All the content on the disc should be included in the price of the disc, charging people for unlocks to things already in the game is gross.

Weapons skins vs a year of whiskey media premium. I think we all know which is the better value.

I am a fan of the Gears series, but damn this entire situation makes me frustrated. This is how you treat your fans? Do you think they're stupid? Well, maybe most of them are, because a lot of people I now bought at least 1 skin pack.

How much better would the rainbow skin in #Gears3 be if Griffin said "Taste the rainbow bitch!" when you killed someone with it?

Thanks for this. I may pick up one or two but wouldn't even consider buying them all. I do like the liquid metal which comes with the season pass though.

Personally, it's not a problem with paying for extra fluffy items. As far as I'm aware, games developers earn more money through those then actual game sales. There's a good graph on the internet...I can't find it at the moment, but the game developer, in this case EPIC games only receive a small cut from the profit.

Naturally though, it seems there isn't much in the of QA testing for this items, as quintessentially it's something an artist, heck - anyone with a copy of paint can produce in thirty minutes or less. They are little bits and pieces of extra stuff for players who enjoy the game, and want to get something new out of it.

Also, in my opinion these kind of fluff should never outnumber the amount of in-game fluff. I mean, take what we have in GOW3. There is about 8 or so skins available (I'm not counting on different guns, it's the same thing). There's about 20 or so DLC skins. To me, I feel a bit cheated because of this. It's money grabbing at it's finest. I mean...here's a fantastic idea to bump up unpaid skins. Flat colours. How many colours can you think of? There, loads more added with next to no effort to do so.

All in all, the pricing is all wrong. 3200 Points is silly. That's basically £32 over here in the UK. That's the price of the game again. By all means, have DLC vanity items. But work on the pricing to reflect this fact, and make it feel like an extra - rather than the robbery it seems.

I actually like the idea of a season pass if it saves you money versus buying all DLC individually in the long run, but yeah, this is just stupid. Thanks for doing this, Jeff and Patrick.

It's a kick in the balls because the target market for a full skin pack is the most obsessed of Gears fans. Instead of recognizing their $60-$150 investment in an Epic product, Epic is happy to nickel and dime those same customers day one with overpriced content of negligible value.

I find it insulting to buy a game only to have an interface on day 1 to show me how much content is missing from the product I bought.

I'm of the opinion that if it doesn't impact the game balance in any way then go ahead. Take money for it, how ever much you want.

This is the horse armor all over again. And i dont mean it that Epic are dick by asking for alot of money for cosmetic content but the internet reaction. Every argument, even Patric's is stupid. Your not entitled to anything and if a developer/publisher has in-game cosmetic paid content you are not in the right by complaning and saying it should be free. You get access to the whole game by just buying it. Your not locked out from a mode or mp gametype if you didn't pay for a weapon skin. Having a different skin on your Lancer doesn't make it any better so its not like anyone in GOW3 will have an advantage if they put more money in it.

If thats the case then fuck you! Your an idiot for complaning. If its a new weapon or something else that has an impact on the game balance then you can complane and I will be right there with you. But when its cosmetic then just shut the fuck up. If you don't like it then don't buy it(you can't beat that argument). You can still enjoy the game on equal foting with everyone else.

And if you do buy cosmetic content then you shouldn't be called an idiot or looked down on. If you pay for content like that means that you really like the game and more power to you. I happy that you found a game you enjoy so much that you are willing to put more money in it.

Jeff just spent some guy's yearly subscription on a rainbow skin, that didn't even cover the entire gun.

Even the season pass doesn't seem like a good offer. Oh Epic, you've gone down in my estimation a great deal.

I really don't mind spending a buck or two on some cosmetic DLC, but the majority of those skins are really quite terrible. They kinda remind of Windows 95 background tiles. Give me some cool/garish artwork on the side of my gun or something.

I don't understand the negativity. Are any of these wise purchasing decisions? NO. They are really not a good deal. But to bitch about things that used to free and are now paid, about paying for things that aren't great quality or are over priced is a little hard to swallow when Whiskey Media started charging for their websites is crap. I LOVE Giantbomb. I watch their content that I canceled my cable. But if you want to experience all that Giantbomb has to offer you have to pay for. And you don't get what you used to for free. The Endurance Run used to be free. Now there is talk that it won't be. They used to do all sorts of goofy one off videos. Now you only get those if you pay. I love the content and do pay for it. But don't boob about someone else trying to make a buck when at the end of the day you are too.

No Patrick. Not worth $2. Try 25 cents, and frankly that's pushing it. Why don't they just put in a gun skin editor, Forza style, as DLC for $5 and call it a day? I wouldn't be offended to see them put a user feature like that with infinite possibilities for user created content in for a *small* ($5 MAX) fee. 3 bucks for a paisley shotgun? Fuck that. Fuck you. I (and possibly a billion people before me, but it's 1:30am and I'm not reading all those) predict a lot of rainbow guns in this week's TNT. Normally this would be something to be pleased about but non-free dlc that's on-disc? Kind of takes the joy out of it.

I'm getting so sick of this crap. Gaming is already a stupidly expensive indulgence, far more so than an being audio, video or bibliophile and its still not enough for these greedy feckers. They have to start charging for content that would have been a free in game unlockable a few years ago. At some point they will just release a peripheral that shakes you upside down until the change falls out of your pockets.

Man, those skins are horrible!

If only that rainbow was a double rainbow, then it would be a day one buy.

Trackmania does the custom skin thing pretty well, it loads you into the game ASAP and then just displays blank grey cars until it downloads the custom skins people are using.

Also big props to Jeff for being crazy enough to download this, as with the Game Room stuff, purely for the sake of the community and spend a bunch of money :P
