And maybe it's cause of my short sighted eyes but something in that resolution without any blurring just looks so unreal, really pulls me out of the trailer... Then again, given the voice over that ain't no bad thing.

Well, let's be real. They asked Fox if it could be canon. Fox saw money and said "Sure. Don't give a shit."

That said, Gearbox said in an interview that this would be explained in the game. I vaguely remember it had something to do with the distance between the colony and the processor not being defined in the movie. The movie implied they were closer together (you could SEE the fucking thing from there), but the game seems to be implying they were further apart than they looked (remember they had to drive to the processor from the colony). I'm guessing the same would be true for why the derelict wasn't vaporized too. It's just "further away than you realized" now.

The one I can't figure is why the rescue party is arriving 17 weeks later (per a previous trailer) instead of 17 days as established in the film. The real reason is so the company could reasonably establish a science team on the colony, but I can't wait to see what bullshit excuse they give to explain the time difference.

Basically, I expect it will contradict the fuck out of the film, but if they don't cock up shooting xenos, I'll probably forgive them.

A more important question of course would be: Who gives a shit if this is canon or not. It looks mediocre at best no matter how you look at it. It's very much like Prometheous that way, except hopefully not that shitty.

If I remember from an interview a long time ago. Their explanation is that the part that is blown up was only one part of Hadley's Hope. There are still bits and pieces still intact. Plus some of the gameplay shown here may be from the Sulaco.

I don't know, that still seems stupid. I mean, we're talking about a god damn nuclear explosion not some random frag grenade going off. Plus the Alien Queen got vacuumed and the nest blew up, so why are there still Aliens? Then again, people didn't have a problem when nobody in the Star Wars universe had ever heard of The Apprentice, because he was SOOOOO stealthy. You know, like that one time when he took down a god damn space ship. Yeah, nobody saw that...

Oh yeah, I'm not saying it isn't stupid. Also in other Alien material a xenomorph is able to make itself a queen if it needs to... It's kind of a trump card.

If this was a downloadable game for say $19.99 or maybe $24.99 I would say sure, looks like little bit of fun. But full retail release.... No. Part of me wants to shit all over this game but I feel bad for the developers too. You know they just want to put food on the table and I'm sure they tried hard but again I see this trailer and its so obvious they try to hide the gameplay with the scripting but it still pops through and ughhhh. Should have been downloadable and way cheaper. Real bummer.

The more I see of this game the less I wanna play it. Too much emphasis on action. Aliens seem too easy to kill and melee. Not enough emphasis on surviving and building atmosphere. Seems like yet another FPS power fantasy.

Because SEGA's marketing people think that dubstep is hip with the kids these days and sells moar gaemz.

Btw, that 60fps trailer looked very weird but cool. Makes you notice how most other trailers are youtubed to hell with 30fps.

Does this trailer run on 60 fps? It makes it look like cod with Aliens. That being said I hope it scary enough to make me do dumb decision like check out a bathroom all alone. Bathroom in horror games scares me the most.

Yea I'm really not sure what to think about this game. I am hoping it'll be another surprise like Far Cry 3 or Sleepy Dogs, but their marketing isn't helping. Which must be so frustrating for developers.

I was really excited about my pre-order of Colonial Marines.... Until this trailer. The voice was beyond terrible acting and the graphics reminded me of Duke Nukem Forever. I think I'm gonna cancel my pre-order.

I think Alex held back with his title, which is impressive considering. Not so many would be able to resist slamming that trailer for the limping, shower of shit abomination that it is.

I really wanted/want this game to be good, shame that the universe doesn't care and is being so obvious about that fact.

God, the narrator's voice acting is fucking terrible! I hope he's not actually in the game. The game itself looks cool and I hope it's at least better than this trailer was. Shit.

I'm in trouble. I kind of liked it. Yeah the narrator is way over the top, but a few things he says are actually coherent. Did not hear the dubstep, I'm not expecting dream-pop anyways (hey well maybe on second thought...). But yes, please something more imaginative than dubstep.

If they can condense it into survival/horror plus the firepower, that does not bother me. Especially if there is value beyond just shoootin Aliens. Like ppl. have said, in your team as individuals and a whole. I still want one mode SP mind you....

edit -make it clear, being a bad ass with a bigger gun turns quickly short of the footing you expected. Aliens have been adjusting, and more may be becoming truly sentient....

Remember the original Alien was an incredibly slow intense film? Hell even Aliens showed the "Bad-asses" turned into cowards when they went face to face with the creatures. This feels like a fantasy inside Hudson's head.

That trailer was terrible. I was hoping this game might actually be good. Doesn't seem like that's very likely anymore. Making a good Alien movie/game is about more than just stringing together "remember when..." moments.
