I still haven't even finished "The Signal". Played and loved Alan Wake, but it's not the kind of game I want more of. The story was confusing (to me) and some of the gameplay parts didn't make sense at all. Why do I have to collect those thermos again? Why can't I access all the story information if I'm not playing it on hard? Just two of the things I didn't really like.

I also think the first DLC was released too late. It should have come out three weeks after the game was released. I would probably have cared about it if it were released earlier. :-(

I'm in no hurry to play this. I'd see myself finally getting it once Alan Wake 2 is officially announced.

Posted by Heartagram

I feel like nothing will get resolved but I'm still way excited for more alan wake.

Posted by AsKo25

Want it so bad.

Posted by Raymayne

Oh yeah Alan Wake...forgot about that.

Posted by fox01313

Sweet, while I've not heard too much on the Singal being all that great, this looks like the story might overtake the ordeal of the combat. At least it's cheap so will definitely grab it.

Posted by Sil3n7

Nothing will be resolved because Remedy has already confirmed a sequel.

Posted by The_Hiro_Abides

I'm looking forward to this. Having said that I would probably be more amused if the dlc was a chat room with the developers or just a list explaining things. Would that be worth $7? No, but it'd be the greatest jerk move ever.

Damnit, I had put my money on him being an acrobat...Okay who had writer? :(

For all of you that bought this game I have a question. Is all this dlc coming out for Alan Wake story based? If so do you think the game would have been vastly better if this and other dlc was just in it?

On the fence about this one. Alan Wake was great but The Signal was really disappointing.

This is exactly what I'm thinking

Awesome! One of my favorites games of 2010

Did anyone else think  "Silent Hill" meets "Typing of the Dead" ?

"Nightmares exist outside of logic, and there is little fun to be had in explanations; they're antithetical to the poetry of fear." so no, I'm not raising my hand. Horror movies suck after the truth is revealed

It is story based, but the story in the game can definitely exist without it. The combat in The Signal was great and the story was pretty cool too, but If you buy Alan Wake and just play the full game it's not like you'd miss anything. Plus, Alan Wake is a pretty long game for a straight up Action Thriller. It took me almost 20 hours in my first playthrough. So it's not like you get a feeling of being ripped off.

You know what was great? The trailer for Inception.  Lets make that, but Alan Wake!

Posted by Fram
@RE_Player92:  The DLC is most definately story-based. That said, the Alan Wake that you play on the disc is a completely self-contained story. You get everything you need from the main game, and "The Signal" DLC just acts as a bookend to clarify a few things (while also raising a couple more questions!)

It's a lot better than say, the Prince of Persia 'Epilogue' DLC which cheapened the the original ending of the game in order to justify its existence.

I can't speak for "The Writer" since it ain't out yet, but the Alan Wake DLC probably would have felt unnecessary in the main game, since the ending (while pretty open) wraps up all the story threads rather nicely.

Hope this helps!

I still need to play this.
But that would require a 360.

Posted by Tricks73r

I really don't care for more Park Ranger Adventures.

Posted by cwdawg1224

Inception.

Posted by Cybexx

A sequel still is not guaranteed. Remedy obviously wants to do one but Alan Wake did not have amazing sales. It sort of came out the same week as Red Dead Redemption, Price of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Mario Galaxy 2 if you count the weekend. Unless I missed a news story Microsoft still has to okay a sequel.

Posted by MrKlorox

Oh they're still making things for this game?

Posted by Redbullet685

I hope this one actually provides a good ending to the game.

Posted by DoctorWelch

Nothing will be resolved because the story is so stupid. I was waaaaaay into it until the last episode. After the last episode I said to myself "Man, fuck this game".

Posted by kariyanine

I just hope that it is less combat focused than the last episode because the combat in the game was certainly not its strong point.

Posted by cwdawg1224

Okay, play the most recent Inception trailer (2:24) at the 0:48 mark at the same time you start this video. The syncing at the end is insane!

I liked that!..but I also liked this game. Not all together,  some parts in the storyline  were brilliant, and the game play sound. Advertising simply sucks, but it was made easy not to pay attention to.

Sure, one more dlc for me, please. It was Ma ma Bell, right? And ant-eater batteries.
Posted by haggis

Meh, nothing's going to be resolved ever. Not even in a sequel. Or several sequels. That's kinda the point of it, like Lost or Alias or X-Files. It's all a bunch of nonsense, as The Signal seemed to confirm. Now, if you like that sort of thing (mysteries that make no sense and can never be resolved)--then go ahead and buy it. But I found Alan Wake to be a narrative catastrophe, even if the gameplay was kinda-sorta decent.

The main game is conclusive by itself. The Signal DLC occurs after the main story and does not really add anything to it. It also doesn't conclude as strongly. I think it is for the best that it was separated. This DLC appears to be more of a bridge to a second game, but I could be wrong and it might turn out as another non-critical story addition. Either way, it still would probably have taken away from the main game's ending had it been included.

My fav game of 2010 so far, and I loved The Signal.  Thought this wasn't coming until December.  Psyched!

Posted by Jeust

He will wake up finally lol

Posted by Vinchenzo

If there's a GotY edition I'll play it.

Posted by PillClinton

Ok, I was just about to snidely remark on how I've just about had enough Alan Wake already, and how this DLC couldn't possibly pique my interest yet again, but then it happened.  560 Microsoft points.  Guaranteed day-one purchase for me.  You got me, Remedy.  Admirable move.

Posted by Korolev

Well it looks like they put serious effort into it. Given that an Alan Wake sequel is inevitable, the odds that this will "wrap up" the story seem slim to me. As in, I'm dead certain that this DLC won't wrap anything up at all, because if it did, what would be left for Alan Wake "season 2"?

Posted by RE_Player1
@Origina1Penguin: @Fram: Thanks for answering. I might get an 4GB Xbox 360 just for this game.
Posted by Lind_L_Taylor

Shit. What?  This game doesn't need DLC.  What's with the
odd price? Inflation?

Posted by AndrewB

Please just bring on the sequel. I'll buy it day one and everything.

Posted by MisterMouse

did any one else get an Inception vibe from that trailer??? I think that was what they were going for

Was it really that hard to understand? I understand most of it, there are some untied plot lines for sure and the thermos are just collectibles. Sounds like you're looking too much into the game.
Posted by Afroman269
@pyromaster222: They need to go in deeper.
Posted by Claude

I'm just going to wait for the Collective Edition or whatever they call it. If it becomes episodic, well, I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it.

That's some Inception shit right there.

This game is structured FOR dlc purposes.
It may not need it but it didn't officially end in the main game, this DLC is needed.
