Yay ,video review!

Posted by addictedtopinescent

Yayy Daft Punk, I just unlocked them yesterday

Posted by Shibbles

This game would be a lot more appealing to me if it were a Daft Punk sim.

Posted by Ramyun

Nice! Loved the black and white frustration bits

Posted by FLStyle

Thank you for detailing how you play the game physically because I have no idea how the concept of DJing works. In fact it was the most helpful thing I've seen about this game to date.

Posted by brocool

must resist..

Yeah, show that turntable whose boss, Jeff!

This is exactly what I was thinking! I kept looking at the turntable and wondering how the hell it worked.

Still want this. Can't afford it right now, but soonish.

Great review!

nice

I picked up this game like 10 hours ago when I was shopping for games..
I had a hard time putting the turntable away and stop playing it..

I'm really digging it more than I thought I would

Posted by ashton

hahaha middle finger to the controller! XD

Posted by Chewii101

lol loved Ryan's hand modelling.

Posted by Dany

Was that Tim Shafer doing the hand modeling?

Posted by JoelTGM

nice

Me and my room mate are throwing down some mad beats right now!

Posted by eroticfishcake

Heh, great review.

Harder, Better, Faster, Duder

Posted by Darkstar614

That middle finger was pretty epic. It seems a bit heavy if it can spin around that many times.

Posted by Ladnar

Awesome, Need more Air Horn!
Posted by FlipperDesert

I love that Jeff went with the air horn sound.

I think I finally know how that game is played, the whole thing just looked baffling to me before.

Posted by MetalGearSunny

Nice review, but the style of music is not for me.

Haha awesome!

Too bad I can't afford anymore plastic instruments at the moment.
Posted by kwyee

Great review! Hilarious as usual :)

Too bad the game looks too complicated for my poorly coordinated self.

Posted by troyx

agree 100% with everything jeff said .

Posted by TripMasterMunky

Might pick it up next year when it's super cheap due to DJ Hero 3: World Tour.

I shall buy this.

DJ Yoda has a couple of albums called 'How To Cut and Paste' and one that is even 80's themed! They don't teach you how to cut and paste but there is scratching and mixing aplenty!

Posted by MonkeyPulp

Hmm. I had trouble with the controls for the first few songs I played. But after a few songs I just went to hard and started getting it pretty fast. The game is not that hard until you start playing on expert IMO. Those precise scratches are difficult when in huge rows.

lol Ryan giving the turntable the finger.

Edited by Kojdog

Ryan's hands (right?) dropping the physical f-bomb on that controller in black & white is part of why this is THE site for review, editorial, and entertainment.  Thanks guys and keep it up.

However, I have to say that your review does seem a little disjointed between 'yeah, the mechanic is great but the game is flat' and 'the controller is leaning mediocre (a crucial element for this kind of game) but you'll master it with time'.

Love you guys but it seems that these are basically the same criticisms you could level against the type of games you guys generally hate (like MilSims and other junk).  Controls and concept are slightly flawed but with time you could master it and have fun, if you have the patience.  Ryan's Brutal Legend review was very balanced in this respect but I've seen more than a few games that seemed to not miss, but dodge, the mark in some instances.  You guys are awesome but I just wanted to point this out.

Again, great site and great vids.

Ah Jeff don't hide the Titannica t-shirt.

Posted by FCKSNAP

You know... it's a little too rough for me right now. I'll wait for one of the inevitable sequels or if it drops price like a ton of bricks.

It's just that there a bunch of little things that add up to me not liking it, like the remix system and that weird cartoony scratch sound, and most of the selection sounds too generic. I wasn't expecting some crazy awesome DJ mixes that have a bunch of samples from everything like they used to have in the 80s, but atleast they could have tried not to make the songs sound too much like the original tracks, like some sort of VS mashup.

Posted by Meltbrain

It does look pretty sweet, and this is a great review... but I still feel pretty sore about the whole plastic peripheral rhythm game thing.

Posted by SlantedRoom

good review man.

and dude fuckin murs is in this game??!?!?!? that bumps it to must buy status for me.

Posted by Romination

yo, mad fresh black and white on the peripheral!

Having Ryan show it off made me think of an infomercial.

Posted by Phished0ne
@Snapstacle:  the point of the game is that it is mashups, it' s been billed that way the whole time...so why would they not  "sound like mashups"  lrn2commonsense
Posted by ahoodedfigure

Better take a modern first aid course, that put something in the mouth of an epilepsy sufferer meme keeps spreading.

Thing that gets me about this game is that improvisation is treated like something you have to copy.  Feels completely backwards to me.

Posted by Terjay

Everyone should check out the movie Scratch. It's a great documentary about turntablism and it's cheap as hell.

Posted by Capum15

Eric Prydz with Pjanoo? Awesome.
Good review.

Posted by bshirk

Nice review Jeff.

I'm tempted to get it, but I wish you could slow songs down like DJ Screw, and I wish they used some underground rappers, because most mainstream rappers are terrible lyrically.

Posted by Azteck

This just doesn't look like a lot of fun to me. It's too chaotic and the style of music doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure it's a lot of fun if you do enjoy this type of music though.

Posted by Steve_C

Ryan is a great hand model.

Posted by Crash_Happy
@ShaggyPolarBear: lmao
Posted by Afroman269

I really want to get this but $120........damn that's too much. Also knowing Activision they will be churning this game out yearly with newer models of the spin table and then making you buy them. I've been down this road before, might as well stop here.

Posted by bigall94

Ending was fantastic. I knew a DJ game played by Jeff would be exploited to have as much airhorn as possible.  This game looks really crazy, and I wish I could get my hands on it.
Posted by Spongetwan

I might have to rent this...I hope I can play without the turntables unlike RB2 :(

Posted by monster9999

lol yah black and white jeff hands

Posted by captain_clayman

yeah...i don't have any money.
