NATHAN DRAKE'S LATEST ADVENTURE, IS ONE OF GAMINGS FINEST. 2

NATHAN DRAKE'S LATEST ADVENTURE, IS ONE OF GAMINGS FINEST.The credits began to roll down the screen, there was I seated with goosebumps and shivers of excitement rattling through my body. Knowing I had just experienced one of the finest adventures to ever grace any form of entertainment. A shining example of not just how far videogames have come, but how they have the ability to reach new levels of immersion only films could dream of. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a very rare case, a rare case i...

I'm sorry, do you have a plan to go along with that grenade? 0

I loved Uncharted: Drake's Fortune- it was a fun, action packed ride filled with great characters and witty dialogue. I wasn't really expecting Nathan Drake's second outing to be much different, and in short, it isn't- but it also doesn't need to be. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves takes the sound blueprint laid by its predecessor, and tweaks a handful of small problems that needed tweaking. The result is an even better action game, and one that no fan of the genre should hesitate to play.Nathan Drak...

    I don't know what to say - It's just freakin' good. 0

When a game like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves comes along, it almost frustrates me in a way.  For some inexplicable reason, I wanted to find something wrong with the game, something significant to me that made me not love it as much as every other person raving about it.  To my dismay, and leading to my immense joy, I found nothing of the sort.  Uncharted 2 is one of the most well polished, perfectly paced, wonderfully captivating video games I can think of.  From a gameplay standpoint, Uncharted ...

    One word: AMAZING 2

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is an amazing game, and Game of the Year without a doubt.  This game takes everything that was so amazing in the first game, and bumps it up a whole new level.  The combat is not longer frustrating at all, platforming is easier and puzzles are more fun.  The story is amazing from start to finish and the characters are possible the best characters ever created in video games.  Now the graphics, WOW.  These are without a doubt the best graphics ever (yes, even better tha...

How to do a sequel 0

The second game, in the Uncharted series, does everything right when it comes to improving what came before it, which was a game that set a foundation that could absolutely be improved upon. Well, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves did that perfeclty, it improved on every single thing compared to the first game. Sure, it's not perfect, the shooting can be repetitive from time to time, you can jump to the wrong place or die unfairly once or twice. But it's not enough to hinder the experience the game pre...

Fast Paced Review for Fast Paced Game 0

The cover art for Uncharted 2 is perfect because even though it is an illustration of the first part of the game, it is this part of the game that let's the player know that they're in for one hell of a ride.  From the moment the game came to and allowed me to take control of its protagonist, Nathan Drake, in the crazy predicament that he got himself into, my mouth was hanging agape - literally; that is how I knew that this game was an experience unlike any other because I have never had that re...

    My Uncharted 2 Review 0

If I had to pick out some of my favorite Playstation 3 games, I could count on one hand the ones that have stuck with me. Killzone 2, Warhawk, The Eye of Judgement, Uncharted. I get it. I have quirky and strange tastes in games. Uncharted was one of those games I clamored for when it first came out. I was mesmerized by the lush imagery that floated around the internet, awestruck that a game could look as nice as it did and provide a fluid platforming experience. For the most part, Uncharted del...

Uncharted was a good release and amazing with the second! 0

Man, the PS3 has been on a roll this year with it’s exclusives and Uncharted 2 is no exception. Read on for some thoughts on one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year. 9/10 The Good – Please excuse me if I happen to repeat certain things from my review of the first game. But what was good there returns and is even better this time around. The Indiana Jones style adventure is back and even more exciting and multi-layered than before. Once again we have a third person action game with plat...

    A masterpiece in the action/adventure genre 0

The word masterpiece gets thrown around an awful lot these days, it seems like every major triple A title on the market receives at least a good ten or fifteen absurdly good reviews. But what defines a masterpiece in the gaming world? To me it has to be a game that truly pushes the boundaries of what we thought possible to new heights. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves does just that on so many levels. When you look at the giant leap between the first and the second Uncharted, in terms of pretty much ev...

    Chart It 0

If for some reason you have yet to pick up Uncharted 2, turn off your computer and buy it right away. Naughty Dog's newest creation has "Game of the Year Contender" written all over it. The single player is an epic journey that benefits from many improvements over the original, but this time, the battle doesn't end when the credits roll. A fun and well rounded multiplayer suite backs up the 8-10 hour campaign, making for a superb game that can be played for many, many hours.   The original Uncha...

One of the Best Sequels of All Time. 0

The original Uncharted game, released in 2007, was a pretty good game that had a fantastic foundation. Issues with the combat and its longevity of the title kept it from being a home run, but it was an overall good game. I honestly wasn't too much into the hype surrounding it's sequel at first. But then I actually played the game.Uncharted 2 takes place 1 year after the original, with you returning to control treasure hunter extraordinaire Nathan Drake. He is approached by old colleagues Harry ...

As Close to Perfection As You Can Get 0

It is not often a sequel out performs the original source material. Certainly there are exceptions in other viable mediums such as film: The Godfather Pt. II, Aliens, Terminator 2, The Dark Knight, etc. However while lightning may strike twice in Hollywood this occurrence is even less common in the video game world. But every now and then a sequel comes along and surprises its audience by improving upon the original in virtually every conceivable way. Thus has Uncharted 2: Among Thieves delivere...

Pretty fly for a white guy. 8

Oh Uncharted 2, how hard you try. Uncharted 2 feels like that one insecure kid at school that puts too much effort into fitting in. He buys the most expensive pre-torn jeans and matching Rocawear shirts, and totes the newest IPhone (he’s in Grade 5 by the way) so that he can post more text in Twitter updates per day than this review’s length. However, the fear of being rejected by his peers is mortifying and the obligation to stay within popular norms is so overwhelming that Uncharted 2 wo...

Arguably the most overrated game ever 2

Seemingly every game website has dished out torrents of praise for Uncharted 2, to an irritatingly unrestrained degree (X-Play: "The best single-player game ever" ).  Those graphics are incredibly beautiful; Uncharted 2 is consistently gorgeous, which is a good thing because everything else is consistently horrible.  The praise gamers and press heap upon the story, a National Treasure ripoff (which in itself is an Indiana Jones ripoff) is embarrassing and belies the immaturity of the industry. ...

It's impossible not to love Uncharted 2 0

A lot of good games come out every year. Then, among those good games, great games can be distinguished. And then there are those who stand tall above this highest tier of games and deliver a truly special experience that will be talked about for years to come and will be a considered an absolute benchmark for its respective genre. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is one such piece of entertainment.    Once more, for treasure! I can say so with confidence because Uncharted 2 doesn't ju...

Something just might have happened. 0

Uncharted plays like an action motion picture with you, the player, kind of involved. There are examples that prove to be quite entertaining this way. Unfortunately, the story of this game is not that great.Good, but far from great to get you sucked into the mindnumbingly explosive action, that is constantly bombarded in front of your eyes. The suspension of disbelief during dialogues is stretched very thin. This is not to say that this is a bad game. It's just that having so much formula being s...

I prefer the term "treasure hunter!" 0

In Nathan Drake’s second Playstation 3 outing by Naughty Dog, the treasure hunter/thief/explore/war criminal is hot on the trail of Shambhala, an ancient city home to the Cintamani stone. Said to grant wishes and to have fueled the most powerful leaders in history, you can be sure that Drake isn’t the only one after the precious gem. Drake’s journey takes you from a museum heist in Instabul, to the war torn streets of Nepal, the cavernous ice caves of the Tibetan mountains, and all the way to S...

    Uncharted 2: Among Thieves 0

Uncharted 2 is the kind of sequel that all game sequels should hope to be - it makes you never want to go back and play the previous one again. Which is a bit unfortunate in this case, because I still intend to replay the first game for the trophies they later patched in, but just looking at footage of it makes it clear how far Naughty Dog has come in two years. Uncharted 2 is stunning, and easily the best game they have ever made. It's possibly the prettiest game ever, both in terms of technic...

    SImply amazing 0

In all the years I've played video games I don't think I've ever seen a sequel improve upon it's predecessor in such a vast way. As good as the original game was this was simply completely outdoes it in almost every way. First of all I think one of the strongest points to mention is that the game essentially has no filler action. Every sequence of the game feels purposeful and well designed, and you almost never feel any reason to put down the controller.  On top of the game playing well, it als...

Uncharted 2: Play This Game 0

I received Uncharted 2 for Christmas last year (and gave it to two friends before I had played it based on word of mouth) and like most people who played it I totally loved it. A true sign that I love this game is that I’ve since beat it on Hard difficulty and recently started Crushing difficulty. For hardcore gamers playing on higher difficulties might be no big deal, but I basically NEVER do this. Also, since it’s for PS3 I tried out the multiplayer mode and loved that too. I never played the...

A vast, rapturous improvement upon its predecessor 0

It's common for a sequel to build vastly upon the foundations of their predecessors, but to do so on such an immaculate degree... not so much. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves happens to be one of those games, addressing every problem from its predecessor and then improves upon its improvements. Where the last game's gunplay was weak, Uncharted 2's is powerful, satisfying. Where the story of its predecessor had a few under-developed beats, Uncharted 2 achieves complete cohesion, peppering in ...

    One of the Best 0

Uncharted 2 is a really thrilling adventure.  Following Giant Bomb's game of the year  podcast i picked up a Playstation 3 to try it out and it really is something special.  It's one of the best games ever made.    The gameplay is a combination of Gears of War and platforming puzzles.  But that sells it short.  In so many cases it introduces something completely different to keep things fresh,   A level a top a train, a stealth level, an escape, a snowstorm, and so on and so forth throughout the...

    A Modern Day Masterpiece & PS3's Undisputed Best 0

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a special game. Every so often a developer manages to fully produce their vision of a game to their audience in the best possible way. Sometimes the level of ambition of certain projects exceeds the maker’s ability, the technology just isn't there, or they just can't fully realize their own idea into a great game. What Naughty Dog set out to do with Uncharted: Drakes Fortune was incredibly ambitious and whilst the game was many things such as a graphical behemoth ...

The PS3’s most critically acclaimed title Uncharted was bound to have a sequel eventually and sure enough, in 2008, Uncharted 2 was announced and released in late 2009 to even more acclaim than its predecessor. Do Nathan Drake’s adventures continue to excite or should he sail off into the sunset, once last time?!“More of the same” is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot these days, generally with a negative connotation. That is NOT the case for Uncharted 2. I caught myself saying it several ti...

    A Dissenting View 10

Game of the Year? Not for me. Uncharted 2 was released on the PS3 this fall and quickly became a Game of the Year contender.  It has a 97 on Metacritic, with no publication giving it a score lower than a 90.  Even though I didn't really like the first Uncharted, I couldn't resist the hype.  Even Ryan Davis, who felt like I do about Uncharted, was raving about the new sequel.  I had to give it a try.  After finishing the game today, I am mystified.  While the game has several amazing parts, ...

Uncharted 2 has awesome graphics, a complex storyline, great voice actors, and high production values.  To hear all about those great things, check out every other review of the game.  But here's what sucks and ultimately brings down an otherwise top-notch game;   1. Lack of Tension An early level in the game has you hanging off a falling train (it's depicted on the game's cover art, too).  What a thrilling & seat-of-the-pants adventure!  Not really, this event is completely scripted & y...

I know everybody loves this game.... I know it's been out for a year... almost 2. But, after playing again recently... I still don't understand why anyone liked it. After playing Assassin's Creed 2, there was just no room in my heart for linear climbing puzzles. Before I picked up Uncharted 2 the sum of my experience with the first game was about 20 minutes of the demo.  The game looked great and the movement/ animations were great, but I found the gun-play and some other mechanics too tedious for me to continue playing.  Uncharted 1 is on my list of games that I am guilty for not playing all the way through.  Thank goodness however it turns out you don’t really need to have played the first game to enjoy the second one.  There are enough nods and refer...

Uncharted 2: Better Movie Than Game 3

There are a lot of well-written reviews that have good points and give this game a great score. I'll get right to my point - it's not a great game at all. It's a good movie.  Great graphics, good story, witty dialogue, but bad gameplay.  The game is at its best when puzzle solving and at its worst when shooting. Unfortunately, there's way more shootin then puzzlin. It's a terrible  shooter - controls are sloppy, enemies are nearly invincible on normal difficulty and many of the gunfights are app...

Play it NOW!: Uncharted 2 Among Thieves   Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has arrived and Sony is sitting on a gold mine. It is my opinion that this game is the greatest cinematic experience I have ever had while playing a video game. It is not perfect, there are some moments where I was frustrated by the AI or spent far too much time looking for an elusive piece of treasure, but there is an overall cohesiveness between characters and their journey to Shambhala and it's hidden treasure, the Cinta...

The Modern Indiana Jones Game 0

I have not played the original Uncharted, but after playing this. I'm considering to go back and check it out. Although, I think a lot of people can get away with skipping the original and playing this only (if they're on a budget or something).  This game feels like a mix of Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, and God of War. Why? The shooting mechanics were basically pulled from Gears of War, but doesn't feel as tight. Moving around the world felt like it was pulled from Assassin's Creed, but this...

    Stuff That I Played: Uncharted 2 0

Note: This will be MOSTLY spoiler-free but not entirely. Like in the first game though, the plot is quite predictable so it hardly matters.I did not like the first Uncharted game at all. Sure, it was really pretty and had some very well-written (if pretty shallow) characters, but the game just wasn't fun for me. All of its game elements were taken from other games, the level design was shoddy and the plot was boring and predictable. So it was with a certain skepticism that I went into Uncharted...

This isn't a full review. I mainly wanted to get another 5-star score on the list! I greatly enjoyed playing Uncharted 2 (remastered) through the end. I thought the touched up graphics were done really well. But mostly, the gameplay is way better than the first Uncharted. That one was good but annoyed me frequently. The original Uncharted took many gamers by surprise simply because developer Naughty Dog had never done anything close to a sophisticated mature adventure game before. Known primarliy for the kid-friendly Jak and Crash Bandicoot franchises, Naughty Dog came out of nowhere with a game that showcased some of the best graphics, dialogue, voice-acting and storytelling ever put into an adventure game.I knew Uncharted 2 would improve on its predecessor, but it's really hard to fathom how quickly this ...

Easily the best game on PS3, Uncharted 2 is an unparalleled inter 0

In 2007 Naughty Dog released Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The Tomb Raider-esque game featured an unparalleled presentation that was backed by repetitive gameplay elements that brought down what could have been an amazing experience. The situations that hero Nathan Drake found himself in were dull, and while the game was polished and fun for a time, it eventually got old. The action movie feel the game was going for was just never fully realized. Two years later Naughty Dog is back with Uncharted ...

When a band, book, movie, or game strives to be epic the results tend towards the extremes of the quality spectrum. In a world of Lord of the Rings there also exists a 10 000 BC. Uncharted 2 fortunately is the good, nay the great, type of epic.  The reason that Uncharted 2 is epic in a great way is not because of the quality of its graphics or its set pieces, as is often the goal in modern "AAA" development, but rather in the smallest details present within every aspect of the game's presentatio...

When Uncharted: Drake's Fortune launched in 2007, Naughty Dog wasn't quite sure what it was. Was it a third person shooter or an action game? Thankfully Uncharted 2 mixes the two masterfully and improves on its predecessor in every way imaginable.      I don’t really need to open up with the obligatory explanation of what Uncharted 2 is, or who made it, because honestly unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard of it. So let us proceed straight to it. The first thing that caught your eye was most likely the graphics, and for good reason. Absolutely a 5/5 0

Naught Dog created Uncharted back in Fall 2007. The game received awesome reviews and sales numbers, but there were outlying issues with the game. One of the more noticeable issues being the incredible amount of shooting it took to kill one enemy. You would shoot and shoot, reload, and shoot again, just to kill one guy.  Well Uncharted 2 not only fixes the issue, but it fixes every last issue that was present in the first game, while at the same time not creating any new ones. This game is as cl...
