That's the most well rounded and enjoyable video review I've yet seen on Giantbomb. Great job Jeff, the explosion montage made me laugh!

Wow a pretty long video review. Sweet

I'd add an "Above and beyond the Call" joke here, but I haven't touched my copy of Battlefield 3 since the day after release.

MW3 looks damn gorgeous, but is this going to be the last "mammoth" Call of Duty game?

HOORAY

I'm glad lack of creativity has taken the stage, I want something new to take over.

Give me more assassin's creed style risk taking in games damn it. I new experiences!

For someone that is semi-interested in MW3, this video review is very informative and pretty funny. Great job Jeff and Drew.

Great editing and I mean great editing for this video review!

Also I think this review features the best use of Bad Boys 2 since well...ever. That's considering the fact that Bad Boys 2 doesn't know how to use what was good about Bad Boys 2 in the first place.

This was a good review. Thanks Jeff

Awesome review. I'll stick to BF3 though, don't have time to try this.

Posted by RsistncE

I'm surprised he gave it a 4, he definitely seems to be way more critical of the game evidenced by the heavy amounts of sarcasm he uses. Game looks meh, played this 2 years ago.

Posted by fuzzypumpkin

had a feeling it wasnt gonnna be another 5 star game. still looks good though

Explosions! and top-notch editing by Drew.

Did Michael Bay produce this review?

"This is another Call of Duty game"... PUT IT ON THE BOX AND SHIP IT!

Edit: DAT ENDING!

Posted by Thompson820

Loved the review, especially the explosion montage and that ending...

Not going to pick this one up myself. CoD has crossed the line of boredom for me and i'm happy with BF3.

So many explosions!

Same old experience then, I disagree with Jeff on one point, I think they should have dramatically changed the formula up already. Been burnt to many times by Call of Duty now so will gladly skip this one. At least some of the changes in multiplayer actually sound interesting. But please Infinity Ward/Activision, as someone who played the hell out of the original Call of Duty on PC, please please develop a new graphics engine.

Just noticed MW3 is £39.99 on Steam... say what? Is this the average price for the PC version, if so Activision are going to be rolling in even more cash.

Really entertaining video review. Loved the explosion montage.

Posted by VIGGO123

That was a pretty large quantity of explosions.

ASPLOSIONS. that strike stuff sounds really neat. bummer about all the rail sequences, but i gotta know what happens to soap and price.

Goddamn, I love a "Shit just got real" reference. And I don't even give a shit about MW3 or whatever.

Jeff is looking good.

Outstanding quality video review. Funny, informative, well edited. A++ Will watch again.

Not at all surprised they fell back to using on-rails shooting sequences after losing most of their creative team. They've just plain run out of ideas for this series, needs a fresh look desperately.

Also 7:11 dat car texture... yuck

Looking forward to my copy arriving, today. BF and COD/MW each have their place and I enjoy playing the hell out of both. More MW is fine with me, the same way more BF was fine with me for BF3. Wasn't expecting anything earth shattering. I presume they've done about as much as they can on this generation and we'll be waiting until the release after the next one for something to really blow our minds (and enjoying BF3 on the PC, in the mean time).

The only real shame in it all is what a shameless money grab it is. If we keep on buying it, then I guess more power to them, but . . . two years between releases seems more sensible.

Real question is . . . how am I going to fit this into my time alongside BF3, CS:S/CS:GO, RO2 and then the non-shooters like Skyrim, Assassin's Creed, Saints Row, finishi, and finishing Batman?! Gaaaah. Life was so much simpler when you played CS and Civilization and then tossed an occasional RPG into the mix. Too much choice. *sigh*

It seemed pretty obvious to me a few weeks ago that MW3 would get whatever score BF3 would get. Could you imagine the outrage if either one scored higher than the other?

After about 3 comment revisions of trying to put my thoughts into words, I decided "Fuck it", I'll be short.

I don't know if I enjoy MW multiplayer anymore, but I'm going to pick this up to finish out the story. 60 bucks may be a waste for a 5 hour campaign as that money can be better spent on virtually anything else but I'm going to do it and I hate myself for it.

Edit: I guess Gary Whitta did some script punch-up work at 5:28 :)

I kind of want this now to see the closure of the MW story... Great video review, also!

Nah dude, the part where that thing explodes is clearly from the first MW.

That's would be horseshit journalism/reviewing and I like to think that that sort of thing doesn't happen at Giantbomb.

Ha! Another police sketch Jeff cameo.

Best video review you guys have done. Very informative, professional, but also with the GB flair. I was laughing out loud at each BBII reference. The montages were great and the multiplayer footage got that blood flowing again. Well done Jeff, and the GB crew.

Not when it's so easy to justify a 4/5 in both instances. If a 5/5 had been considered for either game (and that would be hard to justify in both cases, also) there would have certainly been a long pause for consideration about the unholy rage that would surely unleash among the "but I only play one of these games and you slagged the one I like!" people. And, as someone who plays both, I suspect a solid 4/5 is pretty accurate in each case, anyway.

I think I still enjoy it, a lot. The campaign has always been a popcorn thrill-ride thing, anyway. Some harmless and fairly thoughtless fun. It was the multiplayer that made it worth while. Therefore, the changes in each iteration are just (as far as I'm concerned) tweaks to the formula. Like the NBA adjusting the 24 second clock rule or introducing a new challenge in American Gladiators. Unfortunately, the "release every year" plan has ground things to what seems almost like a halt (though MW3 does have some multiplayer changes I am happy to see). By releasing every year, they have only helped emphasize how stale the engine and the console generation are getting - especially since they seem to have really maxed things out a few iterations ago (and done it while maintaining that sweet framerate).

What's worse, is we probably have two more iterations on this generation of consoles - unless the one after the next one is really truly developed for and on the next generation. So unless the story aspect really picks up (maybe MW becomes a sort of Sam Fisher lone-wolf clandestine romp? . . kinda hope not), I expect everyone to feel let down in twelve more months, too. Then we'll all lose our shit around this time of year in 2013 when we see a new platform and are reminded that these guys (even in the post IW split) know a thing or two.

Really, though, these annual releases have gotta stop. They're hitting the exact same pitfalls that the sports titles do. Too little too often and too hard to justify the investment.

I think I might be all explosioned out here.
