That trailer made me sad. I loved PSO on my Dreamcast unconditionally, but that trailer did nothing for me outside of the few bits of music that sparked a flutter of memory from the old game.

Sega wont gives this to americans they dont know what we want. we will get a crap marvel game or something nothing that has to do with sega and brings them closer to near death.

Just like we cant get arcade perfect virtua fighter 1 2 and 3 on xbox live arcade but they will give us another version of virtua fighter 5 that is like what capcom did when they made street fighter 2 turbo and fucking daytona that has like almost no replay value compared to virtua fighter 1 2 or 3.

This would be great! I still remember just being floored at playing an online RPG on my dreamcast! Plus the game was kind of fun and different from the other rpgs out at the time on PC.

That's the one thing I don't understand about Japanese. I know there are words that sound the same in Japanese and English, but he definitely said Online RPG and Character Creator.

I think it's really weird this hasn't been announced already for PS3 or even Wii U. I mean, I'm not surprised that nintendo would be so dumb as to not pursue a Wii U port of this. But I AM surprised that a) no one would've shown off how an MMO might work on the Wii U - put your hotbars and virtual keyboard on the touchscreen, done. And b) that Sega WOULDN'T put this on a Nintendo console. I mean, Phantasy Star Online 1, 2 and 3 were all Gamecube games. GAMECUBE. And they had a decent community - I should know, because I actually PLAYED PSO Episodes 1 & 2 on my Gamecube. That's right, I actually have the rare Gamecube broadband adapter. I don't know why Sega/Sonic Team wanted to put one of the best online games ever on one of the worst online-enabled systems in history, but that's how they roll. Figured they'd keep up the streak with putting Phantasy Star Online 2 on Wii U here.

Of course, they could always just be focusing on the core SKU of the game first, and will announce console ports and international versions later. IF they do announce it for Wii U though, I'll say this - I will buy a stupid Wii U. In heartbeat. Just to play PSO 2.

Reasonable amount of time? What's reasonable? 6 months? Probably pretty slim. I think (or rather...I hope) we'll see it by mid-2013 at the latest though I would imagine if we don't hear anything by then, it's safe to say we probably won't be getting it all.

Sega seems determined to make the weirdest decisions possible these days so I'd honestly be shocked if we did see it.

Adjustable nipples should be in every game. I know in my save of Fallout: New Vegas, my grey-haired gentleman's nips are a bit too far apart.

Yeah Baby. For me PSO was all about the music ...PSO2 Sound Director is Hideaki Kobayashi, the same guy who composed some PSO/PSU musics. Personally, I could crush a grape!

I'm in if I can accidentally pick up a guy's awesome weapon & money when he dies, then have him get mad when I take too long to drop them, and finally jump offline to spite him. PSO was the best.

It's funny because it's true. Also sad.

Every time I take a serious look at a new Phantasy Star game, I always end up completely clueless as to what I would really want out of a good follow-up to PSO. As long as the only way to adjust the camera is a button that snaps it behind me, everything will probably work out just fine.

Ok to answer a few questions: There is a fan made english patch being made, the game will be coming out in a few weeks in Japan and no announcements have been made but seeing as how there are a good few thousand English players from the US and EU on their servers there will be an english version by the very latest at the end of the year. Sega isn't Nintendo or Capcom they bring absolutely everything that will make them even a modicum of money stateside (All but what...one of the Yakuza games have come stateside? )

As for the gameplay yes there are detailed options for controlling the camera, I think you can even use an xbox or ps3 controller with the game too but I haven't tried that yet.

I've only sunk about 6 or 7 hours into the game but so far I like it as much as Diablo 3 in terms of grinding, combat, and getting items. Possibly more when I'm looking at menu's in english and not the Japanese I can barely read.

There are detailed instructions in english for signing up for and playing the game in open beta on the internet. Give it a shot.
