this game sounds kind of like a mix of borderlands and diablo, i'll take that.

This sounds a lot like the early Halo talk, from back when it was a Mac exclusive. Interesting that they never really got away from wanting to make that game, I am glad that their tastes have matured though, I could never really get behind the big green space marine with the motorcycle helmet. The art looks fantastic, seems a very peculiar choice not to develop for PC though.

This game seems cool and different with a great sci-fi setup. However, I'm not to into the multiplayer focus and focus on "dungeons" and other MMO concepts. With dungeons and loot comes grinding and probable micro transactions. I would much rather have a more narrative focus and a single player story with optional co-op. Thats just my opinion and I think this game should be able to find an audience. Also, activision would have to be insane to not port this to PC.

When they say "working on it for a decade" does that mean the game won't be out within the next ten years or is that the planned lifespan of the game?

I guess my level of enjoyment depends on if you need to know the people you play with. If it's like Journey and it doesn't really matter who you play with then I might be interested. But if it's a game that's best when you play with friends then it's not for me.

I simply don't know enough people that are interested enough in playing videogames for that too be fun. If I had more friends that were into games then that might be really cool, but unfortunately I don't.

I wonder if the game will feature actual songs with lyrics now that Paul McCartney is attached to the project?

The more and more I hear about this, the more and more I wonder if this is what Blizzard is working on with Bungie, and is Titan.

Personally, after watching the ViDoc I'm pretty underwhelmed. No PC release? With such a focus on how our character looks, why first person perspective? Why did they show essentially zero gameplay for this "reveal"? Why not wait till you have something substantial to show? I love Bungie, but for me, this reveal was pretty weak.

Preview event seems like a total bummer. I mean, you guys could have learned all this crap from the vidoc they released. Yeah, must have been frustrating for you guys.

In the way Jeff describes it, the game's setup sounds to me like Monster Hunter; central town with multiple zones you can then travel to. like which I would not be oppose to.

While I love the wrapper surrounding Halo, I don't like playing it that much. I'm happy to see them trying something a little different just to see how Bungie can make a game feel when shooting something other than Elites.

So activision will be releasing a online focused multiplayer first person shooter designed,built, and maintained for ten years by bungie. So this is just going to be CoD for halo fans? Which is fine if thats what halo mp players want, but to me at least it looks like the next ten years of gaming will look a lot like the last 8 years for gaming.

Oh can anyone say bungie elite, only $50 a year and you get all the dlc maps. which you will have to buy each time a new expansion is launched. And i have no problem with that either, but if it does happen people have to quit bitching about dlc revenue streams in all games because we as a hobby did it to ourselves.

@hyperionx3: No PC release is not a surprise. Also, the perspective a game has is related to gameplay. Not whether or not you can customize your guy. That's obviously there for the online differentiation like it usually is.

Bungie designed the framework for the most satisfing and fun *Versus AI* FPS gameplay, and delivered a bunch of great games with the Halo games, which pretty much singlehandedly put the Xbox on the map.

Yes, I want to believe they'll pull off Destiny. The question weighing on my mind the most? How open-worldish will it really be... and what's going to be instanced and how.

It's hilarious how sites like GameTrailers will have huge countdown features for this a week beforehand, and GiantBomb is so far in the complete fucking opposite direction.

This looks like Mass Effect and Halo got together with Planetside and Dust and had a wild orgy, resulting in two babies (one of Mass Effect and Halo, one of Planetside and Dust), who then grew up together, falling madly in love and having their own child, which is Destiny.

Nothing about this excites me, its not as big of a departure from Halo as I would have liked.
