Is Rig new? I don't remember him from the other games. He moves like a Tekken character.

Never heard these people in English before. Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien AND Patrick Seitz. Now... STOP TEASING ME AND SHOW ME WHO TROY BAKER IS VOICING!

Rig is the new guy yes, new characters are always nice, female or male as long they don't replace any current characters.

ok

oh, and rig looks like a lot of fun. always wanted a taekwondo character~

New character looks cool, kind of an Ein-like player (strong, quick attacks but low mobility). I'm still on the fence about the new art style. I accept that they had gone as far as they could with the anime style, but it feels sad that now so many Japanese games have the same Final Fantasy X inspired look to them.

Also, I hope they include an option for Japanese voice actors... cuz that might be a deal-breaker for me if they don't. I need some cultural distance from that really badly translated dialog.

English...Voices...? That feels so weird. Last English VO I remember was DOA2: Hardcore on PS2, though it's been a while since I played 3 or 4. I've been playing a lot of Ultimate recently, so it sounds way weird to hear words I understand coming out of their mouths. Though if at any point I get to hear "EVERYTHING...IS MY...DELUSION," I'll be SO PUMPED.

Yeah, he looks great - kind of mid-speed, some of his moves remind me of Ein/Hayate.

there's gonna be an option for Japanese. actually, everything they've shown up to now has been from the Japanese language track. i guess they went with English this time to show off what looks like a cutscene from the story mode.

@TheBrainninja: DOAX2 and Dimensions both had English language tracks. Dimensions didn't have completely terrible voice acting, but hearing the cheesy dialogue in English was a lot more difficult to listen to.

Just to show how little I know about DOA, I thought Bass and Rig meant that this trailer was going to contain some monster drops.

Posted by DanTheGamer32

what, there are MEN in DoA?

Posted by Lurkero

Badly translated and awkward sounding voice acting is the core of any fighting game.

This Rig character doesn't seem too bad either.

Posted by pakattak

Cool, a Taekwondo fighter who isn't an ultra-Korean. TKD is practiced by people all around the globe, it's neat to see a game recognize that.

Posted by BBAlpert

Looks neat, but I'll always be a Bayman-man.

Posted by Goblin

Liam O'Brien? Great, now I'll feel a tiny bit guilty when switching to the Japanese voices... just like when I opted out of Nolan North in Resonance of Fate.

They need to stop dropping gems into the sea of poop that is English dubbing of Japanese products:P

Wow, I gess I have to find it now.

It bothers me way more than it should that people keep typing out Tae Kwon Do as one word. Yes i'm aware that it is an accepted way to spell it but you can't go to a school that wrights it as three for six years and not have it rub off on you.

I'm sure I would feel this way about any character in DOA if I knew anything about their fighting styles but it really bugs me how bad Rig's stance is.

Way to bury the lede. The real news is Christie's dress!

Instant buy from me if they announced Hwoarang next (DOA x Virtua Fighter x Tekken)

Posted by Demoskinos

Oh man these trailers keep amping me up. Up up and up.

No fuck bass is in every dead or alive game since 2.

And who every this rig guy is he looks lame.

Inferring that motorcycles don't work on water is perhaps the loosest justification for assault I've ever heard.

It's the fighting style. When you're basing a character's moves on real fighting styles, you're bound to animate things similarly to other fighting games. There are Tekken and Virtua Fighter characters who have the same fighting style as Rig, sure.

Man, Bass is probably getting hit the hardest in terms of being redesigned to look more realistic - I like that. A lot of the girls look the same, except with smaller busts, so I thought they forgot to change character designs at all after redesigning Kasumi. I hope they keep this up - I'm tired of DOA characters looking like ridiculous dolls. AT LEAST give them realistic skin textures. They look like they're made out of porcelain.

Of course, Rig still looks like an action figure. Must his stupid hoodie stay over his face? Can't that be a physics object?

Edited by vinsanityv22

At 1:19, did Bass just yell, "CENAAAAAA!"? Does he have a beef with WWE's John Cena? :)

...

Now I want THQ to contract Team Ninja to make the next WWE All Stars (since they fucking shut down THQ San Diego). I will not be happy until I see Yosuke Hayashi and the rest of Team Ninja make a WWE Fighting game now!

Posted by pakattak

@vinsanityv22: I think he yelled out 'Tina', the name of his daughter. Which is kinda creepy.

This is kinda like porn story lines.

Sleeveless hoodie is still douchie.

He voiced Ryu Hayabusa in Ninja Gaiden 3, so he'd likely voice him again in this game.

not buying the game unless he says "Its a SHOOOOOW TIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEE". then im in.

Voices sound alright with the exception of Bass. Isnt he from Texas? Why does he sound like a surfer on steroids?

I know what you mean, I've been going to a school where they spell "wright" as "write" for so long that your post stood out! OBJECTION!!!!

After playing VF5 FS for a few weeks now, DOA looks way too floaty.

It was Tina and the motorcycle is also named Tina after his daughter. You can see it labelled as such during the verbal confrontation with Rig.

cant wait to get the game
