I'll be honest, the first Uncharted was a huge disappointment for me. The story and characters were great, but the combat was horrible. The enemies were bullet sponges and throwing a grenade was a pain in the ass. I eventually stopped playing the game for that reason.
When Uncharted 2 was announced, I was a little doubtful. But once I saw footage and I heard they fixed many of the gameplay issues, I got excited. Some may say hyped, but I don't like using that word. It's dirty.
Basically, Uncharted 2 is everything the first wasn't. The gameplay mechanics went through a dramatic fix, and overall it makes the game a more enjoyable experience. Right from the start, the game sucks you into the over the top story. It feels like an Indiana Jones film, but in video game form. The crazy situations, the one-liners in the dialog, it all feels like what a summer blockbuster is. I was amazed at how involved I was in the story. It almost feels like an interactive cut-scene, and obviously you're doing all the cool shit in the story.
The game is very well paced. The story kept me hooked until the very end, and the ending is very satisfying. I beat this game in three days. I normally beat games in one week, so beating a game in a couple days says something. Personally, I think this has been my favorite singleplayer experience this generation, next to MGS4. It's that good.
The multiplayer is just as good. All of the Gears Of War like mechanics of the singleplayer are in here, and in multiplayer it works well. There are your basic Deathmatch and CTF matches, and there are also Co-op challenges, which include beating levels made specifically for co-op, and gold rush. Gold rush is about surviving as a team while tons of enemies come running at you, while trying to capture treasure. Yes, it sounds totally crazy, but working as a team to get the treasure is really fun.
Overall, if you're looking for a game that will last you a few months, this is the one. The singleplayer campaign will keep you hooked, and the mutiplayer is just plain addicting. Well done Naughty Dog for addressing all of the issues of the first game and fixing them in this one to make a better, kick ass game. I applaud you guys. Great job.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is an amazing game, and Game of the Year without a doubt. This game takes everything that was so amazing in the first game, and bumps it up a whole new level. The combat is not longer frustrating at all, platforming is easier and puzzles are ...
