The prospect of temporarily teaming up while on a story mission actually sounds pretty cool.

Seems ok. If it was coming out on PC, I'd probably get it.

Seems like a borderlands with a grander scale of landmass and multiplayer options.

It's hard to get excited about this, when you have concepts like Rust on PC. If the grander scale included building a homebase with your friends/faction, raiding and defending against other players.

Considering what they've said about the supposed size and longevity of this game, so far, the ambition doesn't seem to match the rumoured budget.

i don't know wtf this game is

Exactly. I really hope this game is good, but Bungie is doing a shit job of selling the game. All their videos are like "this is a Bungie FPS but we're in a huge open world where you can make your own adventure."

Stop using bullshit PR speak are show people why this game is good. Why exactly do I need to play this? For instance, the supers they describe sound awesome, why don't they show that in slow mo and explain WTF is going on. Instead we get a 10 sec clip of some dude jumping in the air and unleashing a fireball. If that's all it is this game is going be super underwhelming.

I Love me some story. Because of Titanfall, and Bungie's own track record, I got a feeling that this won't be the future in FPS storytelling but I wish it was.

Bungie have said that everybody can play together. Which makes it sound like Xbox/PlayStation people can play with each other, but there's no way that's going to be possible. Even I've been confused about this at points (and still kinda am).

For those saying this game doesn't have a story; humanity has figured out how to colonize other planets and explore space. However, some kind of evil...thing looks set to destroy humanity until The Traveler (the globe-looking thing) shows up to save humanity. Though The Traveler does save humanity, it destroys itself in the process and is left hovering over the last safe human city on Earth. As a customizable guardian (there's no one defined main player character), you inhabit a "shared world" experience with many other guardians (re: human players) as you fight aliens on many different planets/moons in the hopes of saving humanity and learning more about the universe.

Holy crap, so many buzz words and over-explaining things when really all you need to say is "there are public group events"

I wish they would just talk to us like we're people instead of just blow smoke up our ass.

negativity, thy name is Giantbomb

I guess Watch Dogs is close enough now that everyone's had to shift gears on their peanut gallery griping. I'm not a fan of this style of promotion, but previous gameplay footage has looked interesting so I'm still on board.

I'm confused. My excitement and interest have rapidly dropped off after watching this.

Hearing them talk about their incredible combat made it sound incredibly dull. "Pull left and right trigger together!" that's pretty much that last thing I want to hear.

I was hoping this was going to be more akin to a Diablo FPS and succeed where Borderlands failed. Even the art style seems to be gradually meshing into the typical designs we see more and more. Which is very strange, not only because It's Bungie but because that first gameplay they showed us looked so amazing.

A bit confused by this statement. Where did Borderlands fail exactly?

i don't know wtf this game is

my thought exactly. its sure interesting but there is still no way of knowing what its really gonna be.

this looks like designed-by-committee game.

also, a note to developers of sci fi games: the earth is the least interesting place you could possibly choose to place your story. a major part of sci fi appeal is space which has an infinite supply of alien stuff in it that is not the same old fucking earth and moon that everybody sees ever fucking day of their miserabl... sorry. i get carried away. i read a lot of sci fi. it hurts me, pains me, in the lower abdominal region, when i sense mediocre sci fi is being made. xp

I'm in a public marketplace, where everyone has come together to browse menus and press buttons.

I actually think that its the most interesting place to have scifi. the future holds an infinite number of directions that lead to an infinite number of futures but they all lead back to where we are now and that makes them more interesting to me as possible futures for our slice of the galaxy.

Oh boy, switching from 1st person and 3rd person mid game... Because that's ALWAYS worked out before...

I just hate it when games do that. Choose first or third and stick with it!

Also this looks super bland. I want to be excited for this but they just haven't shown us anything I find interesting yet. Maybe I'm just done with the FPS genre for a while.

It's just for cutscene-ish things though. Worked perfectly for Halo games earlier when you jumped into vehicles, mounted turrets or assassinated someone.

Ah that's fine then. I have no problems with switching between first and third if the player doesn't have any control at the time.

This looks to be full of win. The bosses however, are a mixed bag. Fans of the genre should take a look.

Those are some really milquetoast talking points for a game that looks like nothing more than flashy Tabula Rasa.

$500 million can't buy you decent marketing it seems like. They're either being far to cagey about this game and what sets it apart, or it's just not that exciting.

Hopefully they'll make some major reveals at E3 because that Beta is getting close.
