The single-player options are a little slim, but taking the fight to opponents over the Internet is absolutely awesome.

UFC 2009 Undisputed is a mixed martial arts fighting game developed by Yuke's Osaka , developers of the WWE SmackDown! games. It is the first UFC game to be released under the new license agreement signed with THQ.
Brief History of The UFC
The Ultimate Fighting Championship was started in the early '90's by the Gracie family as a way to demonstrate their style of fighting. They believed Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was the best and most effective style of fighting. Royce Gracie was entered into the competition (which had little rules) despite being relatively skinny and undersized compared to his older, more experience brother Rickson. This was done purposefully - the Gracies believed that if the masses saw the smaller, babyfaced Royce defeating larger opponents it would advertise the efficacy of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Royce went on to win the entire tournament, easily beating the larger and stronger opponents by taking the fight to the ground and forcing them to submit by utilizing chokes and joint locks. Eventually competitive wrestling changed the face of the sport. Once those versed in striking arts began to learn wrestling in order to prevent being taken to the ground it enabled them to successfully compete in the sport. Thus today's top competitors must be well rounded in many fighting styles including Brazilian Jiu jitsu, wrestling, boxing, Muay-Thai, Judo, and others. The UFC was eventually purchased from the Gracie family by Semaphore Entertainment, and has since been purchased by Casino magnates Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. Since the purchase, the Fertitta's, Zuffa Inc, and Dana White have faustered exponential growth and the sport continues to gain popularity around the world.UFC as a Video Game
THQ is set to take the first attempt at a current gen version of a UFC game. While this may not be the first game ever created for the UFC, it certainly looks to be the most promising. The developers of the extremely popular WWE wrestling games have taken it upon themselves to build an engine for this game for the ground up to try and deal with the complex moves that occur in a MMA fight. The game is getting some praise in previews with magazines like EGM, and it is set to be released spring of 2009.Fighter Information

Technology
The engine for UFC 2009 Undisputed has been built from the ground up.One of the core strengths of the engine is the ability to calculate velocity and mass. William Schmitt (THQ) recently stated that you can knock an opponent out within 10 seconds; based on factors like timing, angle, stance and weight distribution.
Other notable aspects:
- The submission and tap sequences currently involve a two stage process, you have to complete both stages to achieve either outcome.
- There is no HUD except for round, round time and an optional stamina bar (which can be activated in the options menu), otherwise all damage and exhaustion are shown through the fighters appearance.
- Damage is not just superficial, if your fighter has a swollen eye the impaired vision will affect his striking from that side of the body.
