And in the Future, You'll Be Diving Back Into Rapture in 'Burial At Sea'

Or is that the past. Or is that an alternate past. Or is that an alternate future past. Or--*hurk*! Ow! I think I just killed my brain.

This looks cool, but I can't take anymore of BioShock's sub-par FPS gameplay.

Can someone explain this sentiment to me? I've played nearly every modern FPS (Modern Warfare, Battlefield, Halo, Counter-Strike: GO, etc) and Bioshock infinite's shooting is just as fun, if not more so because of the vigors.

Now, if you're talking Bioshock 1, yes I agree. Infinite is leaps and bounds better mechanically though.

I have to agree. Although I felt the same as Sooty for the first 5 hours of the game. Not that the combat was "sub-par", but that it was the weakest part of the game and that I wished it was as good as Crysis 3 for instance. However there was a moment when the combat "clicked" and suddenly I was using the vigors in a way that made the combat utterly sublime. I played it through twice, both times on hard and I had more fun with the combat than any other game this generation.

Couldn't tell if that was Courtnee Draper as Elizabeth in the teaser; since she gave up acting to attend law school. I guess it's possible they could have recorded it along with the main game, but either way, it looks great.

Actually if you check her Wikipedia article, she apparently recanted that decision in an interview on GameTrailers.

So how does the Season Pass work - specifically, does the 3 DLC you get include the arena-based DLC out today, Buried at Sea, and another unnamed release, or is it Buried at Sea and 2 additional content packs?

I don't have much interest in today's pure-combat DLC, but Rapture Confidential here looks really appealing.

Loved the story in the main game. Really looking forward to what else will be revealed about Elizabeth's nature in this DLC. Sounds like this version is a tad bit darker and more troubled.

That Clash in the Clouds DLC looks completely uninteresting, but this is promising.

@hobozero: The first one out today which is only combat is $5. Burial at Sea is two parts and it will come out in 2014, with the second part focusing on Elizabeth (I think you actually get to play as her). The two Burial at Sea DLCs are $15 each. So its either $30 for the two narrative DLC or $20 for all 3. This is based on the Gamespot news story, so I guess they could be wrong.

I'm really excited for this, but I want it NOWWWWW

Although I found Colombia much more interesting than Rapture, seeing Rapture in it's prime sounds awesome. I'm especially digging the detective feel.

I think it's fair game in a trailer for the DLC of a game, if people haven't finished the game and were really concerned about spoilers I don't think they would even watch the trailer for fear of potential spoilers in the trailer, no less the comments.

People sometimes like to look for the flaws rather than just accept the game on it's own merits. I agree and think that Infinite played really well, with just enough wrinkles to make it its own.

Of course I understand that some people wanted something else (maybe an adventure game), but it was an FPS and a pretty good one.

I'm only disappointed that once Part I and II are out it will most likely have been a year since Infinite released.

After the way Bioshock Infinite ended, I'm really not sure I want to keep dealing with this whole causality infinity recursion clusterfuck aspect of the story anymore (by playing as an alternate Booker who meets some alternate Elizabeth in an alternate thing that will make everybody dig way too deeply into what it all means again!).

For example, shouldn't the ending of that game have destroyed all Bookers and Elizabeths? No? Well I guess it was all for nothing then! Thanks for drowning me for no reason.

But hey, Noir is cool. So we'll see how this thing goes.

...

I hated the end of Bioshock Infinite so much.

Just the fact that this takes place in rapture during a different times period makes these two characters fundamentally different from the characters in the original game.

Except she is wearing a thimble on her half-pinky. And in the art at the end Booker is shown with the "AD" carved into his hand.

Considering that those things are results of Booker's decision in Infinite, it suggests that a similar thing happened here. They could explain it away, "Oh, I had a sewing accident and now have a permanent thimble finger", but that seems a bit lame.

I agree though, I guess, that I would have liked them to me more different incarnations of the archetypical characters we know, but it just doesn't seem that way.

Have to play it to really judge, though.

Why Rapture? Did they have so little faith in Columbia as a selling point that they felt a return would deminish buyers interest?

Because people bought an FPS and then complained that it played like one, it's pretty pathetic. Also, some people completely lacks imagination and played the game like it was CoD instead of using Vigors and Skylines.

There are also the possibility the console controls are really bad, as I played it M+K and never tried it with a controller.

The problem is that Infinite and Bioshock 1's shooting is pretty much identical, so your enjoyment of the great story might have been rose tinting the rather average shooting. Enemies are pretty spongy in Infinite as in all the other Bioshocks.

Then again, I share this same story/gameplay sentiment for The Last of Us and many people told me it was the best third person shooting they've ever experienced so different strokes and all that.

A shame they released the combat arena before this. I'm not playing Bioshock for the gunplay, personally. It's serviceable but not something you spend money on for its own sake.
