I literally came here to make the exact same post. Where the fuck is dat hype? This game is going to riggity rape everything in existence. I have this pre-ordered (like a boss), and I will be seeing my grades decline rapidly after release.

Loved the original Shogun and Rome but never got into medieval - tried Empire but it brought my PC to its knees, despite my having a reasonably beefy rig.

If Shogun 2 is better optimized, I can totally imagine losing myself in it for weeks.

Maybe cause they´ve been selling this one in the exact same way they´ve sold every other game in the series so far without addressing important issues like "did you fucking fix the god damned siege AI?" and such.
Still, Im kind of excited for it and will probably get it at some point I guess.

I played Rome back in the day and it was too complex. I wouldn't want them to dumb it down for me, but if they did, totally let me know and I'll give it another swing.

Does it really warrant a lot of hype?  Fans of the series already know about it and nobody else is going to care.  I'm not sure if the solution to their AI difficulties should have been to go running back to a much simpler setting, but the unit progression stuff could freshen things up a bit I guess.

You could give Hegemony a go - that's pretty much a simplified Total War game.  The demo is fairly generous.

Perhaps it's as simple as SEGA being a bad publisher?

I have high hopes for this one. My buddy and I usually play Starcraft II for our RTS fix. This game might not change drastically from previous Total Wars, but the battles and empire mode look pretty polished. Could be the game that surprises most of us, all I'm saying.

Probably  because my three year old computer won't be able to run it very well, that's why.
