@xeirus: I didn't play a whole lot of it but I didn't like the way it looked and it just seemed really generic overall.

I'm not saying it's bad, I just couldn't get into it.

Need, need, need a PS4. Really hope this can marry the first game's fantastic story telling, with some open-world graphical lovelyness.

Don't care how it looks, EA and Bioware have no good will left with me. I'll wait for reviews, and probably even a rather large sale before I'll bother with this.

And I fucking love these kinds of games. Still, no dice.

Once bitten, twice shy.

I'll keep an eye on it because of how great DA:O was, but man... it's like following one of the best first dates ever with finding out she has a penis. Or something. Metaphors are hard.

hmmm maybe I'm missing something, but this looks.... kinda crappy? The textures, especially those on the dwarven section looked bad, the water animations where clunky and the deer character model was also pretty bad. Compare this to something like the Witcher 2 or even Mass effect 3 (which it kinda is but fantasy instead of sci-fi) and I just don't think it holds up graphically. I skipped DA 2 because of the the terrible gameplay but I sunk a ton of hours into DAO. Really hope they can make this one stand out.

@believer258: I felt the same way when I played through DA:O. it just felt kinda fake and closed in. Didnt grab me at all....and same with the second game, to a worse degree. I just hope this game is fun and you can actually free roam like in most quality RPGs

I can already tell it'll be terrible. I'll back my words up by not purchasing on release and wait for a general opinion that might sway me. New Bioware drops the ball consistently now

Eh, DAO is a quality RPG, I just didn't like the combat too much. It felt like I was too often fighting against my teammate's AI instead of fighting against the enemy. Granted, it became a lot more fun when I downloaded a mod that let me re-class myself and redistribute everything to make a mage, but then I had to get a mod that turned off friendly fire, and then it became far too easy, and then I stopped in the Deep Roads.

Apparently I was doing something wrong - most people didn't seem to have this problem.

Dragon Age 2 is the Baywatch Nights of video games.

Hopefully Dragon Age 3 will be the more like Baywatch Hawaii.

Looks a lot like Skyrim. But the environments look a lot more unique than Skyrim. Skirim's world was pretty bland. Also the music is such a rip off of Lord of the Rings.

They said they wanted to take idea from Origins, but place it in a seamless Skyrim-like game world, as opposed to the World Map point-to-point area travel they had before. We'll see.

@alkusanagi: Glad I finally got to your comment after scrolling down farther and farther to make sure I wasn't the only person that thought DA2 wasn't the worst game ever. Not great by any means but I have certainly played worse RPGs.

I beat Dragon Age Origins a few days ago and I can see why people thought it was amazing when it originally came out. Hopefully the combat system has been updated. Being unable to issue individual commands to units without taking direct control was a real pain.

I'll get this. Sure, DA2 was disappointing, when you compared it with the first game. But it had some genuinely good characters (I'm not talking about Hawke) and it was reasonably fun. As long as they build a bigger world than DA2's then it should be okay.

I hope it's pretty open. Dragon Age Origins had a lot of invisible walls (no, you cannot step in that lake) and isn't really all that "open". That demo they had at E3 looked pretty open, though, so I'm not terribly concerned about this.

I do hope they step up their writing. Mass Effect 1 and 2 and DAO weren't master class stuff, but most of it was entertaining and/or informative. I've only played the demo of Dragon Age 2 and some parts of that were annoying, and Mass Effect 3 had some writing that just wasn't all that great all either.

I'll probably get this despite not finishing Dragon Age Origins, if only because it looks like it will scratch my open-world quest-driven single player RPG itch.

For all the flaws of DA2 (and my God, they were plentiful), the writing was actually pretty strong as far as I can remember. There was a lot of interesting stuff, and the "funny" Hawke dialogue options were pretty good. I felt the Mass Effect 3 stuff was weaker than the first two games, but hopefully this turns out good. It's certainly looking that way.

A heads up for people that weren't sure: The game is not open-world like Skyrim. It's made up of areas like Dragon Age: Origins, but each area is vast and expansive.

Lookin' pretty sharp! Most likely a day-1 buy for me as well. I have faith that they've learnt their lesson from all of the feedback after DAII, and frankly the more I've learnt about Inquisition the better it sounds.

It could be as good as Dragon Age II and I would probably still want to play it so long as the gameplay hasn't been drastically changed. I m kinda iffy on that one though given all the talk of being like Skyrim and The Witcher.

I was using "open world" as short hand for what you've bolded. I know that it's supposed to have a bunch of huge open areas and not just one big world.

The more I think about it, though, the more excited I'm getting, even though I wasn't a huge fan of DAO. I'll go back and finish DAO one day.

Ha, strange of you to remove the inverted commas :P

And i think the flashy animations that are bringing about the Witcher/Skyrim comparisons are purely cosmetic. I don't doubt it's still running all the numbers beneath the surface and, hopefully, still has all of the same tactical elements Dragon Age is known for.

Frankly the fact that I could play as a Female Qunari Mage alone has me sold! Just look at dat niche! That's like if they let you choose to play as a Transgender Volus Warlord in Mass Effect. Though I wouldn't be surprised if that's actually a ME3 multiplayer class :P

Well it has been awhile since the last DLC pack, I'd imagine...

Actually, now that I've rekindled my memory with that pre-alpha gameplay video, it reminds me that they haven't seemed to have changed things drastically. Really does remind me of Origins. Actually, I hope they take a cue from Origins with the way plot slightly changes based on who you are, because being a female Qunari mage would have you blacklisted from all the good parties (and also hunted down to be murdered on a level much greater than any other character race/class combo).

(PS: also, I clicked the "moderate" button on my first comment out of curiosity to what it did/why I had access to it, and it deleted it. Haven't been around enough lately to know if that's a bug or a feature)

Dragon Age 2 wasn't bad, it was just lazy.

So very true. If you get into topics around the internet about Dragon Age and/or Bioware, Dragon Age 2 is mercilessly reviled. Yeah, it was lazy likely due to its short development cycle. But the plot was still interesting, the characters were good, and the combat while not as deep as DA1 was still fun in its own way.

I'm personally excited about a blending of styles from the first two games coming together for Dragon Age 3.

Wow, the environments are very, very pretty. I'm not going to let myself get hyped for this though. I'm still not convinced they can make a combat engine that is satisfying as a tactical RPG and as a character action game. Dragon Age 2 was frustrating to play either way for me.

There are plenty of 100% tactical RPGs coming out these days that I can wait to watch the Quick Look and WTF is to see if this is actually what I want.
