This looks cool, but I can't take anymore of BioShock's sub-par FPS gameplay.

Can someone explain this sentiment to me? I've played nearly every modern FPS (Modern Warfare, Battlefield, Halo, Counter-Strike: GO, etc) and Bioshock infinite's shooting is just as fun, if not more so because of the vigors.

Now, if you're talking Bioshock 1, yes I agree. Infinite is leaps and bounds better mechanically though.

The shooting in Infinite is boring, it looks like it was added at the last minute. Sure, the vigors might make it a bit more tolerable, but the whole thing just feels like it was tacked-on. All the weapons feel the same, and there's no real sense of danger, seeing as how Elizabeth pulls ammo, health and salts out of her vagina every 5 seconds. Honestly, I liked Bioshock 1's combat better. Freezing the splicers, then smashing them to pieces with the wrench was always a good time.

You should play Bioshock again if you think you think you still like the combat. It's really awkward. It feels like a first person game that was modded to have guns.

I did, actually. I played through the first two about a month or so ago. I still liked their combat better than Infinite's.

Maybe you just prefer bad FPS controls then.

Yes, I know what you're trying to get at here with that thinly-veiled insult, but Infinite's controls were horrible. I like games with a good story and actual good gameplay, not a story written by a 5 year old and a game trying so hard to be CoD. Maybe you just prefer flavor of the month games than a quality gaming experience.

Oh please, Infinite's controls weren't horrible. I know you don't like the game, but lets not blow everything out of proportion just so you can think it's worse than it actually is.

@shaanyboi: Compared to that other DLC, this looks way better. That's all I meant, I didn't mind the combat in this game.

@counterclockwork87: He's probably talking about all the Bioshocks. i have to say I'm with him. The combat has always been sub-par in Bioshock, and I don't feel that Infinite is a great dead better than 1 and 2.

It's my favorite thing about this trailer and announcement.

Not sure it needed to be pointed out- are there people who didn't play Bioshock?

The stories Irrational Games/Ken tells just turn me off. The stories are just not well thought out in my opinion. Irrational Games makes these seemingly huge worlds and they try to show internal logic, but none of it passed any sort of scrutiny beyond the surface.

Hey, people like them and that great people like all sorts of stuff I don't.

People sometimes like to look for the flaws rather than just accept the game on it's own merits. I agree and think that Infinite played really well, with just enough wrinkles to make it its own.

What does that mean? The flaws of the game are part of its merits, and the gameplay was just more of the same generic shooter + super powers we've been seeing for years, with an okay story slapped on top of it.

What I'm trying to say is the Bioshock Infinite was mechanically sound. The game did what it set out to do very well. Yes, maybe the gameplay was not original, but why is that a fault or flaw. You don't have to be original to be good. In fact you can be unoriginal and be excellent. I think Bioshock Infinite was. I think if you disagree it's because you wanted Infinite to be something that it never intended to be and I think that's an unfair criticism to levy at the game.

No, I meant in Infinite; not the DLC. You bend time and space to show us Shithole Rapture, Elizabeth? Come on.

Note to self: maybe watch FMA one of these days.

Oh... sorry. I thought that moment in the game was pretty well-played. I figured there would be a reference to Bioshock 1 but I didn't think we'd actually go there.

And yes, you should. All of it. And then watch Brotherhood.

Because Rapture is amazing. I'm sure they'll go back to Columbia for something but people responded well to the the way they dropped it into Infinite.

In other news I'm not excited for more mediocre combat but this looks like it might actually have a noir story tied into it and I'm a sucker for that. Less electric crowstorms and more femme fatales please.

Was anybody else disappointed that Elizabeth went to shithole Rapture at the end of Infinite instead of a Rapture where people lived in relative comfort?

Doesn't bug me too much, I guess. Besides, we don't even know yet if she's going to get out of Rapture alive. Also, I'm not sure this is the same Elizabeth, what with the cigarette and all.

Completely off topic, but it can't be any more disappointing than the fate of Ed in the original Full Metal Alchemist anime. To put it simply, the series leaves off with its major plot points tied-up nice and neat (mostly), but leaves the main character in a different dimension where he can't get back home. The movie solves this. Then he says he has to go back for a reason that could have easily been written out.

All I was hoping for in Bioshock Infinite is more story content, regardless of whether it followed Booker and Elizabeth or not. This looks awesome, and also still follows booker and elizabeth(although not the ones we know).

I am officially excited.

I think it's just the popular thing to say, Infinite's gameplay was great and didn't get in the way of the story.

Anyway, this is not what i expected, but looks amazing. Wish it came out earlier, right now i'm running low on cash.

The popular thing to say? If memory serves, the game was pretty fucking well received. There's a loud minority that disagree with some choices made in it. And many of them have explained themselves thoroughly.

Also, there are several reasons that Infinite's action was a step down from the first game. Singular ammo types, no defense meta-game, you pick a single strategy and recycle it for eight hours because nothing will ever attempt to force you out of your comfort zone. Not to mention that it worked against the overall narrative of the story (i.e.: important character deaths mean less after thousands of people kill themselves on your bullets, character growth is less believable when they kill entire populations).

I wonder where all this fits in with infinite's narrative? Is this the same god-like Elizabeth who's jumping around all realities or a different one? Is this the same Rapture with Jack and Andrew Ryan in Bioshock 1? Exciting stuff.
