    Anybody know the Steam version is different from the retail one? 
    And if I can register with my retail key on STeam?

    I do not think it would be any different then retail unless steam was offering pre order stuff.

    No difference.
    There were obviously pre orders before but that was it.
     
    Don't know about the key stuff.
    However the game needs activation internally with that key as well.
