If Nintendo is looking to make acquisitions, Platinum would be a really good first get.

Knowing that future Platinum games would be Wii U exclusive would go a long way towards convincing me to buy the platform.

Guess I'll have to buy a used Wii U at the local games trade shop, play Bayonetta 2, then return it. I miss game system rentals. I remember renting a SNES to play Super Metroid while on vacation...because "there wasn't enough space in the car" to bring mine. Ahhhh, the good old days.

God fucking damn it no. The LAST company on earth I want being owned by Nintendo is platinum, their games are glorious visual feats of amazement and they need to be on proper next gen consoles not dated garbage ones. I'm still pissed this game is exclusive as I've been dying for Bayonetta 2 since the original.

'Twas 3 weeks ago that this one lost his Bayonetta virginity. To this trailer, I offer the same declaration I offered upon beating The Wonderful 101:

Take my money, and then drink my Wonder-Juice. Every last drop (but mostly my money).

Never played the first one.... sex is not a selling point for me. Crazy game play.... maybe... but I just think I need more. Might pass again. :(

As a big fan of the first one, it plays with sex and has fun with it, but I feel like it never sells itself with it.

It's not something everyone agrees with, but the game is not remotely erotic. Despite what the public conversation has dictated I've found Bayonetta to always sell itself on attitude far, far more than sex.

The gameplay is also a delight and the core appeal of the game. I can't recommend it enough.

@hunter5024: Yes, that is indeed the problem. Nintendo is the worse place for this game, and it's really confusing why they're fronting it. All in all it is wonderful the game is being made, but I'm not sure it has chance at all on the WiiU.

I always thought Bayonetta was the female version of No More Heroes. All the erotic parts come off as more funny than sexy.

Nope.

That don't mean a damn thing these days. Wait a year after release slap a subtitle on the game and add a little bit of new content and its a different enough game that you pole vault right over any legal red tape preventing this from being on other consoles. It will happen. Tecmo wanted Ninja Gaiden 2 on the PS3 badly enough and that was Microsoft Published and it happened. Same will happen to Bayonetta mark my words we'll have to wait a good while for it to release on other platforms but it will.

I would probably seriously consider buying a WiiU for this. Thankfully, it's not a debate I need to have with myself, as I'm already planning to buy a WiiU for Smash Bros, so I'll definitely be getting my Bayonetta on. The first game remains possibly the finest Character Action Game I've ever played. Incredible combat mechanics, fantastic design, and fabulously ridiculous throughout.

The sacred mountain of Thimbleventor?!!

Now I have to buy this game.

And I would absolutely sign a petition to have all trailers for Wii U Exclusives end on "Only on Wii U" + *orgasm*.

Getting a kind of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom vibe from this. So Bayonetta 3 is going to rock.

I think a lot of people here still don't realize that this game wouldn't exist for you to drool over if it wasn't for Nintendo.

This game was dead along time ago. Sega didn't see the dollar signs in the series, but Nintendo did. So at least be happy that it exists

Maybe you can buy a super cheap Wii U for $50 five years from now and play it then? Better than nothing

I figure it has to right? I mean no slight against the WiiU but nobody is fucking buying it. Bayonetta is already sort of a niche game that appeals to a specific audience and that audience is cut down by a lot on the WiiU. If you get Nintendo to publish and fund it that means you at least get to make the thing. Once its made and they have the assets its a way more minimal investment to port it down later. The important thing is that you were funded and you got a chance in the first place to build those assets.

How ironic this is the first game on a 'next gen console' that would convince me to get that console based on this game alone as I loved the first one..... and it's on.... WiiU? Omg.. I will buy a WiiU? urrrhhmm..

(then again the WiiU will also have lots of games for the kids)

@cdub901: I think it's safe to say that most, if not all of the people that are interested in Bayo 2 are somewhat familiar with the events that led up to its Wii U exclusivity. It's always good when Platinum pumps out another game, but it's on a $300 console with a questionable future. That's the part that stings.

@joeshabadoo: I've got nothing but time.

@ripelivejam: It's less 'hate' and more, "Wow! It sucks that Bayo 2 ended up on a system with very little to offer.' I felt the urge to buy a Wii U for Smash Bros and Bayo 2, but outside of those two, there's nothing on the platform that I have any interest in.

No kidding. That is what publishers do dude. They fund the games they handle marketing that is their jobs. That still doesn't exclude the same kind of scenario that happened with like I already pointed out Ninja Gaiden 2.

No kidding because Tecmo found funding and a publisher pretty quickly. Just because Nintendo is funding it doesn't mean they own Bayonetta or any of the assets that P Games is making for Bayonetta 2 THAT is still all owned by Platinum games. It being canceled means nothing other than that SEGA bailed out as publisher and they couldn't secure new funding in a reasonable time line.

That still doesn't change the fact that the scenario that I laid out is perfectly plausible. If they actually go through with it who knows but legally speaking it COULD happen because again Nintendo doesn't own the assets or the characters or the IP they own the rights to distribute and publish THIS version of the game.

@demoskinos: With the example of Ninja Gaiden 2 (and others like Tales of Vesperia and Eternal Sonata), that is a Japanese developer using some American money to make a game for an American console that sold poorly in Japan. Yes, Wii U isn't doing so hot in Japan either, but it has more of chance than the Xbox 360 had. Also, whatever agreement Microsoft had with Tecmo and Namco Bandai at the time probably had some timed-exclusivity clause that was the best Microsoft could negotiate.

How much can be expected that Nintendo (a Japanese company that will have tighter ties with Japanese developers and publishers) probably has Bayonetta 2 (and The Wonderful 101) tied up much more tightly to the Wii U than Ninja Gaiden 2 was to the Xbox 360? Unless there is news otherwise, it is safe to assume Nintendo is assuming enough (or all) financial risk on Bayonetta 2 to have an agreement with Sega and Platinum Games to practically lock Bayonetta 2 (and possible upgraded version) to the Wii U.

If you really want Bayonetta on another platform, you are better off hoping that Sony or Microsoft pays for Bayonetta 3 or Bayonetta Full-HD Remake to be on their respective systems. Or for Sega to be drunk and have so much leftover Hatsune Miku+Yakuza+pachinko money to fund Platinum to do whatever.

@demoskinos: @roycampbell: There is a high chance this game will come to other platforms, just not in a timely fashion. I'm kind of expecting a Resident Evil 4 situation happening here where we wait a few years and it will start cropping up elsewhere - the only problem is how much will anyone care by that point?

It's unfortunate that it was Nintendo who agreed to finance it instead of one of the big name third party publisher but c'est la vie. Also all the people saying "you don't get it it wouldn't even exist if it didn't come to Wii U you should be happy it's there at all!" seem to be missing the point where for most people the game exiting on Wii U is very much like it not existing at all. There is a small percentage of gamers that might buy an entire console for a single game, but most won't.
