If you're one of those sad, depressing old people who likes to kick back and enjoy a long, labored schedule of character reveals stretched out over however many months a PR team has to in order to maximize coverage for a game that's essentially a reboot of a game that came out less than six months ago, you can just go read something else right about now, grandpa. Why? Because your elderly, liver-spotted face is about to get blasted with so much Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 new character info at once, it's going to knock you off your walker and onto your wrinkly behind, inadvertently removing your catheter and crushing your colostomy bag in the process. So seriously, please go read something else, because that's going to be really gross.

Thanks to the most minimal amount of sleuthing ever required to dig up unannounced information for a video game ever, Joystiq managed to find character art assets for all 12 of the new fighters coming to the updated version of MvC3 by, of all things, just looking on Capcom's press site. It was all just right there, ripe for the taking, leading one to believe that this could all be an elaborate ruse, designed to ensnare any sneaky bloggers who might be hunting for a scoop. Or, someone just put some image files live too early. Either seems a perfectly reasonable explanation.

I can't wait to watch Phoenix Wright "Objection!" the living hell out of Rocket Raccoon. Believe me, I never thought I'd get to type that sentence in my lifetime, either.

It's probably worth reiterating that Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is retail-only, much as Super Street Fighter IV was. According to a statement from Capcom, "We think everything offered in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is worthy of a full retail release. With updates oft he game system, spectator mode, etc. it would be a quite a lot for a DLC update." So, to be clear: If you want these 12 characters and everything else available in the update, you're gonna have to buy a disc.

This is almost tempting, but then I would be encouraging their practice of "release a game, then a year or less later, re-release the game with an update and charge them just 20$ less what we charged them the first time."  That's a bad practice and it needs to stop. 

MVC3 Good edition. Capcom sure is mking good decisions lately 8D.

Bought MvC3 mostly thanks to the Amazon credit for Dead Rising 2 preorder, never really touched it. O well, this looks sweet and Frank West will be my go to.

Seriously though, I'm bummed that they decided we needed more Resident Evil and Devil May Cry characters rather than the one missing Clover protagonist. Not that I was gonna buy this game anyways, I don't like supporting the idea of releasing an unfinished product at full price so you can announce the final version five months after launch.

I'll admit, these all sound awesome except...Vergil? VERGIL?! The entire pantheon of Capcom games spread open and you give us...Dante-lite. Why not just throw in Evil Ryu, tell us how you REALLY feel?

I'll buy it day 1, especially for Phoenix Wright and Vergil, but I won't be entirely happy about it.

Vergil seems like a poor choice in my opinion, but I guess I'll have to wait to see him in action to know for sure.

I wasn't interested in this unless Phoenix Wright was in it. Looks like I'll be picking it up now.

so I guess Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3: Arcade Edition will follow next spring

None of these characters interest me. Just release a full change list for the returning characters so I can decide if I want to buy it or not.

I didn't buy MvC3, but adding Phoenix Wright to the mix means I will buy UMvC3.

Why is there no Mega Man or The Punisher?

I'm really disappointed with these characters.

Kind of sucks, it all being thrown out the same day the game's existence comes to light. Having never been into MvC2 even I got excited when I saw Strider Hiryu; the only time I've seen the character was in a FT15 around the time of MvC3's launch.

I find tournament matches of the game really entertaining; so if they've managed to improve the game and add more content I'm open to it. That said; I'm way less eager to buy it having bought the original MvC3 and never played it. If it's DLC like SSFIV:AE than I don't see a problem, retail release is a little iffier.

But if people like the game and want to buy more of it, more power to them. I'll continue barely understanding what's going on but clapping at the spectacle.

Demon's Crest is one of my favorite SNES games!  So glad to see Firebrand in this......that said, Screw you Capcom! 
 
There's nothing here that couldn't have been released as DLC or heaven forbid, should have been on the original release (spectator mode anyone?)   Mortal Kombat a game that came out monthes later by a smaller developer came out with a much larger feature set and has been tirelessly supported with DLC, INCLUDING FREE costumes for people not interested in the new characters! 
 
Capcom got my original $60 with MvC3 and just like Street Fighter 4 before is now expecting me to drop another $40 for an incremental upgrade?  No thanks, Capcom I'm out.

Interesting, I held off on mvc3 because it seemed to lack content but if this version is also cheaper I might just pick it up.
