Check Out Need for Speed: Most Wanted's Open World Gameplay

Those engines sound so friggin powerful. I just hope they're getting the handling model right in this one. Hot Pursuit was passable but not ideal, and The Run had some of the least fun handling I've seen in a driving game in quite some time.

God that HUD is a real clusterf**k i hope you can turn some elements off so that it just shows the map..

You know for a Criterion game it seems odd that the driver was pretty bad at his burnouts.

It's crazy that you would call Burnout handling chunky, because it was the smoothest buttery driving experience ever. True white-knuckle. Hot Pursuit did not have a handling model close to Paradise. It was very sluggish by comparison.

I think I am more intrigued by the sound design than anything else in the game. I mean, listen to that Aston Martin roar!

Can't wait to dive into this. Dunno how many hours I dumped into Burnout Paradise but it was a relatively obsessive/unhealthy amount. I liked their rendition of Hot Pursuit too but this looks to be an even better installment.

What NFS sequel will feature in an unskippable ad this time?

This looks way more like Paradise than Most Wanted. I realize I'm one of like five heathens who didn't like Burnout Paradise, but I really loved the original Most Wanted and Carbon; feels like this game probably isn't for me. I guess the main thing kind of drawing me back in here is the inclusion of police. The pacing looks like it's more my speed than Paradise though, so I might be able to get into this game.

I wish the hud look a little dirtier it looks too clean and classy, I need it to be dirtier with some tilted texts and letters with solid color contours.

It looks.... really slow compared to Burnout Paradise. I mean it looks entirely serviceable and fine as an open world racing game but it just looks like it would feel so slow to be driving in it.

Isn't the next Forza game supposed to be open world too? I mean if I'm going to get a more realistic speed open world racing game I'd probably opt for a more realistic game to match that feeling.

Anyone else notice "Callahan Industrial"? This really is the Need for Speed game for everyone.

For this type of game, yeah, it's way too much. I could go without the recommendations display, and maybe make the time prompt not it's own corner, like sneak it next to something else. It got distracting actually seeing all of that HUD taking the screen.

Not impressed with the speed. Maybe it was the player but the gameplay felt slow and choppy.

Fly a car through Peter Moore's face? Sign me up.

I actually thought there wasn't enough HUD (no tachometer, wtf?). For a game that seems so focused on records and leaderboards... the more it looks like Trackmania the better, I say:P

I like Criterion but I absolutely hate how they shoehorn all this social crap into the NFS games. I want to play a god damn game not deal with some stupid integrated speed wall bullshit.

That was one reason I really didn't like their take on Hot Pursuit because it was littered with that shit, well that and every other race being a Time Trial.

I'd really like to play a fucking racing game and not have some facebook like shit shoved down my throat.

I'd prefer a cleaner HUD, there's far too much social crap going on here. Hopefully that can be hidden or even turned off.

this game looks awesome, in terms of both gameplay and visuals. oh, and it sounds great, too. the only concern i have is the UI which looks.. a bit cluttered.

This game is even more like Burnout Paradise than I was expecting, but that's a very good thing as far as I see it. Doesn't have that "rockin'" soundtrack but it's looking damn nice. I know this player probably got to crash through the Peter Moore billboard because Moore was on their friends list, but I hope we all get Peter Moore billboards too. I do agree that the HUD is too cluttered though, if there's a lesson Paradise should have taught it's that when you're trying to take semi-regular glances at a HUD while speeding down a road constantly about to crash, it doesn't go well.

im sorry i don't really see the open world when i think of open world car driving games i think of test drive unlimited 2 that is truly open world

My problem with this game (and NFS: Hot Pursuit) is how the cars handle. I know it is an arcade racing game but when I see real life cars doing the speeds that they are going at, I just can't suspend my disbelief. Burnout Paradise was amazing because I have no real life basis for how those cars handled, this game, I do. I want to love it so much.

Wow the comparison to Burnout Paradise is pretty direct. This is suddenly the most excting game on the release schedule.

Is the framerate a little hairy or is it just me? Looks great but it doesn't seem that smooth right now.

That''s a super shitty framerate and fuck the "make it look good in screenshots" commands sent from above that make it look like this, chances are it's not even HD, yes I'm bitter :(
 
Midnight Club 3 is recommended for those who want open-world city racing, hopefully you can find it for a fiver tops.
