I like me some Dead Space

Posted by SammydesinasNL

What an awesome trailer.
Posted by Talon64

damn I can't wait for this.

Posted by Daftasabat

Song for the trailer was a bit naff. Loved the 1st 1, played the demo of the 2nd 1, bring it on!

Posted by inkwolf

Oh geeze, Pumpkins?  It's my absolute favorite band ever, but how strange to see it with Dead Space.
Posted by Moth_Pope

Can't wait for DS2. I'm one achievement away from getting the S rank for the original Dead Space (just got to complete it on Impossible difficulty) and then I'm good to go for the sequel.

Interesting choice, using Smashing Pumpkins for the trailer music. Cool song, but I preferred the eerie-nursery-rhyme-style of the Dead Space trailer back in 2008 as it kept with the atmospheric horror theme as opposed to a COD style shooter, but after playing the DS2 demo I'm not worried it'll keep the same slow creepyness of the original.

I STILL BELIEVE THAT I CANNOT BE SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ready to cut up some dudes with the ol' plasma cutter.

Despite not being a huge fan of the first one I like what I see here. There's nothing worse than being a silent protagonist when you're surrounded by assholes so I'm glad they gave the guy a voice.

Trailer ruined by the music. Typical EA.

Agreed. Althu' the trailer with Sigur Ros' "Death" song back in '08 was, in my opinion, the best trailer ever made. I'm not saying this is a bad trailer, it's just that I expected it to be, well, creepier.

Can't wait. I want this game.

Posted by Sharpshooter

Smashing Pumpkins? Eh, ok I thats a weird choice for trailer music but it fits I guess.

Posted by Plasma

I liked the music...

I don't like him talking; I like the whole HL2 silent protagonist, project yourself onto the character thing.

Sweet trailer.

Whale Wars has ruined that song for me.

Such a cool ass Trailer!

@Plasma: To me, a silent protagonist usually just  comes off as lazy writing.
Posted by JoelTGM

Woah, the first one was all the way back in 2008?  That's a long time ago.  I'm glad they didn't rush this game.  Awesome trailer!

Posted by Griddler

The song doesn't fit in with the rest of their marketing campaign but that was still an epic trailer.

Posted by MrXD

f**k yeah!

Posted by LiquidSwords

First buy of 2011! Can't wait!

Posted by MadExponent

I'm glad the story delves more into the psychological element of the Marker.  I read Dead Space: Martyr and I want interaction with npcs that may or may not be there.  Not through holo screens like in DS1.  Overall the game will be great.
Posted by mewstu

looks cool?
 OK I'm excited!

BTW nice song choice

Posted by RYNO9881

I get the sinking feeling this is going to be the same case as Bioshock 2. Hope I'm wrong.

WTF is up with people selling stuff on the comments section? Reminds me of a-holes who sold gold on WoW.

Dislike the music choice for the trailer. Otherwise, game looks pretty dope.

Edited by vinsanityv22

Meh. EA will NEVER produce a better horror game than Overblood :) NEVER FORGET PIPO!**

Fuck yeah smashing pumpkins! but yeah, kinda doesn't fit to well.

I'm back on board with Dead Space 2.

Never expected Smashing Pumpkins to be in a multimillion dollar game launch trailer. Man, licensed music and games is weird.

Posted by TomA

YESSS!!!!!!! Awesome song for this trailer. It's totally retarded but its awesome!

Posted by RTSlord

shit is still going down

Posted by Mosshammer

This is going to be a classic case of overbearing production companies redirecting a popular series based on market research.  Much like the bastardization of Pyramid head, Issac is taken out of context and the subtlety and atmosphere that made dead space one an "unexpected hit" is traded for  widespread appeal maximizing game mechanics.  The demo definitely foreshadowed some series Bioshock 2 syndrome.

Ask yourself, Why is Issac in an engineering rig with mining tools when he is no longer on the Ishimura?

Edited by captain_clayman

now that was an awesome trailer

good song.

EDIT: idk what you guys are talking about, i think the song fits for like a commercial.  maybe its just because i havent heard this song before and i like it.

Posted by NathHaw

I really love that song, but it didn't need to be here.  Anyway, the game will prob be cool; i like how they are trying to make Isaac more human in this one.

Posted by AuthenticM

I really don't like his voice. His face doesn't fit with it.

Posted by Hailinel

That's a ridiculous choice of music.  What the hell?

On the other hand, the fact that Isaac actually takes his mask off at points and has dialogue that goes beyond "AUUUUUGHGLGAUGL!!!" is the most welcome thing about Dead Space 2 I've yet seen.

@captain_clayman: Yeah, the song is good for what they were going for. It is a commercial spot made to hype up viewers. All of the complaining is just people on the internet. But if you haven't heard Smashing Pumpkins before, you need to check out their stuff from the 90s.

Feel free to ignore the newer stuff. That's not really the Pumpkins anymore, just a sad shell of a once great band.
Posted by mrhankey

Looks good. Won't get it right away. Just got Dead Space and am still playing through it.

Edited by kerse

When I heard about it on the podcast that he has a face and voice now I thought it would be weird, but the ones they chose are really fucking good, I just hope he still does that weird grunt whenever he swings or stomps. I'm excited.

Yeah I thought the same thing.
Posted by audiosnag

Awesome trailer. Awesome song.
A little bit different tone to what I was expecting, less creepy.
Still super stoked for this game though. Between this trailer and Bad Company 2 using a Queens of the Stone Age song, somebody at EA has good taste in music.

Posted by 234r2we232

Amazing song ruined by a trailer. Typical EA.

Posted by Zurgfrog

This kinda cements the idea that there really are no true  horror games anymore just action games with some jump scares

I love it when he stomps the ground and mutters "MOTHER FUCKER!"
