anyone else think this is where they stop playing legend of zelda?

Edited by ShadyMarino

Yes.

EDIT:And where's my red tunic?

Posted by walterbennet

Wow that was some truly incomprehensible shit.

Edited by Cyrisaurus

Oh god I would think Nintendo could do a little more with the Wii by now. God of War II looked better than that.

Posted by raiz265

wait... what?

Posted by milkman4591

@ShadyMarino: Thats what I mean though. The vast majority of us have done this all before. Are we really expected to play through a game with no continuity that is basically the same as a Nintendo 64 game, with the addition of motion controls and marginally better graphics? Maybe I've just been spoiled with certain franchises growing up, but the new tomb raider is headed in the right direction. Zelda is over in my book until something genuinely interesting is done with it.

Posted by jasonefmonk

What the fuck. That was incoherent and made the game look it's worst yet.

Posted by jasonefmonk

@milkman4591: You're right on the money. I just played through OOT again on my Wii, and I have no interest in fighting the same enemies, traversing the same lands, or wearing the same tunics. Time for them to refresh this dying franchise.

Posted by krabboss

Nice to see people assuming the game will be a certain way without playing it first.

I disagree.

...what a shitty trailer

Posted by tweetspot

so you play as the green goblin in this game? is that right? also, the wii is really showing how terrible it is.

Posted by kcp12

I finished Wind Waker not too long ago. That game looks much better than...this.

Posted by Vegetable_Side_Dish

Twilight Princess had far more character than this game, in looks at least. That dungeon just looked flat and muddy.

I stopped playing Zelda with Twilight Princess.

I think I'll start playing Zelda again with this.

Posted by milkman4591

@RockmanBionics: Thats interesting, what about this appeals to you?

Posted by davonaytor

Soooo excited for this game !!

Posted by ptys

Zelda's ok, but don't understand the crazy fanfare. It's just a elf dude with a sword?

Edited by Boboblaw

That was a pretty fucking bad trailer. Go watch the new one that was just put on gametrailers it was fucking great.

edit: it was called the origins trailer

Posted by upwarDBound

Why oh why does the Wii have such poor resolution? This game could shine on a stronger platform.

What the hell are you talking about?

@milkman4591: The trailer? Not much, it was crappy. A lot of these have been, just short snippets of gameplay.

The game itself? Colourful world filled with colourful characters, the latter both in a litterary sense as well as personality wise. Really, the Zelda NPC's are some of the most memorable around. Some 'modern' mechanics for crafting better shields was revealed in a trailer a while back, that seemed interesting, and needed. The tone is brighter that TP making it more on par with Wind Waker which, after a recent comparison I made, I concluded had better presentation overall. Music is really nice. Like, really, really nice.

I like exploration and puzzle solving, Zelda usually has that so this probably has that. The story interests me a bit, partly because how it will supposedly tie into the loosely established timeline of the Zeldaverse. That blue sword-fairy-girl just called Link 'master', that's a nice change of pace from all the Tsundere guide characters we've had lately.

As for the moment to moment gameplay, not really the main draw for me, not yet anyway since I don't know a whole lot about it. From what I heard impressions on sword combat have been between positive and cautiously optimistic. I've always had little confidence in the idea of steering your sword with the Wiimote, so hearing that was slightly encouraging.

And that's all I really know so far. Concepts that get me interested, from pedigree that gets me excited.

That's not to say I don't sometimes doubt whether it will be good or not, I just ended up being optimistic.

I feel the need to defend this but I can't... What a mind fuck of a bad trailer.

I've played every zelda game so far... and loved them all mostly (I thought twilight princess was actually very very very good, I liked it way more then windwaker).

But something about this one just isn't clicking yet... I will know better when i play it.

I just saw it actually. This is where I make an awesome "Link" pun as I link the trailer.

It shows stuff in it, consider this your spoiler warning.

That was my impression as well, until I watched that GT trailer that was linked above.

That was easily one of the worst trailers I have seen for a game in awhile. Seriously, the saints row bulltshit game show thing was better put together then this.

I couldn't help but think of Battlefield when link popped open his parachute at the start.

Posted by avidwriter

So this one takes place where? Before or after Wind Waker? Cause all of them are supposed to be in the same long twisted convoluted time-line right?

Posted by Splitterguy

I liked the part where he ran into a fence, ran away from it, and then back towards it again. Or the part where he slowly cut a plant. That was pretty good too.

Most likely everything that doesn't appeal to you. You sound like someone who's not going to be playing the best Zelda ever, and quite possibly one of the greatest games of all time if it's reviews continue as they are.

that was so awesome!

@krabboss: As usual, the GiantBomb community can't wait to hate on something. What's hilarious is Edge gave this a 10/10, called it the best Zelda ever, yet Giantbomb hate it. Can't wait to see them embarrassed.

The same reason 360 and PS3 has shitty resolution. Really shitty outdated hardware.

I used to adore Zelda games - Zelda 3, Link's Awakening and Ocarina are amongst my favourite games of all time. So it makes me horribly sad that I'm going to have to wait years for a whole new platform before I can actually be excited about a Zelda game again. It's a cliche now, but seriously Nintendo ... graphics and controller. Sigh.

This is the least excited I've ever been for a main console Zelda game.

Interns working in Nintendo's edit bay, I see.

Posted by nick_verissimo

I think at this point I'm more excited about the idea of a brand new Zelda game, than actually playing it. I thoroughly enjoyed Twilight Princess, but I just don't know if I can get into this one. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

Posted by Alex_Carrillo

The most devastating part of all this is remembering that you're going to have to play this game in 480p.

Posted by Dagbiker

WAIT, You mean there is a fire temple

Posted by GravitasPrimus

@krabboss: I agree with you man, that's how it is this days.people judge a game based on a trailer?,nah for real?

how the hell can you judge a game by watching a 1:39 video?.

play the game,if you don't like it,fine. trailers don't define a game,playing it does.

Posted by GioVANNI

@itsjoncharles: Do you really think it's unreasonable to be unenthusiastic about this game? Really?

Well, that was an odd trailer. I'm so looking forward to a Zelda adventure. They're all magical in my book.

Boring...

Posted by Bojangle

@Contro: Calm down, it's not even had a handful of reviews yet, it's far too early to be throwing statements like "greatest games of all time" around with so few reviews around AND before you've even played it yourself. It does look lovely but I'm rather suspicious of that EDGE 10, and not because I want the game to be bad, I'd love nothing more than a brand new Zelda which actually takes the series in an interesting new direction rather than the stale path it's slowly been heading down. There were several points in the review that made me cringe, it was so obviously written by someone who's a big fan of Nintendo as the majority of the article just read like one big circle jerk to them. The Wii has finally found the hero inside itself? I'm sorry, what?!

On the other hand, the Post Script after the review was a fantastic piece of writing and got me very excited for getting stuck into this on the 18th. I just hope I'm not going to be burnt again like I was with Twilight Princess.

Looking at games in 480p now a days is rough for me even if the art direction is good.

Looking forward to it.
