I hate CM Punk with a passion. He represents everything about wrestling now a days that i hate. Pandering to the fans about old times, and trying to 'make it real'.

Jim Cornette said it best, you can't 'expose the business' now because its already been exposed so many times. CM Punk cuts good promos and is quite a good wrestler, but his reliance on making everything seem like a shoot is tiresome. I've been there before, i've seen it before, and of course it isn't a 'shoot'. Because wrestling isn't real. WWE should stop relying on marketing 'entertainment' and actually hire good wrestlers. 'shoot interviews' stopped being cool when ECW died, because ECW was the only promotion that would actually let their people say and do whatever they wanted. You want a good shoot promo? go on youtube and look for the video of when Roddy Piper was on TNA to 'promote' his new book, and instead took the time to tear open Vince Russo's asshole, going as far as to blame him for Owen Heart's death. THAT is a shoot interview. Not sitting on the stage cross-legged and saying how 'the industry is dying".

Enter WWE 13, a game that much like the companies wrestling 'product' is stuck trying to emulate the past instead of pressing forward into the future. That being said, the Attitude Era mode does sound mildly interesting.

Punk's a bit of a rubbish face though.

This felt far more like some sort of strange political advert for CM Punk's presidential campaign; inciting a take-over of American government. Shame it isn't. Because calling this game a "revolution" couldn't be a bigger joke.

Not surprising though; WWE's games are steadily going downhill for years now. I personally loved wrestling games for their incredibly in-depth creation and customization. Seems for every step they advance in this department, they take 2-3 steps backwards. While the graphics are abysmal by today's standards, there are far larger problems to address IMO. In WWE'12 you couldn't even use a damn color wheel in character creation; instead they gave you a small pre-defined set of colors to choose from. The list of available moves keeps shrinking. Then there's the fact that in 2012 you can still only have a measly six wrestlers maximum on screen; which like many other aspects of these games, they haven't improved or changed since 2005 or even years prior. This is why I haven't purchased a WWE title since SvR'2006 (which is still a blast).

I like the whole Attitude Era idea, but as many have already pointed out, it's hopeless without improving/changing the engine; which they have blatantly stated is not happening for WWE'13 and probably not for years to come. As long as consumers keep buying every year, why bother raising the bar? It's for all these reasons they put far more money, time and effort into marketing WWE games than the games themselves.

Remember when CM Punk was cool…last August before HHH buried him? Yup…

And does anyone else think this game looks like a PS 2 game?

I love Punk, but I want WWE All Stars 2. THQ San Diego makes a better wrestling/fighting game than Yuke's. Easily. All Stars is super well designed, totally fun and has some of the best animation blending any western fighting game has EVER had (especially compared to something with stilted, canned combos like Mortal Kombat. Ugh). We need another WWE game from them more than we need another entry in THQ's annual sim series...

Worst thing about THQ struggling is that they can't/won't put some money into making wrestling games not shit. All-Stars was a lot of fun, but I'm not holding my breath that anything comes from that.

Punk's a bit of a rubbish face though.

Everyone gets neutered a bit when they go face, which is kind of odd since they had their biggest popularity boom with all the anti-hero super dick faces like SCSA and Rock. Ah well, can't pull their creative staff's head out of their asses for them. Kind of hope the cover will be reversible so I can have Big Johnny on my shelf if I feel like it.

LOL at the ring breaking. surprised it took this long for them to add that. not gonna lie im not a wrestling fan anymore (stopped in 02 when wcw and ecw were officially dead and buried) wrestling in the 90's was my all time favorite. i loved smackdown 2 for the ps1 me and my friend played that game to death and my all time favorite wrestling game is wcw/nwo revenge. the graphics for this game look lame. if a company actually made a really sweet wrestling game id play it even though i dont know any of the current roster.

All I got from that is "the franchise had grown stale" and unfortunately, they've never fixed that. For the TV shows or the games.

They badly need to make a new engine and completely revamp everything. The graphics look flat out embarassing now, the physics are practically non existent and the gameplay has been nearly exactly the same for over a decade, with nothing but minor improvements every year. For every good thing they bring to the series, they seem to take two things out. This series has become an absolute joke.

How is it that at the end of this generation IT STILL LOOKS LIKE A PS2 GAME?!

Take this fucking franchise away from the people making it and take a good 2-3 YEARS making a new pretty and non shitty physics/graphics engine

While were at it, stop trying to make wrestling games like a sports game.

Basically, give the IP to Telltale.

Most wrestling fans, I.E. the people who actually watch the show, want their annual sports title. Just like they want their annual Madden. The idea of a cartoony non-simulation wrestling game couldn't be farther from their interests. Similar to how hardcore gamers won't have any interest in WWE '13.

I'd much rather have John Laurinitus as the cover athlete for WWE 13.

"This game is going to be bigger than Pacman!"

Wow, what a load of crap; now I remember why I don't watch WWE anymore.

I thought that segment was a bit of silly fun. Oh well.

Thank the Maker that CM Punk was there, because everything relating to the game looked awful. I mean, genuinely awful! Somebody please tell me that they've still got a tonne of development time left, because it has been a long time since I've seen something that looked that graphically horrible!

Yep, looks about the same. Any hope for All Stars 2 is gone, I assume.
