I like that they are doing this. I'm a big SRPG fan and I would love if Japan realizes the biggest market they don't even try to cater to is on PC. I just am not going to buy a handheld to play one SRPG anymore. Pretty much did that twice already in my life. It's a joke.

It's been hard enough to get the genre on consoles so I'm keep expectations low.

This is obviously a good sign though. I think SEGA has become a pretty progressive company as far as that goes, with a lot of their output now being Western strategy PC games.

This might be the only PS3 game I own that I haven't finished. I enjoyed the gameplay but the plot was a bit too anime for my tastes. I was up to a level with an artillery piece moving on a distance railway bridge. Anyone tell me how much I have left?

@fredchuckdave: I guess you're referring to Selvaria. I'll probably have to go back and play the game again to see exactly where you're coming from, because I just looked at the cutscene regarding her removal, but without remembering everything leading up to it, I can't really make an argument one way or another. Anyway, I needed an excuse to play the game again, and you've provided me with one, so thanks.

Nice! I picked it up right before the new XCOM game came out and played about 1/3 of it and got distracted with more Steam games, and just never really got back to playing any PS3 games since. I'll definitely pick it up on Steam!

If I'm remembering right then you are on chapter 9 or 10. I'd say you are at the half way point. There are some really great levels in the back half of the game too, but that middle can be a drag. Plus you should be around the level where your units upgrade to get the grenade launchers, flame throwers and mortars, which is pretty fun.

This game is amazing, and well worthy of more people playing it. I bought a PS3 for it back in the day, and don't regret that decision. I'm glad that it's being re-released.

Also to the dude who said the female characters are disposable or whatever...like all the overpowered and memorable characters in that game are female. Marina, Edy, Jane, Rosie, Selvaria, and most of all Alicia. I have no idea what you're smoking man.

Disagree even though Dycedarg is my favorite video game character. It's only more grounded in reality if you ignore the fact that the entire plot boils down to "demons manipulating events to resurrect king demon."

That said, the early game is pretty sweet.

    Ah, beat me to it.

I love that Matsuno's creative influences are very different from most games - his games have more in common with historical fiction than the usual suspects of pulp, hollywood, anime - but he tends to fall back on stock fantasy tropes for some reason.

Delita is a pretty rad dude though. He didn't give a fuck about those zodiac stones.

What!? That's crazy, Japanese devs don't know how to PC. What crazy exec at SEGA greenlit this? This is fucking great news.

Valkyria Chronicles absolutely deserves a re-release; one of the best games of last gen. Just hope the port isn't 720p locked at 30fps with 128kbps DivX video and zero configuration options.

Yeah I think I'll buy another copy of this game. Maybe if the reaction to this is really good it will renew Sega's interest in the series, and lead to some brand new Valkyria Chronicles goodness. It's such a shame that the series moved to the PSP, because a big part of this game's appeal was the presentation. That first sequel at least was really sub par, and we didn't even get the third one.

I'm happy to play Japanese games on consoles, but its nice to see this trend of Japanese developers porting games to PC. That could lead to some good things. Hope it's working out well for them.

When I saw Sega's tweet, Brad's thoughts popped into my head immediately.

Every time I post something about Valkyria Chronicles (...) I figure it's the last time there will be anything to say about the game.

I would PAAAAY for a Vanquish PC port. I kinda regret not buying it in the last gen consoles. Binary Domain has a PC version, I'd love for Vanquish to get a port as well.

On another note, since Nintendo is the one solely publishing Bayonetta 2 it probably won't end up anywhere else if they were the ones who largely paid for it which is kind of a shame really (and by "anywhere else" I meant the PC, which is the neutral platform :P).

Also another SEGA published game that was developed by a Western developer that has been generally well received and also has a PC version: Alien Isolation!

I don't often get on the petition-for-getting-PC-versions bandwagon, but seeing that some of the best SEGA published games in recent years were made by Platinum and since I also own MGR:R on PC, I really want ports of those games to come to PC now.

I bought this game but never played it. I was wondering if it would this game would play better with a controller or key board and mouse. Personally I prefer controller for most games. Just works better for me. Also why is there not any old Sega games out for the Vita. Would love some Shinning Force 1 and 2.
