After looking over a few pictures of the new Drake, he looks older. If he does end up being older, say early 40's I would be disappointed. Sure, I would one day down the line like to see a older, wiser Nathan Drake, but I'm not ready to say goodbye to cocky, sarcastic, "I haven't thought that far ahead" Drake. Some details about the game say that the story will play with the Nate/Sully father figure relationship (which means more Sully, yay!) Which wouldn't work as well with an older protagonist, giving me some hope that maybe he isn't as old as I'm thinking.
So, Do you think he's older? and do you like the idea of an older Drake.
PS: would anyone else like to see some flashbacks to Nate's past, I would enjoy learning about his backstory, or maybe a flashback where you play as Sully in his Prime, before he met Drake.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Game » consists of 11 releases. Released Nov 01, 2011
On an expedition to find the mythical "Atlantis of the Sands" in the heart of the Arabian Desert, Nathan Drake and his partner, Victor Sullivan, encounter a deceptive organization led by a ruthless dictator. Terrible secrets unfold, causing Drake's quest to descend into a bid for survival.
Is Drake looking a bit old to anyone else?
He was in his early 30's in UC2, so he may be mid 30's now, but he's not graying or anything. I don't want him all world weary, but I do want him to grow up a bit by the end. The biggest ludonarrative dissonance in Uncharted is Drake's snark combined with his murderous rampage, so some resolution of that'd be good.
I do see what you mean with the look, though, I think Naughty Dog keeps improving their facial rendering and Drake is getting more detailed, and possibly looking a bit different because of that. If it's like UC2, then he'll look much closer by the end. The first teaser for that game had Drake looking really different, but he looks way more consistent in the final game.
He's John McClane fused with Indiana Jones, both are loveable guys who murder hundreds of people. There's nothing else to it.
" @Kierkegaard: He's John McClane fused with Indiana Jones, both are loveable guys who murder hundreds of people. There's nothing else to it. "I'd say John McClane is an action movie badass, not a wise-cracking adventure hero. And watch the Indy trilogy again. He's not actually that murderous. I mean, Nathan's totally going to kill more dudes since he's in a video game and all, but Indy does not murder hundreds of people. Most of the murdering is God burning out Nazi's eye sockets at the end of Raiders.
Plus, they're murdering terrorists and Nazis; Nathan's murdering mercenaries and Slavic military types. It's a grayer line.
Not that much older. He just seems tired. Maybe if he started fucking thinking ahead, he wouldn't have crashed the plane...
That would be my choice too, still I don't think that's the direction it will go. If the franchise does belong to Sony, I don't think they want to kill the series, even as it is one of their biggest in their hands." @Jeust: It's going to be ND's last PS3 game before they start on whatever they're cooking up for the PS4, I think they'd try to close out the Uncharted Trilogy. It will end in a way that won't allow for more sequels, at least I hope so. >.> "
No, but I don't him to be fucking murdered. Jesus Christ, it's a goddamn romp, it's not fucking Leaving Las Vegas. More sequels are fine if ND wants to do more, they don't have to be tied down by the trilogy format. It's not as if they were setting up some epic storyline that needs an end, it's just the "The Continuing Adventures of Nathan Drake".
" @Abyssfull said:Oh yeah, I know. I didn't seriously think he was that young btw. Just used that age to strengthen my point =P" Not especially. He's lived an exceedingly stressfull life mind you. In reality he's probably only like 22 ;P "I think Amy Hennig said in an interview with Adam Sessler that Nathan Drake is somewhere between his early to mid 30s. "
He looks great to me.
First game character that I ever wondered what his penis looks like. I bet it would be very well rendered.
Way more appealing than Peter Molyneux's. Also, you just made me wonder if Nathan and Elena have consumated that shit. Is there a kid now? Can we play as the kid? Uncharted meets Heavy Rain?" Wrong.
If History repeats itself again we will have an Uncharted Team Racing game before ND moves on to the next system. Think about it.
I always assumed he was in his late 20's early 30's. He looks a little bit different in the Uncharted 3 pics but hugely different.
I have often wondered what exactly Drakes background is though I didnt play Uncharted 1 but they mention his money in Uncharted 2. Does anyone actually know?
Dude, if Nate has a kid in this game, that would be....uh...I dunno. Don't wanna see Mummy Returns sh!*. But it would be nice to know if him and Elena consummated... :) Nathan Drake a married man?? No way!!
He won't start looking old until Uncharted 4, after sudden rapid-age acceleration, where he shall be affectionately known as Old Drake.
" I think the beat down appearance of Drake is meant to reflect the merciless challenges of the desert. Not necessarily his age. His dehydrated body, and scruffy appearance are there to make a more realistic and cinematographic experience. "Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
" He is slowly transforming into Mark Wahlberg. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
