California Extreme 2010: The Floor

It's like some weird dimensional space pocket where arcades aren't dead.

What I also liked about this video... the low rumble growing in volume as Ryan moved towards the doors to the convention. 

Wow you guys walked into some kind of time rift. Looks awesome.

So this is what the West Coast is like.

Giant Bomb guys - I love you, but seriously, you guys need to buy a steadycam or learn to hold the camera better.  Also, not constantly zoom in on everything.  It's getting pretty tough to watch some of these videos without getting motion sickness.
 
Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that the camerawork needs some serious improvement.

What I'm wondering is how much power does this place draw. 

If I lived within 500 miles of this, I'd be going every year they'd have me.

We don't even have any good arcades on Long Island anymore...

To me that looked like a 1980's dystopian vision of the future, without the heavily armed guards on raised platforms ,atmospheric smoke, or giant cage for matches in the middle.

Love the cocktail arcade cabinets. This is what Game Room should have been.

Oh, if only Game Room could be like this. Packed with every different type of game (even if not always playable just to have that paddle thing) and packed with people, not just a dozen friends' avatar standing around broken.

I have a strange feeling of déjà vu. Were they there last year?

man imagine if they just charged a quarter for the games and left it open all year.

I don't think I've ever seen a pinball machine in my life.
This concept of a gathering of these devices terrifies me.

bummer that you can't read most of the titles on the machines.  i know it's nearly impossible to get that kind of thing legible on video, not blaming anybody.

Middle-aged fat guys with pony-tails need to die.  If I were in the business of killing them, business would be booming.
 
Great to see a lot of different ages, races, and genders too.  Like many others, I wish I was there.

Ryan Davis is weak to Asteroids confirmed. Nice that you had the time to bother that one dude riding the bike. Was he playing a pinball table with it? That's crazy. I thought it was an arcade game at first glance.

I would love for something like this to be anywhere near me. I'm not a huge arcade nut or retro game aficionado, but there is something undeniably cool about vintage arcade machines. I particularly like vector display ones, since they offer something quite unlike what modern devices provide.

I feel like the Dude in Big Lebowski listening to the sounds of bowling. Arcade is my favorite white noise of all.

I might overdose on ponytails.
