Looks fairly cool, that said it didn't show any gameplay. Hopefully we'll be able to actually fight in large groups with vehicles exploding everywhere.

this is a PS3 only game, its the same universe as eve-online but its a free to play MMOFPS.

Those folks at EVE know how to make nifty videos.

When I hear "Dust" I immediately think about the old FMV western game... I wish that's what this was.

EVE is pretty cool in a lot of ways, but general gameplay is not one of them. I will be extremely surprised if CCP can make a half decent shooter.

They showed a little bit of actual game play last year at E3. It looked kinda...mediocre, but that was a year ago.

I think it's interesting that the lore justifies why you can respawn. It's admittedly a little ham-fisted, but still neat that they have a story hook as to why a soldier appears with knowledge of the battlefield.

There was a lot of coverage of Dust during this year's EVE Fanfest a few weeks ago -- including a player tournament. It looks pretty neat!

EVE players can also bombard Dust sites from orbit to assist their mercenary operations.

Knowing CCP, this will be full of cool ideas, but the execution will take some time and iteration before it begins to live up to its potential.

Not much of a look at all I'd argue. Good looking cutscenes though, but they don't tell us much about the game. Like with ToR, I get worried when we get loads of CG and no in-game footage.

People who still think EVE is spreadsheets in space have either never played it or you're doing/did it wrong. Is your life all about spreadsheets? Probably not, because not a lot of peoples lives do not involve that but yes just like EVE there are a few people who lives/game do. You do what ever the fuck you like.

Wait, there's a story mode? Hm, interesting. I only played a bit of EVE online but stopped since I didn't have anyone to play with, but I'm definitely interested in checking this out. Gallente represent!

yea, i've seens some very early gameplay and it seemed kinda basic, but still worth showing off, they should put out more gameplay.

I hope it's good, and that people play it, if only because I think it could add another really cool layer onto EVE.

Dust 514 will be a nice edition to the Eve Universe and for those who don't follow CCP so close as us Eve-players much(60-80%) of the footage in this video is done in the same engine as Eve and Dust 514 (they do not use the exact same one) but with some extra effects thrown in. But sadly the stuff in the ending scene isn't quite doable yet but you should see this bit for more of a feeling of the connection of the games http://youtu.be/eRnH1dwpkpU?hd=1&t=20m2s

And while at Fanfest this year I got to sit down and play Dust 514 during 2 sessions and it feels really good and it looks quite nice, very Eve-ish ^^ but it is still in beta so full graphics is not done/on so it will look better.

I have a plan to subscribe to EVE and join EVE University after I beat the single player games I haven't started in my library. I estimate that will be next Winter. From what it looks like EVE University is the place to start!

Let me just say that I think this whole endeavour is a cool idea, regardless of how it works out.

its only a ps3 exclusive because Microsoft doesn't allow cross platform integration. eve players can affect dust players, declare war, send tank, ships etc . xbox doesnt allow that. u can call in a orbital bombardment from eve players!!

When I saw "Closer Look" I was expecting more of a dev diary or something instead of a quick-cut action montage trailer but whatevs. For the spreadsheet crowd I guess they could market this as "Be the row!". I also find it interesting that "EVE Forever" gets a prominent title card while this game's logo has to settle for a small spot beside the company logos.

For everyone asking why PS3 only:

No 360 because Microsoft is very picky about how you use its servers, and having a hard line into the EVE server in Iceland is a big no no there.

No PC because CCP didn't want Dust to be dominated totally by the same people who play EVE. They want to see real interaction between players who would never talk otherwise.

Also, money.

@014: EVE U is deffinately a good place to start out if you have never checked out the game before.

The fact they're creating an in-game explanation for respawning is both hilarious and awesome.

The most recent Fanfest (annual convention held by CCP for EVE and EVE-related things) that just happened this past month actually had ingame footage of DUST, including a live demo of orbital bombardment between DUST and EVE in action.

That would be cool if this turns out to be a worthwhile shooter and extends beyond the EVE trappings. Where the EVE Online bits truly enhance an already worthwhile experience.

They will release it on PC too or they are a dumb bunch of Icelanders :D, their whole revenue hangs on the PC and yet they want to ignore it with this game, I doubt it.

This is already way more story than I was expecting this game to have.

Considering that Dust 514 only interacts with Eve Online I would say this has nothing to do with its spreadsheet status.
