Coming to PSN?! Surely this must be the end of days!
It's hard to explain, but HOLY CRAP am I excitied for this to drop!
I've bought five copies of Vagrant Story over the years from random used dealers, and none of them ever worked on my PS2. Lost my original way too long ago. Haven't played it since, and have had a mad yearning for it. STOKED!
" Really, you are all excited about 10 year old games coming to the PSN? I hate to be the naysayer, but they were good. Now they are just an antiquated mess.Doesn't mean they still can't have fun with it.
What I'm trying to say is that I enjoyed them on the PS. They were great. But they don't hold up. "

I disagree. In the last year or two I have played Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 1, FInal Fantasy IX, and I am almost positive at least another one or two original PS1 games. I also have Chrono Cross and Resident Evil 2 ready to play in the next 6 months or so when I have a chance. And you know what? I have enjoyed them all and will put Final Fantasy IX up there with any RPG and almost any game out today. Now the graphics and gameplay of Resident Evil and MGS are dated by today's standards but once you get the feel back and take them in context of the generation they aren't bad enough to make me not enjoy the game.
You went back to Resident Evil? I tried playing that game again, but it was painful. I want to keep my fond memories of that game (read having the crap scared out of me)
Final Fantasy IX is great. It aged remarkably well, unlike Final Fantasy VII. If you want to risk losing your nostalgia that's OK, but I would let them be.
@SethPhotopoulos:
I loved Xenogears. It is a great RPG, but if you are going back for the memories of what it was rather than what it now is, there is a good chance you'll be disappointed.
Yeah I went back and played it and the hardest part was getting used to moving again. I tried to use analogs and had to use the D-pad. I also forgot how hard it was to progress in games like this without a guide or somebody telling you what to do. I had an online guide open pretty much through the entire playthrough to prevent having to search the entire mansion for an item hidden somewhere in the mansion with little or no clue where it was supposed to be.
I do agree that you run the risk of losing your nostalgia but I am able to keep current playthroughs of old games in context of when they were made.
