Haven't really been paying all that much attention to PR materials for the game, but when I first read about it on norwegian sites it was as an episodic game.

I kinda think that's why they called it chapters.

Actually it wasn't, despite being called 'chapters' it was originally supposed to be one single game.

I remember playing Dreamfall: The Longest Journey on PC when it first came out in 2006 and was genuinely surprised at how engaging the story was. The graphics, art and overall aesthetic were great for their day too. I totally forgot about the franchise/that game until seeing this trailer. Will have to keep an eye on this one...

I remember playing through Dreamfall on the original Xbox and just marathoning it one day when I was deathly ill. I don't know if that contributed to my love of the game or not, but it was truly one of my favorite games from that time. I've been looking forward to this project for a while, it's looking great.

@arjann: It was originally an episodic game. They changed it to a full game for the Kickstarter, then changed it back to episodic not too long ago.

Actually it was. The name Dreamfall Chapters was announced way back in 2007 as a follow up to Dreamfall, and was supposed to be an episodic game. Nothing really happened though, not until Red Thread Games and the Kickstarter campaign, where it as you say was supposed to be a single game but they kept the Chapters name feeling it fit well anyway.

And now we're back to episodes again.

Love this franchise, so glad it's coming out, episodic or not. Especially since I way over-pledged in the Kickstarter, high hopes!

Godammit I hope this is good.

Oh cool. Liked the one on original Xbox.

I wasn't ill and it was still my favorite game ever, and probably still is. It's nowhere near the best game I've played or the game I've gotten the most enjoyment from in total, but I connected with it and became engaged in a way no other game has been able to top.

Hmm... I never finished Dreamfall because it crashed at some point and I couldn't get it to work after that. This might be a good time to go back to it. Really loved the original Longest Journey, as well.

So hyped.

Same. The stealth and fighting sequences were terrible, but the story, setting and characters were so good I can easily overlook those problems.

I really liked TLJ, but only fell in love with the series with Dreamfall.

Man I love, love, LOVE The Longest Journey and really enjoyed Dreamfall, but that cliffhanger ending was too soon and sudden. Excited to see that storyline wrapped up!

Ah, that explains it then. I hadn't kept up with it at all since reading about it on some norwegian gaming site way back in the day.

Go back and play the other games. This series is something special <3

Posted by Amafi

@gaston: I think after all this time TLJ might still be my favorite post-lucasarts point and click adventure game.

So this means we will never get an episode 2?

I liked The Longest Journey quite a bit, but Dreamfall was a huge bummer for me. I don't remember a single plotline being wrapped up at all. It just…stopped. If the next game had come out within a year, that would have been fine, but now? Sad to say I got tired of waiting, and moved on. =[

If it gets rave reviews, I'll probably pick it up, but Dreamfall left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

Loved Longest Journey and Dreamfall so I'm really looking forward to this!

Shaping up nicely, I love Dreamfall series. Glad I backed it.

Video playback is broken

I should probably play this series at some point since I did actually back this. I even own a boxed copy with both previous games.

Posted by Cold_Wolven

Loved the first 2 so totally hyped for this when it arrives.

I played Longest Journey just last year and loved it! Dreamfall i felt was disappointing and the ending was rushed. Still looking forward to this to see how the story unfolds?

Posted by draky

I loved the original Longest Journey, but it's been so long. I wonder if I can get myself to go back and play it and Dreamfall before this comes out.

Oh man i cannot wait, I thought this was dead and in the ground like Beyond Good and Evil 2

Posted by D_W

It's time to wake up now, Zoey.

Edited by Arx724

Loved TLJ, enjoyed Dreamfall I hated Zoë, backed Chapters because I want to see the story get wrapped up.

I remember the original news about it being episodic, but would have preferred the single game it later seemed to be.

Man, I should really play the first two games.

Posted by dr_mantas

First thing I funded on Kickstarter.

Posted by Dizzyhippos

As long as Ragnar Tørnquist is writing them, I will continue to be really excited for them.

Man, I should really play the first two games.

I play on doing the same thing but with a FAQ open, because man some of those puzzles have not aged well.

This looks interesting. I never played the originals but people always praised them.

Is Dreamfall being revived as a kickstarter?!?!? Where can i send my money?

Posted by ICantBeStopped

I played the first two games, but a long time ago. I kind of forget if April is dead, that British is dead, and I kind of remember there being a guy. Maybe I should replay them.

Posted by CatDetective

So excited for this!

Posted by mcsundaeguy

@rethla http://redthreadgames.com/pledge/ send them ALL the money.

I barely remember anything from The Longest Journey, but I will check this out when it's released.

I can't wait to play this and I'm glad it is out on the OSX.

I don't know how I feel about the choice mechanic. Dreamfall already half ruined itself by catering to "what the market wants"(Stealth sequencces, lackluster combat, third person action-adventure rather than screen based point and click game), so now that they seem to be moving further away from telling one simple, rigid, personal-to-the-author story I am getting a bit worried that I will never see anything quite like the original TLJ from Tørnquist ever again. Here's to hoping the Silver Spear of Gorimon actually gets some play in this one, it seemed so well foreshadowed in the original.

Half of this trailer was logos and quotes but what they did show was incredibly pretty. Is this running on Unity?

Hmmm, interesting...

Yes. Team of 14-15 people.

They've been very honest from the start of the Kickstarter that there won't be combat and are aware of how those design decisions didn't work out.

If you guys want to see 25 min of alpha gameplay:

Loved Dreamfall game when i played it, reminds me I haven't completed The Longest Journey yet.
