Decapre Is Ultra Street Fighter IV's Fifth New Character

I understand the idea of the update as far as tournament players go, but for the rest of us who just want the full version of a game we enjoyed, it just seems like rubbing salt in the wound to me whenever a company does this.

It is not only Capcom that makes me feel this way either; Blazblue lost a lot of luster to me when that series got the same treatment.

It just feels like a smack in the face I guess. Maybe if they offered a kind of payment plan for it, in which the die hard players can pay more but get all the updates down the line while the rest of us can grab it for forty bucks and just deal with multiple releases later on?

Not a perfect solution I know, but it's better than dropping the cash and hoping that you got the final version.

Having never touched Tekken V Street Fighter, I'm very happy with this latest batch of characters. Elena and Hugo were two of my favorite characters from Third Strike, and Rolento looks pretty sweet as well!

Those weren't limitations, they were clues. The only limitations they had were a budget of about $3 and like 4 people working on it. So, although disappointing, the choices of characters that were added aren't especially surprising.

I wonder why they didn't call it Final Street Fighter IV... maybe there's more!

The update is $15. I would say this update is not for you, but since you seem to want "the complete version", I would guess you are a fan of Street Fighter. Thus, you would understand the value of balance and 5 additional (I won't say new) characters. Maybe I'm being a troll. I just don't understand people who don't actually care about SF complaining about updates that aren't for them. It is for tourney players. Just as Capcom's Pro Series is taking place to show their commitment to the tournament scene. It's not League of Legends support, but it's something, and I, for one, appreciate it.

I know it is not exactly breaking new ground to say this but...

How many times are they going to release this game? I already paid sixty for it once, the first time it came out, and it still stings a little to see it being brought up.

Sure, tourney players will love it, but what about the rest of us who just want "the complete version" of the damn game?

Capcom had said for quite a while that the new character was:

• Female (So it had no chance of being Sean).
• A character from Street Fighter fiction that had yet to be playable (Which made all of the Dolls, aside from Cammy, Juli, and Juni, distinct possibilities).

So anyone getting up in arms about this is being silly.

The character choices for Ultra were obviously budget driven. Four characters with some reused animation work and, obviously, character design work (both artistically and gameplay wise) from a separate title (SFxT) and a "new" character (Decapre has been around since the Alpha games. She's not "new") that reuses a good 60-80% of the animations that are currently in the game (Decapre has a lot of Cammy's normals and specials with different effects, inputs, and uses). Between this and (albeit incredibly exciting and clever) reusing of old work to create new modes (see: Edition Select Mode) and stages (again, a product of SFxT recycling), it's obvious that Ultra has a much smaller budget than even Arcade Edition.

I wish Capcom had more faith in Ultra to actually provide a budget that would have allowed the development of a few new characters from scratch. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to play as Elena, Poison, Hugo, and Rolento, but are they the best four characters to bring back? Decapre does look interesting and is, out of the entire roster of possible Street Fighter characters, obviously the easiest to implement (Cammy is, after all, a clone of Decapre and Bison), but who would have sold more copies of the games? Decapre? The SFxT characters? Or Alex, R.Mika, Karin, Q, Haggar, Sarai, and/or other Alpha, 3rd Strike, Street Fighter comic book, and Final Fight characters not represented? Or maybe even brand new characters?

I don't think the development team on Ultra took this path of least resistance because they wanted to. Having talked to Combofiend personally about the game, I can tell that the developers on Ultra are super passionate about bringing the best version of the game they possibly can. I have to think that, if given the opportunity, they would have gone all out with this version of the game, especially with the roster additions.

Creative side of Capcom? You did the best with what you had.

Business side of Capcom? I am disappoint.

As some who named their cat after one of The Dolls I'm disappointed that it's not Juni.

They probably didn't build up to it because it wasn't done at the time, but they should have done Decapre/Hugo/Poison/Elena and then hype up for Rolento. Rolento is BY FAR the character capcom asks for the most.

Anyways in terms of playstyle she'll be unique, a rush-down charge character with what looks to be straight up 50/50 crossups, but ultimately she is a Cammy Clone. They could at least change her idle animation or throw animation or something.

i was really hoping for asura. but another palette swap character? That's disappointing. At least its a clone of a character i like. i'll probably still get it though, i like most if not all of the new characters.

Cammy is a female clone of Bison, who likes to have lots of bodies laying around in-case he needs to transfer his soul into a new one (he likes doing that a lot), and Decapre is a prototype of Cammy. Both were inducted into the Doll program along with the captured girls from various countries.

You also might notice the purple aura Decapre has during a lot of her moves, that's Bison's signature aura, Psycho Power, so she must be pretty good if she can use it.

She doesn't actually play anything like Cammy. She's only a clone as far as her looks go. And cannonically, I guess.

She seems okay but I form my opinion of a character off two things:

1. How I enjoying playing as her.

2. How she plays against my preferred character (grapplers).

Someone that mains charge character like Vega may fall in love with her but people that play character like Dhalsim would probably end up despising her.

For all the speculation.... its just a Cammy Reskin. Sure the moves are going to be different but really? They couldn't make an original model here?

Yeah, you can upgrade it to $15 even if you only have vanilla SF4 too or its $40 as a standalone. A lot of people are really hating on this because a lot of it is recycled, but really though those same people bitching already have the game and they don't even have to pay full price, which is fucking nuts.

So they took animations from Cammy and Raven (sfxt edition). I mean she has the same exact target combo from raven let alone the same idle and attack animations as Cammy. CAPCOM!

It's $15, and as a hardcore fighting game player, I feel a lot better about $15 than paying $60 to play Call of Duty multiplayer every year. There have been 5 CoDs since 2009? I believe Capcom will have charged $15 for 3 SFIV updates? Updates that keep the game competitive and balanced. Hell, I'd probably pay a stupid amount of money for a balanced Marvel vs Capcom 3.

This looks cool. I hope this gets ported to PS4. I think there was some suggestion recently that it could happen.

Man the character seems cool, but changing her hair style and color more from Cammy's would have gone a longgggg way. Having the perception that she is just Dark Cammy hurts the game more than anything. Especially after all the build up. But hey Elena is rad and is in the game.

The build up for a Cammy palette swap probably wasn't the best idea. She'll play differently enough since she is a charge character and the teleport stuff looks like it has a lot of potential but I think people were expecting something more original. The posture, a lot of the normals and some of her normals look very similar to Cammy's. It makes sense since she is a doll but they should have just showed her off from the beginning.

I'll probably never play her since I generally don't like charge characters but her Ultra looks really cool.

If they're charging money, then, yeah, they technically do owe us something. For me, it's more that this whole update seems very cheap. Whether it's the reality or not, I think it's the general perception. All the new stages are from SFxT, as are four of the new characters, and the fifth, at first blush, appears to be a Cammy clone.
