I can't help but feel a little excited for this, but I'm really, really, REALLY SICK of open world street racers. Midnight Club was like ten years ago, you guys. I was so glad that Hot Pursuit got back out to the open road again. The original Most Wanted got so boring after a while because it was the same four events in the same city, in a line of a dozen other boring, featureless cities from previous games. I just don't want racing games that take place in cities anymore. But maybe I'll make an exception for this.

Love it. Can't wait. T'was the greatest thing to come out of GamesCom. Looks and sounds just right. Gonna be my 'pure fun' arcade game spinning in my PS3 for the next year or so.

While I disliked the heavy handling of Need for Speed compared to Burnout, anything is made more awesome by police chases... the radio, the sirens.

Why was it spelled "Stock Tyres"? Is that some weird european thing i dont know about?

How do you spell it? :s

Tires, like a normal person.

@biscuitsandtim Tyres is a britishism

ok so for starters the whole Britishism is weird... its the English language... you know, originating in England? duh.

The American Standard spellings were dumbed down deliberately to make it easier for the uneducated populace, mostly farmers at the time, to spell. So bringing that whole we spell shit differently thing up in a derogatory manner, notsomuch the brightest point.

Also you are using exactly the same word for both a rubber inflated wheel and what happens when a person is tired of a thing. Infact "Tires, like a normal person" has multiple meanings because you simply can't distinguish between the various uses of the same spelling in two different words without using the context of the situation.

Next time maybe just realising that language and dialect are varied throughout the english language by region and use some common sense. Or hey since its the only thing that can give meaning in your circumstance sometimes anyway, use some context. Then perhaps you wont be a jerk about other spellings or pronunciations of words and by association make the majority of more cultured and less ignorant Americans repeatedly look bad in the eyes of the rest of the world.

I'm firmly in the minimalist-HUD camp, so i do hope there is a way to counteract the information overload. I'm not a fan of being distracted by drift/timing/leaderboard/points/road data. I don't find it interesting, and it doesn't enhance my gameplay experience. If i can't disable it, i'll just play offline - the social component isn't really a draw for me. Guess that's one way to reduce it. I usually play with a tachometer alone, when possible. Maybe a map or just 'miles to the finish' would be useful. Looks fantastic presentation and gameplay-wise apart from that.

Yes, please. Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite racing games, along with Dirt 2. This is my must have game of the fall.

Whoa, someone has the tight white British panties in a bunch. I did not know how sensitive you poor oppressed people were on your spelling of tyres and you could not possibly take a joke. I am married to a woman who was born and raised in part of the commonwealth, I now feel bad about all the jokes I have made at her expense about her spelling. If I only would have known how sensitive she was about her proper British English, I would not have dared.

Lighten up duder.

P.S: Telling me off for making jokes about regional versions of a language while insulting American English is pretty funny. Please show me the proof that American English is different because it was taught to uneducated farmers and not 400 years of a population living on a different continent. I am fairly certain your English has changed over the last 400 years as well.

This really does seem like a mix between Burnout Paradise and Hot pursuit. Two of my favorite racing games this generation. I am excited.

*sigh*

Just for the record, I'm not your parent and have no interest in "telling" you "off" I was pointing out that you were being a Jerk.... which by the way you still are. Altho I suspect its more along the lines of trolling at this point so *shrug* whatever.

If you read what I said without ironically getting your "tight white" as you say "panties" in a twist I was not criticising the American version of english I was criticising the attitude that any form of modern english is superior to another, which is completely subjective. Whilst also pointing out the Irony of your (and others) derogatory attitudes toward other spellings and uses of language.

If that concept is a bit too difficult to grasp then by all means take offence as I simply couldn't care less :)

Oh and I was referring to the Websters advocation of English Language Spelling Reform in an off hand way which was an over simplification of the subject of course as Language is a complex issue and simplification of spelling isn't necessarily a positive or negative entity in itself. I was pointing out the Irony of your attitude of superiority considering the historical factors.

Your interpretation of my text is what has lead to your taking offence whereas I found your smug ignorant attitude and dismissive attitude to be irritating. Figured I might return the favour here :)

Interesting you assume I'm "British" ;)

It should not be my problem that you can't detect the jesting nature of my faux-superiority. Who is petty enough to feel superior because of a version of language they use? Both spellings are correct, I was just having a little fun at the expense of the English language. This is an internet forum, lets not take this so hard. Assuming your British might have been a dumb thing to do, but I have never encountered an Australian with such a fervent love of the Queen's English :P

@PhilipDuck: Americans spell it "tires".

Also this looks like it takes the best parts of NFS Hot Pursuit and couples it with the best parts of Paradise. I just hope the co-op freeburn stuff from Paradise is back. Easily the best part of that game.

Yeah...

Maybe we never got a Burnout Paradise 2 because Burnout Paradise sucked and was easily the least liked Burnout game Criterion ever did?

Screw NFS. Make a new Burnout. A REAL one. One with good track design, and a great driving model, instead of an aimless and empty open world*, muddy visuals**, forced "social" elements, and pointless goodies strewn about to entice morons into wasting yet more of their anything-but-precious time! "What's that? Some asshole on my friends list smashed through this door? WELL THEN I MUST ALSO DO THIS POINTLESS ACTIVITY!" Who thinks like that, besides idiotic achievement whores?

THERE ARE NO GOOD ARCADE RACERS ANYMORE! Games like Ridge Racer Unbounded, Split Second and especially Blur all have such heavy handling and shitty drifting. Split/Second would've been awesome if it controlled correctly. It's like no one remembers that arcade racers are supposed to be RESPONSIVE and TIGHT. Compared to the driving model in Burnout, they're all shit. Pure shit. Yet Criterion seems intent on never making another one. They left that series on the worst note possible. And for what? To pump out the 700th Need for Speed game (with the same subtitle as 200 of them?). Ugh.

You know what would be 1000x better than this, EA? Make a Burnout HD Collection. I'd much rather replay the first five Burnouts (Burnout 1 and 2, Takedown, Revenge and Dominator) than any of this shit.

* - it's great how the cops are talking about these drivers endangering lives, when there's NO ONE IN THE CITY

** - hey Frostbite; guess what? The advanced lighting and crazy particle effects MAKE IT HARD TO SEE THE ROAD!

Looks interesting, though I wish they would expand on the idea they had in Porsche Unleashed instead of just mashing NFS with Burnout.

Man this game is going to be good. I wish it had more personality. If it had some of the personality of the old Most Wanted, it would be perfect

@vinsanityv22: Continue to play those games man, nothing stopping you. Burnout Paradise was more like Burnout than you think. It had an awesome interface that encouraged new things beyond road rage. That's all.
