I don't give a shit what the reasons are for it, there's no excuses to have "DLC" on disc. That's total bullshit. If it's on the disc, the player is entitled to that content imo.

You know, three bucks would probably be enough to innoculate a child in some godforsaken part of the world, against whatever crazy diseases they are prone to, from living in the filthy conditions that exist due to whatever disaster might have recently descended on them. Nothing immediately springs to mind - I'm just saying your money could be better spent.

Don't donate to Red Cross though. They'll just use your moneyto pay their legal team to protect their brand by issuing cease-and-desist orders on game developers who put red crosses on their health packs.

You know what? Fuck 'em - it's your money, do what you want.

If Gears of War 3 were free I would totally be OK with this. I get that Epic and Mircosoft want a little extra scratch from making this skins paid DLC, but I already paid a large sum of money for the game already and I think those skins should be included in the $60 package. I am OK with this system in, say, League of Legends because that game is free, and if you want to show your support for Riot (the developer) you can do so by paying for alternate skins for champions you already own that do nothing extra but look different, which is the same functions these weapon skins do.

It's horribly overpriced and completely fucking dumb but shit, this is what paid dlc should be - completely useless aesthetic garbage for people who really want that crap. It's better than holding back actual content and overcharging us for that.

just out of curiosity, how many people who bitched about this also have the special edition of the game pre-ordered? because essentially it isnt much different, they are offering you more stuff that is peripheral to the game for more money, you have 2 choices- pay for it, or dont pay for it, easy as that,

The Season Pass concepts are nice and all, but I got the All Fronts Pack with the Game of the Year edition of Gears 2 for a total of $25. Sure, it was late 2009, but still.

I actually would rather play $40 for the content spaced out, rather than $30 up front for nothing right now. Maybe because I'm a poor college kid. The weapon skins are dumb as crap.

How about instead of buying this garbage and telling game developers we are willing to pay for shit, you give that $45 to a starving child so they can live to see tomorrow?

While I am a big supporter of dumb shit, I don't like stuff like this creeping into my not-entirely-moronic video games' multiplayer modes. Grunt Birthday Party is a fun Halo campaign modifier, but I really want to engage pinatas in a deathmatch. Uncharted 2's multiplayer was also turned into a farce with all those skeleton and cameo skins. I'd like to be able to disable this stuff, but I guess that wouldn't make people who buy it especially happy.

Just throwing it out there. This is at least in my top 10 of the most egregiously disgusting things I've seen from the gaming industry in the last five years. I'm sadly not shocked it came from EPIC either. The fact that they could, during development, more or less google "cool textures", throw them on the disk, and then charge 3/4ths of the price of the total game for the skins is seriously just a slap in the face to gamers everywhere.

And before you say "but it's optional!" it''s not about that. No, wait, actually it is. What happens when large chunks of the game suddenly become "optional"? Is everything going to be cool when your paying $60 a title and the last three chapters are "optional"? Or a good quarter of the weapons are "optional"?

That aside, its also about value for work done. What they're trying to say is that the work that went into those texture packs is apparently worth three quarters of the development of the game. Either GoW3 was designed on the tightest fucking budget known to man, or they're just laughing in your face.

The worst part of this isn't just that the skins exist and that they're charging for them-- the worst part is that they're throwing all the skins you don't own in your face every time you change your loadout.

I don't care how defensive you wanna get about "it's my money, I can do what I want, suck it poors;" this is just some annoying, useless, bad design bullshit.

Yeah Epic's got it all wrong. You're supposed to wait 9-12 months and then put this stuff in for free.

Since what Jeff has right now is a review copy (I'm assuming), that means he just spent an infinite amount of money more on skins than he has on the game. Seriously though, I could care less. I have no intention nor any desire to buy any of those skins so they could charge $100 for them for all I care. As long as I can play the core game, I'll be happy.
