You know what would be awesome? If the name of this trailer were the name of the game.

First Driver was a revelation. Amazing game completely let down by mediocre and broken sequels respectively. They need to show gameplay footage at the very least if they want anyone to care about this franchise again.

Driver 1 was awesome.   This brought back fond memories for me, doing those tutorials in the parking garage over a dozen years ago.

They totally lost the plot after that.  Driver 2 was technically crippled and had horrible out-of-car moments, then they made basically a completely different game series that didn't control or feel at all like the original.

No subtitle crap, this is good. What's bad is that the last however many Driver games after the first one, have been arse.

Is this a Driver reboot? This reminds me of the first Driver, and of course how I never got anywhere in it since I sucked and couldn't pass the stupid tests in the parking lot at the beginning of the game.

The games kinda wore thin after a while when all they could do was copy GTA, but I do love the look and style of the series.  I'm definitely interested in a new driver game.

At least they realized that it never lived up to the original formula, I'm just worried that the precise driving challenges will turn off the casual racer.  The original locked you out of the story mode unless you did all the checklist items in the tutorial.

My only problem is that now that those muscle cars are 40+ years old, no serious driver would use one because they stick out like crazy, and are now worth more than probably what is being stolen.

What I want is Driver 1 in HD. If that is what this is, I'll be happy. No on foot segments. Get back to what made the first game awesome and I'll buy this day one.

Tanner is back because this is more of a reboot than an actual sequel.

Okay, not really.  Wasn't the last one published by Atari?  I guess they've dropped Michael Madsen, as well as continuity.  Probably a reboot.

If this is a Driver remake it needs to be everything that made the first driver great, and nothing like the changes the sequel made. Driver was about driving, not about running anywhere, or shooting anybody. It was about a wheelman and that was it. Driver was also the best video game representation of those classic car chases like The French Connection, Bullit and The Getaway.

If they market this to the mature audience, who hold a special place for those movies, and who love the heavy feel of those old muscle engines, this game will be a complete flop commercially, but DAMN will it be good.

I don't even remember the ending of Driv... OH! It suddenly all came back to me. No, man, Tanner got shot up, but lived. Anywho, if this is going to be a game worthy of competing with the original, they have to cut out the walking around with no car part from the thrid game. Also, no fucking shooting of any kind. Driver ain't no shooter. It's a driving game.

I really liked Driv3r simply because I was young and paid $80 for it. I was able to find it's redeeming qualities. This looks like a remake of the first game or a reboot, which gives me hope. It's also important to note that this is not made by the same people that broke the franchise.

That seems very reminiscent of the first level of Driver so I'd guess at a remake. Remember spending ages trying to destroy the 4 cars towards the end of the game, was very frustrating at the time!

It doesn't show him living or dying. What is shown is him flatlining in an Istanbul hospital then cut to intro/end game credits. My opinion is that he died. It is possible that the doctors save him, but we aren't shown that happening.

I loved the first Driver, but that was a special moment in time that they can never recapture. It's obvious that they're clearly trying to do so, after seeing this trailer. Back in the Driver 1 days you really didn't have another game like it, it was unique...not so much the case anymore.

The Test at the begining of the game was awesome.
It was a tutorial on how the game worked, and it took you into the game.

I still find myself saying 'hey man, watch the paint' in various situations it applies...
