Valve files trademark for Half-Life 3

#1 Edited by Metal_Mills (2997 posts) -

OOOH

mod edit: added Half-Life 3 to the thread title as people were crating dupe threads not realising that there was already one about HL3.

I'm very surprised they hadn't trademarked that years ago.

They just love twisting in the knife, don't they? (At least Gabe does.)

Government shut down means drastic measures to unite the people.

DOTA 3 CONFIRMED!

Wait, did they not already have the trademark for Half-Life 3? Or are they just renewing it? Because either way I don't think this means anything.

Err?

Seriously, thanks obama!

I love getting caught up in Half-Life 3 rumors and hype. I want to believe.

According to some Reddit comments (the definitive source for anything on the internet), this is an "intent to use" trademark, which means they actually have to use it to be granted the trademark. They have a set amount of time to do so, I'm seeing 3 years thrown around.

I hope they announce HL3 just so they can say it's cancelled.

...Nope.

Oh he is back, didn't you know?

They surely already had that trademark and just renewing it. Some people should just play the game if or when it comes out and stop spending every waking moments looking for clues that the game may or may not exist.

Fixed. Daikatana is on Steam now. No....really. It is!

Betting we don't see HL3 until there's a next gen engine for it. Source 2 or whatever.

#20 Posted by Aetheldod (3579 posts) -

O: could it be true? Can they finally say sumthin about it? OMG , OMG!!!

#22 Posted by slyspider (1225 posts) -

Keep in mind it has been years since HL2 last came out so... adjust your expectations, the shooter genre has changed a lot.

#23 Posted by BurningStickMan (204 posts) -

@forcen: Pow! Well, if they already have a game to debut it then never mind.

We all know they're working on it.

Sometimes I think the game has been done for years and they're just fucking with us.

#27 Posted by Forcen (1823 posts) -

@burningstickman: Never mind what? They will probably use that new engine for more then one game.

I'm going to ruin your surprise and add Half-Life 3 to the thread title to avoid people creating duplicate threads.

I'd like to play this some day, but at this point, I can take it or leave it. Loads of other shooters out there and Valve (whenever HL3 comes out) will be challenged to rise above the fray once more.

That's nice. Still not happening. Move along people.

@kishinfoulux What are you refering to? Also, check this out:

"[UPDATE]: Due to a loophole with JIRA and Google Cache, people were once again able to access Valve’s project tracker. NeoGAF user ekim managed to snap some pictures of the tracker before it was closed, showing that the Half-Life 3 group have increased in members (to a total of 46), and reveals a new group called Half-Life 3 Core, with only 10 members."

Well, it's not like they weren't working on it...

Ricochet fans are going to be pissed though.

Not buying it till it's officially announced. Gabe can suck a butt.
