Today was a good day of GB content.

I hate to be that guy, but Brad is really bad. He shouldn't be this bad at the game since he beat DmC, but I guess that's a testament to how little you need to know to beat DmC compared to the main series.

If he reaches DMC3 there is no way he'd get out of the first tutorial boss fight. Actually, will he be doing the true DMC3 or the easy special edition version?

To be fair, he hasn't played the game in over 2 months (and there was also 2 months between part 2 and 3). I don't think this is a fair comparison to how he played DMC since he played that game in a much shorter span of time compared to this.

It's the HD collection right so it must be the Special Edition. If he plays DMC3 though, he should play the PC version....

One might say that Brad and Vinny had a Nightmare of a time at the end.

Keep in mind that the dude hasn't played the game but three prior times (aside from the times he played it when it first released which, re: how good he'd be at it is a moot point), and each of those times have been spread out across several months. And he's having to talk and commentate and entertain us as he plays (not easy).

That's true, but it still doesn't excuse spamming the grenade launcher and ignoring his sword and then complaining about being unable to Devil Trigger. The worst was Brad saying Air Raid wasn't working when he wasn't pressing RB in the air. Even Vinny called him out on that.

Oh man, that camera is so bad. Also, holy shit that scream when Brad beat the bird, fuck Bradley, my speakers man.

I love that half the time Brad will stand there spamming the grenade launcher, and the other half of the time unknowingly cancels out of the shooting animation by either dodging to the side or jumping, but can't put two and two together.

DMC1 is a pretty basic game so if Brad goes on with the series I see him breaking down further.

10:24 in, Vinny mentions my suggestion to buy Inferno, despite me seemingly being the least knowledgeable person concerning DMC in the chat.

I think my favorite part is that he's brute forcing his way through the game despite this incompetence, but what do you expect when they haven't played it for two months? It'd be funny watching him try to play DMC 3, that's for sure. I don't expect he'd get past Cerberus.

got to see him getting owned by Frosts. The most awesome enemy in any action games.

Dunno, he might have a better time with DMC 3 the controls in that game are just waaaaaayyyy better than DMC 1. It might be an easier game to play with taking these long breaks.

Greg Kasavin reviewed DMC3 for Gamespot and even he couldn't beat Cerberus without a huge amount of effort. I remember that the review was late because he couldn't get past that boss fight.

EDIT: Here we go. In the video review Greg says it took him 2 days to get past the 2nd level. The same 15 minutes over the course of 2 days.

Anyone think the new DMC is pretty easy? Compared to past Devil May Cry games I thought it was, at least going off of normal. While you could easily beat a DMC game on normal before I felt they at least provided some challenge compared to other games normal mode these days (aka, normal is mostly easy now).

I never said you don't. I said he was spamming his grenade launcher while ignoring his sword. He was also complaining about being unable to activate his devil trigger. Two different unrelated things.

I'm not sure that quite excuses stuff like him refusing to jump on the platforms obviously there to help him avoid the otherwise undodgeable lasers, even when Vinny keeps prodding him to.

It is, it provides just enough challenge to offer some satisfaction for the regular joe but like most games these days normal has been designed to be beaten, not overcome (personally I'm okay with this). DmC is particularly going to feel easy if you always felt a DMC game before was an easy beat on Normal (personally I found them pretty rough - mostly DMC3).

Unrelated note, Brad has gone a while between basically each play so he's practically starting from scratch all over again every time he picks up the pad to play Devil May Cry. It's hard to get better and learn how a game like DMC's mechanics and controls work when you're just playing it once in a blue moon. Anyone complaining about Brad being "really bad" needs to ease up, I think he's doing a decent job considering and I've personally had fun rooting for him during this stuff.

Two months in between segments is too long though. Watching Brad basically starting from scratch everytime can be somewhat tedious at times and it also doesn't do the game proper justice. Many of Brad's complaints stem from the fact that he never even got the chance to become good at this game. Him jumping around, not knowing what to do, randomly trying out buttons, often also worsens the camera issues the game undeniably has. Because normally, you learn to deal with those issues rather well to the point where they are hardly bothersome anymore. Your playstyle just adapts to the camera system and Brad hasn't reached that point yet.

Furthermore, it'd be nice if Brad used some other weapons from time to time. More pistols, more shotgun (most awesome weapon in the game!) and more sword instead of just punching guys and throwing grenades. He apparently assumes those are the most effective weapons but they really are not ideal in many situations.

I can't believe he manages to progress in this game without using the dodge move.

@cptbedlam: To be fair, on normal difficulty grenade roll+air raid destroys most things.

@knite: I'm surprised he finishes any games the way he plays.

It's like Brad isn't thinking about whats going on while hes playing. Sooo frustrating.

Can't he see that he is shooting the grenade launcher at the shield part and not the floating orb?

I don't really care about Bradley May Cry, but if it was Bradley: Prepare to Die Edition, oh yes, I can get behind that idea.

Pretty good week on Giantbomb... seems like they are back to their former glory.
