Bombshell, Born From the Ashes of a Duke Nukem Lawsuit

I can really imagine the brainstorming session that lead to this:

Guy1: we need an replacement for duke nukem and it needs to be better than duke!

Guy2: how about we give him boobs? Boobs make everything more awesome!

Guy1: sounds solid! But let's add something edgy sci-if like, that's all the rage these days, how about some cyborg implants?

Guy2: make it an mechanical arm, that's genius! You wanna eat tacos for lunch?

Guy1: sure lets eat some tacos, this job is already finished.

And alas we end up with above character... Duke with boobs and a mechanical arm.

this looks fucking awful....

Hype level: zero.

Maybe some gameplay footage 3 years from now will change that. In any case, the character design feels like somebody read a bunch of bomb queen and decided she would be totally sweet with a robot arm as well.

Kinda cool the way she watches TV in the same smokey void where Duke lifts weights.

I guess it's somewhat baffling to me why anyone would pay for the 3D Realms name, even if they thought they were getting the Duke IP along with it, after the huge embarassment that was DNF.

Lord in Heaven, why would anyone want to go anywhere near 3DR? You get to work on one project for 12-14 years under leadership with no unifying vision, and when the game finally comes out, the critics take a shit all over it and you can't find any other work...

At least Interceptor has the awesome ROTT remake under their belt.

Oh wow that was HORRIBLE. That could absolutely have been a Duke Nukem trailer from 5 years ago, except with a robot lady model subbed in for Duke and without Jon St John's voice.

How can anybody possibly think that would get somebody excited to play their game?

"Shit, guys, we can't use Duke. Okay... what if Duke was a chick, but the whole thing is still obsessed with tits and booze and guns and being a cartoon badass? That'll work, right?"

EDIT: Oh, she's literally a Duke Nukem side character to begin with. Even less creative than the barely-above-zero level of creativity I thought it had, then. Super.

Flying Wild Hog made Shadow Warrior, Interceptor made Rise of the Triad, which also was totally rad.

I like how, one, this trailer doesn't convey that it's an isometric shooter, and two, people seem to think 3D Realms is developing this, not Interceptor, who put out the pretty rad Shadow Warrior.

A chair and tv in an empty black void. The character has dead eyes, she moves like a robot, specifically like 3d characters from old games. This is followed by random explosions in the void? what the tv and chair blew up?

The best I can say about that trailer is to call it very embarrassing. Hope the game plays a lot better than the trailer shows...

So, I just looked up 3D Realms page and I'm wondering... why were they ever relevant? Nothing outside of Duke 3D in their catalogue looks remotely noteworthy. As a developer, I mean. Apparently they did publish Max Payne and Wolfenstein 3D.
