@flappy: Nah, you're not the only one. I actually like DMC2 better than DMC1. It's flawed, but I actually really like the feel of the movement and acrobatics in it. I hate that the later games lock the wall runs and such to the Trickster style, as opposed to being able to use everything at once. DMC2 makes you feel way more hardcore because of it.

They at least have to try DMC2, just for due diligence. People overreact a lot when they talk about it, and honestly, Brad's playstyle is actually pretty well suited to it. His reliance on guns would really pay off there, so he could blow through it quick.

Also, I would totally be in for a Kingdom Hearts feature. I still don't understand where their pure hatred of the series comes from. Could be educational.

I played through it for the first time a month ago, no nostalgia here, and enjoyed the shit out of it. Wish I had it back when it came out.

Oh I was basing it on my own experience of watching it. Really dated mechanics in my opinion and so painfully Japanese but some people can look past that I guess - although when you consider your other modern choices I don't know why you'd want to.

@humanity: The mechanics feel "dated" because you've seen them used in every other 3rd person melee focused action game since DmC basically invented the genre. Regardless, it is rarely ever "safe to say" anything about a game's quality when you haven't played it.

The difference is that I've seen them used in other character action games but executed a lot better. I'm also referring to things like the save system, lack of checkpoints, strange economy, switching weapons through a menu instead of in-game etc - things that are not present in modern games because they are no longer deemed as efficient or good solutions.

Also while I agree that you should always reserve judgement until you have played the game yourself, sometimes you can draw enough conclusions from gameplay, especially when you have seen the entire game played from start to finish, to form an opinion.

Is it possible to get the volume peaks turned down for future videos? Voices still crackling bad when yelling happens.

@humanity: Fair enough. However, I think it's the natural way of things for these kind of games to evolve over time. Those later games are able do various things better than DMC because they had it's example to follow.

My only point is the progenitor of a genre deserves some amount of respect, even if it hasn't aged well. Very few games of that era do.

Assumption of ignorance is a classic defense to a broad attack. Knowing nothing about me, and it being the only card you have to play, I do not entirely blame you.

oh Brad, please please please do Kingdom Hearts next. I want to see you rage at the first game's controls

@icantbestopped: Most anime is terrible, much like most video games, and movies, and books, and tv shows are terrible. It doesn't mean you should discount the entire medium, because there are good examples.

Devil May Cry 4 probably has the best combat in the series but the worst levels.

Seriously though, you do sound ignorant if you dismiss everything associated with one entertainment medium. This is not meant as an attack on you, but have you actually watched multiple anime? Even if you've watched 10% of all anime that leaves you with 90% of the content that might prove you wrong.

Sure, I admit the most popular anime right here, Dragonball Z, is mostly about over the top action. That's not to say it doesn't have a message behind it, but sure, I'll give you that. But not every anime is like that.

I've recently started watching Attack on Titan and it's really amazing. It does have some action scenes, but character progression is central to that series. It has a good story. Why don't you give it a shot? If you aren't interested in the premise after the first episode you know it's not for you. If it doesn't have you hooked after 6 or so episodes then you can let go as well.

Try it. Instead of dismissing on presumptions.

I'd love to see Brad play DMC4. I feel like I'm one of so few people who loved that game.

Glad Vinny mentioned DMC 3 Dante, he kind of really IS the one everybody likes.

@vinny You definitely need to watch FMA Brootherhood. I think the actual story from the manga is much more exciting and interesting than the plodding pace and contrived motivations from the first anime. That's just my opinion though. Many people do really like the original anime.

@flappy: I remember really enjoying DMC2 more so than the first one. I only played through Dante's story though. I remember the game have a really cool final boss.

I loved the anime, But I never read the Manga. I loved the mixed science/faith ( you can create a body but it has no sole ) and the whole dual worlds idea. But I also liked Tails of Symphonia for the same reason.

Can't wait for DMC 2!

This ending is why I questioned how people got so offended about DmC not adhering to the "canon".

It does bring to light how silly *some* people on the anti-DmC train are though, when the argument for the ruining of a franchise really comes down to just one of the games.

I'd still like to see DMC 3. I actually really like the story stuff in that one, and it evolves the combat so much.

But then again... Brad taking on an even more complicated one may end in tears. Of laughter?

Anime isn't a medium, they're cartoons just like animation from any other country. Hell in Japan they don't even have a distinction between Japanese and non-Japanese cartoons, Dragon Ball Z and The Simpsons are both just referred to as anime.

It's more like if somebody told you they specifically don't like Japanese video games, which is a valid viewpoint since they're made with a different cultural audience in mind and thus don't necessarily mesh with their Western tastes and expectations.

I should, should I? How have I been "stopped", exactly? By the person you quoted? I don't think so. I see a defensive person who thinks I'm a person who's never seen any anime ever. At least you try to provide examples of something one should watch. Yes, I've seen multiple animes, these include the entire run of Dragon Ball Z, and all its movies (with Broli, Janemba, Bojack, etc), the entirety of Neon Genesis Evangelion, the entirety of something something Lain (about a girl who can go into the internet and stuff), Cowboy Bebop, Angel Sanctuary (which is about a kid who is in love with his sister, but really the kid is a reincarnation of an angel), Ghost in the Shell (which was probably the most unanime anime I've seen, and was alright, but really... not worth sitting through the entirety of).

I'm missing some, I know there's more. I had a best friend into the stuff, and tried really, really hard to get into it, but it didn't work out. It just sucks.

You need you understand Japanese culture before you can be critical of their animation.

Cromartie High is an anime I feel like the Giant Bomb guys and probably most Giant Bomb users would enjoy. It's very funny, and has good English VA.

At what point do we stop pretending and admit that this was a premium only Endurance Run?
