Abe Returns in Oddworld: New 'n Tasty This Week

It's still pretty deliberate, it's just not really tile-based anymore, so Abe can slide into position a bit when it comes to climbing/dropping or pulling switches and stuff. I think it feels really good so far. They've also added more stuff than I was expecting, like in regards to stealth gameplay and such.

So Sony's doing a great job of promoting this.

Next to last on the banner, and not even on the front page of new releases. Instead there's a pre-order for a re-release of a game that isn't even good.

It's a shame the machine guns don't sound as world explodingly overpowered as they did in the original games, it really delivered a punch to your death, maybe it's modifiable.

That won't stop me picking this up on PC though, provided it has no issues and the reviews of this initial release are good.

I love this fucking series, I am definitely gonna buy it.

I remember renting this for the PlayStation. Never did finish it... Maybe once this is out for PC, I should.

The initial reviews said that it's not as difficult as the original, even on hard mode. That's slightly concering.

I'm sure it'll be on PC eventually. If it isn't then well, they've given up a lot of money so that'd suck for them and us as I imagine most old oddworld fans like me played the originals on pc.

Also oh man am I hyped to play this.

So unbelievably excited for this! Played the shit out of Exoddus as a kid (still one of my all time favorite games) but had trouble getting into Oddysee due to its lack of QuikSaving. Even if they just added in that feature and didn't update the graphics, etc. I'd still be in!

Have it preordered, but I need to wait for the PS3 version! Hurry up please!

I was so ready to get this as i love the oddworld universe. I remember oddysee and exoddus fondly, and I enjoyed Munch's oddysee and Stranger's Wrath. Of course this had to be exclusive to one platform I don't own at the moment.

Yeah, I sold my PS4. PC all the way. Kojima wants a PC version of MGS V. Now as long as Nintendo gives up their obsession with hardware. we can all rest easy.

Man. Heard so much about this game over the years, saw so many magazine ads, walked past it so many times at the rental store and now I will finally play it.

Strangers Wrath WAS a mess when I first bought it but it got patched last year and it made it run a lot better and they did bump up the graphics. Before that though it was a hideous mess.

My copy is already preloaded on the PS4 and is set to unlock at 9pm Pacific time. Can't wait to play it.

Goddamn. Never played the full game but I remember playing the shit out of the demo which came in the PS1. Looking forward to this.

I don't think its a timed exclusive in the traditional sense. Its more that they wanted to focus on getting one version out as soon as possible rather than delaying the game and releasing it on all platforms simultaniously.

They always said that they wanted to release the game on every platform possible,.the issue with Microsoft is that they wouldn't let them self-pubish. They would have had to you through a separate publisher. Which was dumb and unnecessary. Now that MS have changed policy and allow self publishing, they're happy to release on Xbox.

This looks like how I thought it looked in my head when I was 11 years old.

You know, if I had a spare £400 in my back pocket, I might buy a PS4 just to be able to play this game early. Abe's Oddysee is one of my favourite games of all time. Oddworld is such a fantastic universe, I'm super excited for this game. I'll have to wait until it comes out on PS3 or PC, though.

All new controls and physics? I don't know how I feel about that. The deliberate controls were one of the main reasons I loved the original game so much.

@sub_o: Yeah, I think so. I would imagine they don't have the original audio files, or something. Or maybe the way he did the voice changed over time so now he wants it to be more uniform? It still sounds extremely similar, it's just the cadence that's changed, really.

I've already pre-ordered this because I Believe In Lorne Lanning and want to help fund a new Oddwurld.

I'm just not sure Abe or his world is as interesting as it was in the late 90s. I think Limbo, Shank, Child of Light, Mark of the Ninja, Lone Survivor, Shadow Complex, and Braid show that side scrollers are better than ever...so how this fits in the market of newer more experimental games is hard for me to grasp.

Yup, for me me included, but that was an incompetent port job. This is developed from the ground up.

Wasn't the previous Oddworld boxset for PC some sort of horrific trainwreck that didn't work for a lot of people and to this day still doesn't?
