It's on sale this weekend but I dont have time to play the demo. Anyone play this and know if it's like Sim City or Cities XL?

It's more of a tycoon game. It's not about building a city but more about building a functional island industry.

yeah but a smaller scale city with more micro managing, you can see all the people living there and get them assassinated etc, you don't have to manage water and power comes into play maybe mid game depending on when you start

Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. You raise and lower prices and how many people you employ and all that sort of stuff. So it has management elements like Sim City, but the scale is much closer to something like Rollercoaster Tycoon, or the Anno games.
