I'll wait till I hear about the port. Could be another Watch Dogs all over again.

These consoles seem more and more appealing each day... Well, not really. I'm glad I mainly play games on PC.

Remember, though: Dead Rising 3 would not exist without Microsoft having funded it. It would not exist without Xbox One.

Hope it'll be a bit better than DR2 was on PC. But I have high hopes. This game seemed great.

It's a Microsoft published game. Windows is a Microsoft platform. PS4 is not.

What was wrong with DR2 on PC? I had a great time with it.

I very rarely buy a game on PC during the first week but if they don't somehow mess up the port I will gladly pick this up soon after it launches.

Doesn't look like its received uncompressed textures or better shadows or anything, expecting a bare-bones port here, hoping that it's properly optimized and doesn't run or look like crud! But i'l reserve judgement until Totallbiscuit inevitably covers it.

Also, 1 less reason to own an Xbox One, these new consoles are heaving a hard time selling themselves to me...

@stingingvelvet: Microsoft also published Ninja Gaiden 2, which eventually appeared on the PS3 and elsewhere with a subtitle slapped on the end. I expect we'll eventually see Capcom do the same here. They still own the game, just not the exact SKU Microsoft published.

This is the best trailer they have made for this game. How did they almost completely fail to capitalize on the weirdness for the initial release?

Hey guess which game I would have gotten an Xbone for if money had been less of an issue in my life.

You got it.

This game.

If Windows 8 will totally be required to get the game running and with no way to hack it to work on Win7x64 then I'll get that along with it because man, 1080p60 DR3 with no black crush.

I'm excited. This and Forza 5 were the things pushing me towards getting an Xbox One. With Forza being the way it turned out, this game was really the only thing I wanted for the Xbox One. Can't wait.

@bbk: I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's surely much less likely than a Windows port, which is another Microsoft platform. I'm sure there were lines in the publishing contract about not putting the game on PS4 that were a lot stronger than the lines about the PC.

Well this is certainly an infinitely better trailer than the original reveal. Makes me wonder how much the MS of early 2013 had a say in what could be shown in that first presentation; it would explain a lot.

Literally the only reason I had to buy an Xbox One is gone and to be honest it never tempted me that much, f paying £400 plus for one okay looking game. I'll totally pick this up for PC now though.

Seems like Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot by giving people less reasons to buy their new console, but this is good for consumers.

I knew this game would jump over to the PC eventually. To be honest, this was the game that had me seriously considering buying the Xbox One. Glad I saved my money. Now if Capcom and Microsoft could get off their asses and release Dead Rising 1 on PC already and package the whole thing as a trilogy we would be in business.

@stingingvelvet: Most likely you're right.

BUT if they decide to release a new SKU called "Dead Rising 3: Off the Record" with our good friend Frank West and his erotic camera in the lead role... well let's just say I'm writing this in hopes that someone from Capcom is reading it.

Weird. I guess I don't need an Xbox One after all (although, sadly only this game and Ryse were on my list of possible games to get for the Xbox One anyway). Hopefully by 2015 there will be some great games out there.

According to Wikipedia, this version is being published by Capcom and not Microsoft, so hopefully it eventually comes to PS4 too.

Windows, other than a one time licensing fee, is not a Microsoft platform as far as games go. My PC may as well be a Steam box, and the cash goes to Valve. I've seen several One fans try to damage control this by saying "Oh, well Microsoft makes Windows, so it's okay", and they do, and I'm sure they'd rather this go PC than anything Sony runs, but the first 5 or 6 comments on this video alone should show a reason for buying this has been lost.

@icantbestopped: Most of the APIs used to develop games for Windows are platform specific. There is some parity between Xbox API and .NET API so games developed on Xbox are probably somewhat easier to port to PC. This is a completely different case for PS4.

As cool as that is, Microsoft still doesn't control the PC gaming space. Some people act like PC/Xbox is the same as the PS4/PS3/Vita ecosystem. Nope. They may as well be Steam boxes (except in the rare cases of things like Titanfall, in which case the money still isn't going to MS).

The difference is Microsoft funded the development of Dead Rising 3. They didn't just publish it. It's Microsoft's money that made the game possible.

Capcom would need to buy out the contract they made with MS in order for them to put it on the PS4 and I seriously doubt they want to spend that kind of money on a game they (Capcom) didn't even want to fund in the first place.

DR3 is basically a second party game. Microsoft's relationship with Capcom in this situation is like that of Sony's with Naughty Dog. DR3 has as much chance of appearing on the PS4 as Naughty Dog's games do on a Microsoft system.

Never gonna happen.

The original Dead Rising was the first game developed on the MT Framework engine and the first game developed for the 360 by Capcom. As such it was coded entirely within the 360's infrastructure. This is why DR1 never ended up on the PS3 as it would've required them to recode the entire game and if you're going to do that you might as well just make a new game, ie the amount of resources it would take to do that would be better spent on something else.

The version of Dead Rising that existed on the Wii (Chop Till You Drop) was built on the RE4 engine. It wasn't a port of the original game.

The Capcom Vancouver team wanted to move away from Frank West, which is why he doesn't appear in DR3. It's also why in the story he cut all ties to the existing characters and why they set DR3 far enough into the future that Frank would be in his 50's when the game takes place.

The only reason original Off The Record got made was because DR2 didn't do as well as Capcom would've liked it to, so Capcom Vancouver (then Blue Castle) was sort of forced into doing a Fan Service Cash Grab adaption of DR2.

Steam is a great service that is taking control of a lot of aspects of PC gaming, but it's nothing... nothing... without Windows. The reason Valve is angling to get SteamOS going strong is to stop Microsoft from having so much control over them. I don't see that happening for a long time though, if ever, because Windows is so entrenched as the PC gaming platform. And even if SteamOS takes off you're still talking 30+ years of gaming history on Windows that isn't going away.

And then on top of that Microsoft control DirectX, which 99% of 3D games use.

No offense intended but you can't know much about PC gaming if you think Windows/Microsoft is expendable.
