Picked up Vanquish (used) yesterday and just popped it in, and am really enjoying it. It's a bit like an MGS game without the pseudo intellectualism. Loving the cheeseball dialogue and over the top action. The line between making the main character a badass/giving the player a sense of the heroic and making him/her totally overpowered it a thin one...and I think Vanquish dances around it quite well. Anyway...bit of a ramble, but so far I recommend this game. Just pure cartoonish fun.

I don't think Vanquish dances around the idea of making the character ridiculously overpowered at all (not in terms of the narrative anyway) and that's one of the fantastic things about it. The game is trying to be ridiculous with it's city-sized robots, and amazingly gruff-voiced male leads.
I think that there is a feeling of power that is given to the character without breaking the game / gameplay, that's all." Still loving this game. Those red bastards will never know the beauty of a Kentucky bourbon. You can't make this shit up. It's like every 80's cold war cliche packed into one lovely Hulk Hogan bitchslap. I can tell it's going to be over soon, though, which stinks.

Vanquish was my 2010 GOTY. Glad you're enjoying it! It's really short, but for me this is the kind of game I can just play over and over again, especially with the challenge mode stuff and the ridiculous difficulty of God Hard.
