A Look At Battlefield: Bad Company's VIP Map Pack 2

I really hate Arica Harbour on Rush Mode. I'm really happy they are allowing more modes now. Also, Laguna Presa is an awesome map and should make for a terrific rush map.

I'm not too dissapointed  because it's free, but I hope the next map pack has some brand new maps.

They really need to add more new maps. I'm already bored of the few there are.

Doesn't really bother me that they aren't releasing any new maps yet, still really enjoying these ones.

I'm pumped.

Something that clearly should have been on the disc day one. If it's part of their anti-trade-in tactic, cool. But don't promote this shit  as "FREE DLC MAP PACK 2!!!" as if we should be over the moon that we're getting "additional content" for free.

Good job on releasing stuff that should of came out of the box in the first place, we already had these maps.  Oh well at least it's free.

Anyone has an extra vip code? I bought this game new and used my code on my profile, but my wife also plays the game and she can't play on some of the maps. Frustrating. 

Wait don't we technically get "new" maps? Seeing as how Laguna Presa is getting a rush mode, that means the map will have to have more than 2 more sections added to it meaning new parts will be added to the map

I play this game on the PC and it came with these maps. No VIP code needed.

Just played my first two rounds of 'Laguna Presa Rush'. 
 
Let me tell you - it's an amazing map. Lush and beautiful. Open and big. Full of amazing setpieces. 
 
Most of all. It feels like a completely new map. A completely new gameplay experience.

Ok, so I bought the game new and entered the code day 1, do I automatically get this update?  I looked on my hard drive last night,  and the only 2 things under BFBC2 are the installed game and the save file.  I know the code worked because it unlocked certain perks and guns.  Do I have this or not?

You will still need to go into the story and download the map pack.  It won't automatically download it. "

No, there's nothing to download. They just enabled the ability to play new game modes on existing maps. The maps themselves already reside on the disc. Of course, if you don't have the VIP code from buying the game new, then you'll have to pay to access the "new" content. "

How are you being lied to?   Since this was first mentioned they have clearly stated what it was.   Saying it's not a "map pack" is just arguing semantics.  And as far as "mw2 winning this one" goes,  MW2 has been out close to 5 months.  BC2 has been out one month.    In four more months if BC2 still hasn't released new maps, then you could argue that "MW2 won this one." "

Not the case. We were first given news of a "new map pack" - now when we see the real story, it's not a map pack. That was a lie. Or at the very least bending the truth. MW2 being out for nearly 5 months WOULD have been a valid argument, hadn't bc2 try pull off the little "lets bring our map pack out on the same day" stunt. Clearly they'r making a statement by doing so. Trying to reel in the audience to the bc2 side of things. They just did it kinda cheaply. Man i feel so special to be a VIP!! :) "

It's exactly the case.   Since the first day the map pack was listed under the coming soon section of the store it has clearly stated what it was.  Just because you saw "map pack," and assumed that it HAS to mean new maps isn't EA's fault.   They have never called them "new" maps.  They have always just said it was unlocking two existing maps in the other mode. Ok. Your obviously splitting hairs here. The term "map pack", in relivance to gaming, 99% of the time entails your getting a new map and/or maps. This was not the case. "

God this quote is getting huge.    Anyways, I've already said you claiming it's not a map pack is nothing more than arguing semantics.   Maybe 99% of the time "map pack" does mean new maps....that doesn't matter at all.  EA/Dice didn't try to hide what was in this map pack.   I already stated that you obviously saw the term "map pack," and assumed it had to be new maps.  Even though EA has clearly stated what it is.    I also don't see how I'm "splitting hairs."   Your initial complaint was that they were trying to "con us" by calling it a map pack, but no new maps were in there.  I'm just saying there is no reason for you(or anyone else) to have thought this had new maps in it.  I would agree with you on this if EA/Dice hadn't told what this map pack was from the start and tried to make people think it had new maps in it, but they didn't do that at all.   It unlocks maps(existing) to play on game modes that you could not play before, so I have no problem with calling it a "map pack." So I completely disagree with that, which is the problem we are having. :p   A map pack can have new maps, it can have remakes of previous maps(like the MW2 one does), and, as in this case, it can add game modes to maps that were not previously playable.  I just don't agree that a map pack absolutely HAS to contain new maps.    I do however think that if it was a map pack that you had to pay for(which isn't the case here) that it should have new maps in it.   Out of curiosity, what would you have preferred for them to call it?  Edit:  Forgot to say that my definition of lying would be if they said it was going to have new maps and then it didn't.  You're saying that they lied because they didn't deliver something that they never said they were doing in the first place.    Just doesn't make sense to me.
