I like 'em because they're so tough. They just make you feel powerless.

I'd usually search the room for a rocket or grenade launcher, that made pretty quick work of em.  And I loved the satisfying feeling of putting a shotgun down the yeti-wampa-guardian's throats!

Shotguns, my friend.  I was playing on hard and I just danced around them.

Yep. Hated them. I didn't realize the crossbow would kill them so easily until the end. Every game I have ever played has taught me: Machine Gun > Crossbow.

    The game is awesome though.

@Giantsquirrel: Have you ever seen an Indiana Jones movie.  It's a pretty common pulp-adventure convention to throw the hero against something that he doesn't fully understand or believe in.  Ark of the Covenant, Holy Grail, etc.

I loved them. Kinda completes the whole indiana jones-esque pulp adventure fiction feel. And they were way better than dealing with those stupid yetti things. The new run-and-gun system makes me kinda wish to face some more of the Descendants from the first game though. I thought those were pretty interesting creatures.

They suck, but are a good ramp up in the challenge towards the end.

And in reality, they're only a real pain in the ass when you first encounter them and all you have is an AK.

Anyone who says it removes uncharted from the type of story it usually tells has obviously not gotten very far in the first game...

I think so, but did Indiana Jones have super-powered monsters? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing any until the fourth movie/pile of shit. I want Uncharted to be more like Indy, that is, have a fun, fantastical take on history and historical locations/people, but keep the characters and storyline grounded in reality.

I'm kinda mixed. I feel like that, yes they do an excellent job of making you feel powerless. But at the same time, I think they're just a smidgeon too tough. Fine when you've got the bow and arrow though. God fobid you miss though! :(

I had no issue with the guardians, you just need to drop your weak ass weapons and pick up their golden crossbows. A couple of shots with those and they go down.

The guardians were tough but man they made the game tense because of it, plus it was noice to have some variety from the standard soldier to better armored soldier

This guy wins, that end fight was so annoying, but not just that, it was bad, the last Uncharted was a little better based on the fact you actually had to do something other than run.
However the same thing happened as it did with the first Uncharted when those skinny dudes shown up, on the verge of turning it off because that sort of thing annoys me, but intrigued to find out what happened so I carried on, they weren't in it all that much and after a while you get a massive chain gun and their cross bow makes pretty light work of them.
As someone else said, it sends it into the realms of Sci-fi.

I despise the monster things from Uncharted 1 as they just seemed like naughty dog created them at the last minute to end the story. I found the guardians however to be great, I liked their toughness and the change in tactics required to take them down. The snow battle against the one in the suit in particular was great, the moment where he bats your gun away at the end will be memorable for me. Awesome.

I liked them. Much like those monsters in the first one, they only show up near the end, changing the way you'd usually take on fights.
And I think it fits perfectly with the atmosphere. Uncharted, much like Indiana Jones, always has myths that turn out to be real in their backgrounds. I'm just surprised that Nate and Elena were so reluctant to admit that something 'supernatural' (for lack of a better word) could exist, given what took place in the first game.

I hate them just in the sense that they were bullet sponges that didn't really react to being shot.  The good thing is you don't really have to fight too many of them.

Anyone notice how when you're fighting the first one you have unlimited ammo?  There's another scene where you have unlimited ammo too.

I think you have unlimited ammo both times you're fighting them using Yeti suits.

Its fantasy, not sci-fi. Sci-fi implies there is science behind it. There is no science behind guardians. If there is someone who believes so, get help.

Yeah, the guardians are my least favourite part of the game (that and the end boss) especially on Crushing difficulty are ridiculously hard.

They suck, as in, they're amazing and better than me.

But it's a good twist and I liked it. Crossbows make short work of them which is cool, because it means you only have to focus on one.

You're using Lost as an example?
Pick up some Doc Savage, Tom Strong or watch the Indiana Jones flicks (The REAL ones, not Crystal Skull) and you'll see that things akin to the Guardians are not out of wack with the type of stories they pay homage to in Uncharted

As for how they appeared in the game? I rather liked it.
It amped up the tension ten times and made for a nice dicergion from the oodles upon oddles of soldiers that met you.
Plus they really immersed you in the otherworldly at atmosphere of Shamballah

I agree totally. I wouldn't mind it if they flinched, or got filled with bullet holes that filled up again or something. Just going about their business while I pump a full AK clip into them? No thanks.

For some reason I made  a B-line for the first golden crossbow dropped, I just had a hunch... so I didn't have much trouble with them.

I found the Guardians to be a pretty awesome inclusion but I wasn't surprised to see a supernatural element after the spaniard mutants in the first game.  I guess I like that whole unexplained thing ... its just like indiana jones.

I finished the game on hard mode yesterday and the only point I has any problems with them is when you have to fight the three of them in the ruins after crashing with chloe and elena. What I did discover  the next two times you face them... they have a point where they will stick at if you wait around/avoid them long enough..and then  you can pretty much kill them  from a distance without and danger at all.

Lasaravic on Hard is a total grenade spammy cock though... anyone know how much harder he is on crushing?

dont hate them as much as the super armored soldiers you have to kill.  Sure they are easy enough to kill but just seeing bullets bounce off them is annoying and a pretty gay way to make an enemy harder.  Also, Lazeravich didn't even feel like a really good end villain.  He was just a super asshole but there was no real emotional value to beating his ass down.  You dont even get to kill flynn yourself. He kills himself like a dumbass.

@SJSchmidt93: wait? you just called infamous last boss shit? that game wasn't bad, the last boss was just hard, just because something is hard doesn't mean it's shit. I'm not going to say you suck at the game (because you're prolly better than me ) but i found a challenge welcome in both games. I was breezing through uncharted until i met those dudes, and it made it a welcome surprise. also the boss was OK, it was like i had expected it. you can't stand in place and shoot a real dude 100 billion times, it makes no sense.
