Overview:

tUME copied the layout of Deluxe Paint, another development tool of the same era, and the most popular image editor of the time. It has virtuly no limit, and can edit multiple maps at one time. It supports several "rooms" as tUME calls them, each allowing several arbitary templates. IT was different form other map-makers because it had no graphic editing tools. MOst editing tools had this feature.

Most map editors of the era saved out proprietary formats intended to be used directly in a game, tUME used a generic IFF. It also had custon converters called tUMEPACKS.
