Always disliked the combat in Civilization because it seems to make no sense.  I wish it is more transparent so we know exactly how much the terrain, unit skills and experience add to the total strength to determine the outcome.

Hexagons! this changes everything

" This looks stunning, but Civilization V, Star Craft II, and Diablo III aren't really a compelling reason to build a new high end gaming rig in a world where there are few must-have PC games that aren't just ports of various qualities to now-primarily-console-focused games. These are all great titles and I'm excited over them . . . I just can't convince myself that I want to spend the money to prepare for them anymore, like I have the last twenty years.  Also, my big complaint about Civilization games are that they quickly become nothing but a spreadsheet game. That is, there is one way to play it and win the quickest and that's all people do (kind of like Star Craft). It's unfortunate, because I have a lot more fun playing games in a sort of "ooh, I'm going to try this other thing this time" with a sense of exploration and pacing. Not "OH SHIT MUST RUN THROUGH MY ULTIMATE CHECKLIST OF HOW TO WINZOR FASTER THAN THE OTHER GUY CAN GO THROUGH THE SAME CHECKLIST!"        "

This series is a prime example of a game that I will say "Oh I'll try that" then 10 hours go by and I am fighting hunger and fatigue to keep playing.

This looks incredible! 2x better than any Civ game I've ever seen or played.

Looks great. Games like this is why I'm proud to call myself a PC gamer. I can't wait to play this.

I literally cannot wait. Just keeps looking better and better.
