about time.

I bought Dungeon Defenders: First Wave on iOS when it came out about a year ago, but it was buggy and unintuitive in its design. I think they fixed the problems in subsequent updates, but I never went back to it.

Looks like fun ^^

Wait.

Tatum posted this trailer? Dayyyyyyuuuuuuuum

Fun game when it works.

Which is rarely. More disconnects and crashes than ... in some thing with a lot of disconnects and crashes.

Yeah I noticed that too. Whaaa?

Game is frankly great fun but also amazingly difficult. This will not be a game you can play through in a day or two. It's also built to be played with more than one player so I'd suggest getting some friends interested before you grab it.

The game really is a lot fun, PC version is currently struggling with the load though it seems and people are getting a lot of disconnects. Still managed to get 2 level finished in co-op which was great.

On PS3 everything runs great, so it may be worth playing a console version if that's an option for you. I believe there is cross-platform play, so you won't need to worry about leaving friends behind.

That said, while I enjoy a lot of things about this game, it is HARD. Admittedly, I picked Huntress (which is rated as the second hardest class to play) and was playing solo. The last wave of the first level after the tutorial just absolutely wipes me every time. Either you're going to spend a lot of time grinding levels and dying til you're strong enough, or you will absolutely want to play this with people. It does not scale down in any meaningful way for solo play.

@Addfwyn: It certainly scales UP for co-op play though so doesn't get especially easy with more people. More varied traps/abilities that come with more people are certainly helpful though.

@Addfwyn: Hearing that solidifies my position that I should just buy Orcs Must Die instead. I don't want to grind levels, nor do I particularly want to have to find some friends who will play the game with me.

The art style looks great, but I don't think that this game is for me.

Picked it up on XBLA this morning - very fun little game, I can see it eating up a lot of time.

I absolutely love this game. I think it's important to note how much content is in this game. It's taken me roughly 6 hours to get to level 18 (in RPG terms--not campaign progression). The level cap is 70. You can create more than one hero; there are currently 4 vastly different classes (with 2 more on the way); each class can be specialized in so many ways; and each character that you create levels independently from one another.

I think more people need to at least try the demo. Hopefully the review quotes in the trailer are enough to beckon others over.

First impression: effing brilliant. Already both one of the best Tower Defense and one of the best action-RPGs I've played in a long, long time. Didn't have any issues with the online on PC either, played for almost three hours without any issues.

Played the trial. Forgot to stop for 3 hours. Bought the game forgot the time again and it was night. Is this a game or a timemachine!

Looks interesting, but maybe a bit dangerous to go alone.

I bought it on Steam. And I regret it. It was an impulse buy. :(

The clumsy controls are pretty annoying.

Got it on Steam, game is fucking AMAZING! Very deep, far deeper than I expected. So much loot and plenty of upgrading, persistent characters... It's amazing! I dunno how it controls with a mouse/keyboard, but with my 360 pad it's flawless. SO worth the money!

@xbob42: M/K controls are fine. I agree, amazing game especially for only 15 bucks.

Used to work for GameStop when Maximo came out. Had those boxers. Promo gift.

Bah! Just got home from work and was going to play a few hours of this before I went to bed only to pop open steam and realize that I forgot to preload it! Looks like I won't be playing till tomorrow.

I've been playing it all night. Its a great little game!

Looks kinda meh, and I didn't really expect much

@BisonHero: Probably not a bad idea if you're looking for a casual TD timesink, since Dungeon Defenders is gonna eat a lot of time one way or another. XP and Mana (money) gained are retained even if you fail a mission, so it's not a total wash. You can always use the matchmaking to find people to play with, but it's probably a game that's better with real friends.

really cool trial, can't wait till i get some points

You don't have to "grind levels". That said, Orcs Must Die and Dungeon Defenders are both great games. If you're more into SP, get Orcs Must Die. If you're more into co op, get Dungeon Defenders. You won't be disappointed either way.

Yeah, I'm more into SP anyway, so Orcs Must Die seems to be more my speed. Probably will hold out until a 50% off sale, though.

I got the Xbox 360 version last night and played it a few hours. It's bloody great, even more fun than when I played the iOS version (where the controls were my biggest issue). Also I noticed there's shiploads of more enemies compared to the iOS version, so much harder! :P Totally worth a purchase!

Regular pants are already uncomfortable, metal pants I can't even imagine. So I can't blame him for not wearing any.
