this really intrigues me... A while ago i would have dismissed it...

but...

Amazon is always an unexpectedly strong competitor.... I wonder if this will pick up...

I'm assuming it is a Android based console... it could be the "definitive" android based console.. who knows... rip ouya I guess.

Technically the games look nice ( a lot of rather similar art styl from what I assume are different games) although the performance seems chuggy.. which is expectable but not a very good showcase at this state.

We wait and see

What's that first game with the animals running through the African grasslands? That looks awesome

I'm surprised at the graphical fidelity for a $99 box. It's no PS4/Xbox One/gaming PC, but some of that stuff looks about in line with the Wii U. I wonder if they're subsidizing the cost of the thing.

Guys! DINOSAURS WITH JETPACKS!

I think they're going to tie it in with amazon prime somehow, so yeah they'll probably take some hit on the box it's self.

Those graphics are pretty good. I mean for a little box, it seems quite powerful. I'm no expert on the Wii U but those graphics look like the Fire can seriously rival it. If so then it's pretty sad that Nintendo is charging $300 for something that Amazon looks like they can charge $99. Hopefully if this is a success, Amazon will charge full on into the video game world.

The games look shitty.

Yep these definitely look like tablet games.

I like the one that looks purely conceptual. No seriously, I'd play that weird wood simulator or whatever it is. The other ones....ehh?

I have a Watch Dogs reveal trailer you might be interested in.

Oh well, at least we know what Amazon has planned for Double Helix...

My android tablet has HDMI out. Wii controllers sync to android devices, easily. Nearly every TV now comes with Amazon Video, Netflix, Hulu, all that built-in. Any convincing arguments for buying a FireTV?

A side scrolling Turok and something that looks like a polygonal Another World. Colour me intrigued.

Accurate comment is accurate.

A computer is a computer is a computer. I think that's verbatim from Alan Turing.

At the end of the day, I like that some companies other than Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo believe that there is value in gaming on a TV with a controller. If this means more developer building games that can assume a robust control scheme, a reasonable GPU and resolutions, and tailor the play sessions to more than a bus ride or dump on the toilet, it's a win for the "core gaming" audience as inevitably these games (or the successful ones at least) may see themselves ported over.

So Amazon at E3?

Posted by steveurkel

ah yes welcome to the year 2014 where we take a giant fucking step backwards from graphics to go to what really matters most - low quality looking games

gimme snowdrop and watch dogs I dont see the point of this

Don't give Dinosaurs any kind of technology, it's just gonna be a bad scene.

Posted by believer258

Is it an Android-based machine? If so, does that mean that it's certainly an open platform? And if that's so, does Amazon have some method of quality control planned?

Posted by Neonie

@believer258: I'm going to give the purely speculative and non-factual answers of : Yes. Probably. No.

@jayzilla: Dinosaurs with freakin' lazy beams attached to their freakin' heads

Posted by Zainyboy

Doesn't make me want to rush out and buy one. Seems more like a nice additional feature rather than one trying to sell FireTVs

Posted by dancingpolkabear

This seems cool and if this means we will get more unique games then I'm all for it.

Posted by scaramoosh

The thng is I can run all this off my phone, just download the apk file and tether my PS3 controller and mirror my phone to the tv.

More like Amazon LAME Studios.........

I have the Angry Birds Roku thingie and I think gaming on such platforms is about as entertaining as mobile phone gaming.

It is not entertaining.

I think @patrickklepek is looking forward to the game with the dinosaurs. We need more dinosaur games... for real!
