I've never played an MMO either, but now this is making me want to play WOW :| Help.

What a great time to upload as an Aussie. Looking forward to this, WoW isn't really a very watchable game so I'm interested to see how they approach it.

I love some things about the game, I hate some others, but it's still the game i've put the most hours into.

I have never played WoW or an MMO either, so I have decided to travel with Dan through these videos. Even though I would normally skip any video that revolves around an MMO. Maybe I will like it.. I fear that I will.

As someone who played WoW for a month just before BC came out before the boredom set in, and who has no real love for the Warcraft lore, I am astounded at so much of this video.

Also; how could Rorie not be in on this video?

Hilarious how Jeff is stuck in Vanilla WoW, "warrior is like the tanking class and paladin is defensive"... These days, any class can play every spec in a viable way, so a paladin is good a tanking, healing and dps. Not saying they are all good especially on a hardcore level, but they are all viable for play.

Edit: It's so weird that this was released a week after the podcast where they talk about all that stuff.

I think they wanted someone who knew a bit about the game, but not much. Dan wanted to find stuff on his own, Rorie would've just guided him to where he needed to go. It would be kinda cool to get a different person in each video though, to get a different perspective on the game each time (Brad knows more about it than Jeff, Rorie knows more than Brad).

@amyggen: He can level his helper as he levels his character. If the plays enough between episodes, that could work.

This is a good idea if they are going to try out different MMOs for a month.

Also, I'm really surprised Blizzard haven't updated the models a little more. Even games like Eve Online have had a few upgrades since its release.

As much as I have wised up and left MMO's behind I still miss playing WoW with my old guild. Back then I didn't have time to play anything but WoW and I have now realized the genre relies on smartly wasting your time, if you want to be cynical about it, but damn did I have some fun times raiding and haning out with guildies. Made friends for life there.

Beginning of this video was me going "He wants to be an enhancement shaman!" lightning and melee all around.

I never played WoW but have played other MMOs and holy shit WoW has not aged well despite the graphical updates, but I guess that's to be expected.

WoW kind of ruined all other MMOs.

@ohdearaudrey: Yeah I was thinking this too. I guess from what Jeff was saying from playing a lot of the game in the beta and as alliance that he wouldn't really know much about shamans so wouldn't have been able to make that connection for Dan. But whatever, this still looks to be a great set of content regardless of character choice.

Boy this was rough to watch but also kind of amazing. Its like watching a kid learn to ride a bike and constantly fall off but then he gets back up and you're all yayyy. haha cant wait for the next 3 parts.

I am so excited about this feature. Looking forward to the rest of it. I think it'd be good to bring Rorie in but not until right at the end, so he can pass judgement on Dan's progress and explain to him where the next steps would take him if he decided to continue on his adventure.

This is absolutely fascinating. I didn't realize quite how much stuff we all take for granted in these games - things that Dan doesn't have any inkling of. It's just amazing to watch.
