Tunnelers is a free to play multiplayer arena shooter developed and published by Slovakian studio Floating Minds. The game is set in the year of 2159 when humans discovered underneath the earth surface a mysterious and extremely rare mineral called Carretium. Three different factions dig deeper and deeper in search of this mineral until they clash with each other.
Player can pick a tank from one of the three classes (related to factions) and compete against other players in three different modes: Capture the Flag, Team Showdown and Free for All. Similarly to a game from 1990 called Tunneler, which was heavy inspiration for Tunnelers, each tank has an energy and shield meter. While shield is basically player's health, energy governs shooting and digging through certain surfaces. There are also pick ups which can for example refill your meters, boost your damage or turn your tank into a suicide bomb.
There were originally 4 modes planned, but the games did not manage to get a lot of players. It was terminated in less than a year after its release and servers were permanently shut down.
