30 Day Trial: World of Warcraft - Part 04

While watching this I'm in a constant state of finding it awesome to see a new player's take on WoW and being mortified that Dan isn't using Wild Strike.

This has been an awesome feature, though. I hope we see more similar stuff soon!

Still bugs me Dan never seemed to carry food, bandages, or health potions on him. How does he make it through other games without any of that stuff? I guess we're all so used to the regenerating health thing most games do now that if you haven't played many RPGs, you don't think to carry healing items.

I've really enjoyed this series. Brought back a lot of memories from several years ago. If you want to do more episodes, I'll totally watch them. Totally fine if you want to stop and move on though. Thanks.

I'm really sorry to see this series end. It seems kind of hard to get a perspective on the game this big based solely on lower-level questing, as good as it is. There's just so much stuff to cover, I was hoping this could be a regular segment like Daily DOTA. But I'm sure you've got other 30-day trials to get to.

In today's WoW, though, you can survive pretty easily without any of that stuff, if you don't get too overconfident with mobs. Of course there's no harm in carrying any of it, but health regenerates pretty fast now.

I'm playing right now, and I rarely need any food items. I use one maybe every couple of hours, and end up selling stacks of 10 because I start accumulating the next level of healing foods.

I'm expecting this to just become the longest endurance run ever.

The Dwarf in the opening cinematic is what I based my first character on, and I'm still playing him 8 years later. I love warcraft.

Dan opening his mail made me smile, such a kid at Christmas.

I agree with Brad that Dan isn't getting the true MMO experience. That includes all the good with the bad. He is essentially playing a enormous single player game so far.

A large part of the MMO experience is playing it from day 1. You don't have to play it like a crack addict but you see and hear all the stuff happening with the game and community. All the experiences that Brad and Rorie are reflecting back on is stuff that can kind of never happen again in WoW.

MMOs are very organic. Everything is always evolving and changing, whether that is from the game itself or from how the player base is handling something in the game, it's all about being there in that moment and dealing with those things.

I'd love to see Dan try to approach maybe a pre-WoW MMO. But I also don't think he would last a minute in one of those. And any guest he has on will probably just complain the whole time about how slow and tedious MMOs are.

I hope they continue this series. It's great for someone like me who finds WoW boring to play but doesn't mind watching the GB guys play it.

I want more! It will be such a shame if this now vanishes into nothingness.

I really love this series and hope it continues. I find myself "WTF'ing" at a lot of what Dan says and does, so to say that a Dan-central (sans Kinect) piece of content has become something I look forward to every week. -That's- how good it is.

It's a lot of fun watching someone experience something new for the first time and liking it. Buttclench moments and all.

I'd still love to see Brad and Rorie hop in game too, to join Dan on his adventures.

@danryckert: If you could, at the end of these 30 Day Trials for each game, how about a debriefing video? Something where you break down what worked, what didn't, and if you would recommend going past the 30 day mark with it. Maybe that would be better suited for a segment of the bombcast.

It sounds like Warcraft was a pretty positive experience for you.

ITS BEEN A LONG ROAD

I hate to sound like a broken record here....but really, there is nothing worse then watching someone play an MMO and listening to someone backseat game...constantly. The same thing happened to the awesome Dark Souls coverage that has happened here. Nothing against Rorie, but he backseats every video series he is in, and it puts a damper on an otherwise awesome video feature.

Just some constructive criticism, please consider not telling Dan what to do, every single moment...

I would love to see you guys dig into WoW once the expansion pack hits. It seems like this one might be the one to get back into. That's my feeling, at least. It's a little bit like Wrath of the Lich King again, which was a fucking spectacular expansion pack for people who aren't hardcore maniacs. Fast leveling and just mmmmm scrumptious lovely art aaaall over the place.

You get a free 90 bump when you buy Warlords of Draenor. Ask Rorie how much time level 90-100 would take, he probably knows. Would love to see you guys play this. KInd of like UPF or whatnot.. Weekly 2-3 hours or something.

Also, DO NOT PLAY ON A PVP SERVER. That almost broke me. BROKE ME. I still have bouts of frustration when walking around in stranglethorn, just because I remember all the fucking places rogues ganked me. Fucking...rogues...

Also #2, Dan deserves to get to know MMOs the way they are supposed to be played. The real wonder behind MMOs is friendship. It is just awesome.

Unless you guys filmed this before the 14, Rory is incorrect when he says the release date for WoD hasn't been announced. It was announced last Thursday that it's hitting November 13th.

When I hear "It's a long road" I think of Rambo. Am I the only one?

Please keep this feature going. I have to get trough the call to resuscribe to wow everytime, but after that I truly enjoy these videos. Also we need more Warcraft Dad Rorie!!

Edit: Would be a real bummer if this is the end of the feature. These reoccurring romps/playthroughs of various video games are basically the only features that bring me back to the site on a daily basis. The more the merrier in my eyes.

Yeah, looks like they recorded this the day before the date for WoD release date was announced.

I've been playing for years and I honestly couldn't tell you, figured they were always on by default. Maybe you changed the setting somehow. If their even is a setting, and if their is it'll be somewhere in one of the countless options screens.

Enjoyed watching this but definitely would have been better if Rorie didn't direct everything.

@rorie not knowing the WoD release makes me think this was filmed a week ago and makes me feel cheated, that Dan only gained 3 levels.

Great video and hope we will get alot more WoW with these guys, like group play. I wont play it anymore but i'll watch these guys all day.
